Paula if your calf is swollen, red or hot or if you can't flex your toes towards you without the pain increasing go to A+E NOW!!!!!!!!
Pain killers may only mask the symptoms and I would hate you to have a DVT!!!!!!!!!
OMG Liz are those the symptoms of a possible DVT?
I felt very strange/unwell this evening so gone a bit of plan[msnscared] here is my diary anyway[msnembarrased]
Porridge
Skinny latte
Fresh pineapple
Chicken salad with yogurt as dressing
Skinny latte
A bowl of cereal and 2 slices of wholemeal toast (no butter) with apricot jam[msnembarrased]
2 litres of water[clap]
Why is it when you feel poorly only toast will do[msnwink]
hope you are both ok Paula and you too Julie[grouphug]
Julie i think your right about the toast when your poorly thing, i've had toast for supper with ginger jam, well i didn't get my morning fix[msnwink] didn't bother with the chinese at all, so it's been just the strawbs earlier and the toast for me today, hopefully i will be back to normal tommorow
at the moment i'm still fairly shaky and am being policed very closely by dh
so i've logged on quickly whilst he's distracted watching Rocky 2[msnembarrased]
expecting to be told off any minute [msnscared]
got flights booked earlier for our trip next march, now i'm soooooo excited[msnsmile2][msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

Hope you are feeling better Mizzy.
I have had a good day today and despite having eaten potatoes at both lunch and dinner on a red day I feel I have eaten quite healthily.
RED
Breakfast
Grapefruit, 3 rashers of bacon dry fried egg.
Lunch
Baked potato with tuna in light lemon mayo ( 1 syn + healthy B) salad with 1 tablespoon of light honey and mustard dressing ( 1 syn)
yoghurt
Dinner
Salmon, veggies roasted in 2 tablespoons of honey.....red and green peppers, red onion, tomatoes mushrooms and baby new pots in skins ( 2 syns + 1 healthy B )
Strawberries and a banana
For Julie, Paula and Mizzy[grouphug][grouphug], hope you are all feeling better soon.
Reporting in with my food diary -
Breakfast scrambled egg and toast
Lunch ryvita and dairylea cheese triangles and apple
For dinner I made the creamy veg and quorn lasange from the slimming mag and it was [sick][sick][sick], myself and the girls wouldn't eat it, but Peter did, but then he eats anything I put in front of him. I had some quorn minted lamb grills in the fridge so quickly made them with SW chips and salad. For pud I got a small flan case and filled it with very low fat strawberry yog and sliced strawberries, not sure how many sins but not many.
Yesterday I had the full 15 sins, haven't had many all week so didn't feel guilty. Must of been the monthly munchies so not expecting great results this week.

No swelling or feeling hot, toes are OK. Just very painful when walking.
Welcome to the sick bay! [grouphug] for all those not feeling well, Paula you are being v quiet, hope you have not had to spend hours at A&E. Mizzy get well soon, let DH boss you around he knows what he is doing, and Julie hope you are feeling better tomorrow.
Sally have just finished roaring with laughter at your description of sw lasagne, glad I am not the only one to serve up revolting food when on a diet - anyone tried Carol Vordermans? Don't - did her curry one day - absolutely revolting and completely inedible - I think we ended up with a takeaway which rather defeated the object of the exercise!!
Must get off to bed and not be too long on here as need to be up early walking the hounds before I get down to Winchester for watch Janny. DH has cancelled golf in view of rain, so he can be I/C relcatriant YD and ensure she does some work[gun]!!

Morning Everyone, Julie B here!
Sorry to hear you're all a bit poorly!
After all my moaning and groaning I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 2LBs. [clap] I'm soo pleased. I don't know what I've done differently other than had a couple of potatoes (just boiled) with my salad and not done nearly as much on the treadmill. Doesn't make sense does it? The body is a strange thing!
I went to a shop called Costco in Reading yesterday. Has anyone heard of it? Its a cash and carry place, but they do really good quality fresh fruit and veg. It makes eating salads bearable! The peppers and apples are to die for. Its quite a long way to go for me but its worth it!
I'm just off to walk my dogs now (black lab called Pip and black and white springer called Tia). Have a good day everyone!
Morning girls Sorry I haven't been around much this week had a family funeral to attend and other bits going on so I don't know where the time has gone.
Still I have been very good this week and even resisted all the lovely food at the wake .
As Fiona says to day is my race for life I hope my leg stands upi to it -it is nice and sunny here so it always helps an injury to have a bit of warmth.
I do kow this eatingstyle is working thougjh -I was clearing out some clothes to take to donate today and I came across a pair of trousers I couldn't get on at christmas so was going to add them to the bag but decided to try them -and they fit beautifully ! I am so pleased I liked thiose trousers.
I will report in when I get back later today think of me around 11.00 :)

I've decided to resurrect the diet. I tried on a pair of trousers the other day which I wore last summer and horrors could not get into them. Have decided not only to loose that weight but to try and get back to what I was a few years ago.
I did Slimming World about 7 years ago and was very successful on that but it has changed since then so will have to find out all about it again. I will be finding a new class though as the person who does my local one I cannot respect as she is still grossly overweight herself and does not seem to practice what she preaches. Sally, which one do you go to locally? I like the idea of a early evening one as it means that we can eat afterwards without it being too late. Other half does not like a large meal in the middle of the day.
Good luck Janny, hope the leg holds out. I have two friends going up to Winchester today.
Jill
Good morning all[clap][clap][clap]
Feeling much better this morning after a long lie in[msnembarrased]
Mizzy and Paula hope you are both OK and Janny hope the lag holds and good luck on the race for life[clap][sporty]
Jill welcome!!! Why not go on the Slimming World web site and find out what classes are near you, I go to an early one to near my childrens school as oppose to near home[msnsmile2]
Julie B well done thats great news, eat a little more and maybe vary your exercise? Have you tried intervals on the treadmill? They are more effective that straight running or walking[clap][sporty]
Fiona I know the feeling I banned ED from her Saturday night out as she has not done enough revision, so far its working and she has her head in her books[msnmad]
Red day for me today off to much sausage egg and bacon etc[clap]
good morning everyone
well i'm back to my usual self today[clap]but i must go to the doctors tommorow and have a three way consult with the neurologist[msnscared]
i'm on so many pills i rattle when i walk[msneek]
welcome Jill to the topic[clap]always lovely to have new people on board[clap]
congratulations Julie B on the 2lb weight loss, isn't it strange how sometimes when you eat more you lose more, it's like this at SW you really do have to eat to lose weight, the trick is to eat all the right things
Sally where was your lunch yesterday , i thought you agreed ryvita and cheese do not make a lunch[msnwink] was it quorn mince you used for the lasagne, i can eat any quorn product but for some reason can't stand the texture of the mince[sick] how about swapping the mince for roasted vegetables this is what i do when a make a vegetarian lasagne it's much nicer than the quorn
dont know about the flan case Sally was it sponge based or pastry? (if pastry your looking at about 7 syns) but how what about using a meringue nest instead?(3-4syns) topped with yoghurt and strawberries this would make a lovely sweet alternative, it's nice topped with banana and toffee yoghurt too[msntongue]
Paula hope you feel better today too[grouphug]and glad a lie in has sorted you out as well Julie[grouphug]
it has felt like sick bay in here the last few days hasn't it?
Jammy good luck in your race for life i'll be thinking of you, will dm you later to find out how i can get some sponsorship across to you[sporty][sporty][sporty]
have a good day everyone[angel] and catch you all later
Mizzy
Jill, I go to one in Cowplain, I have had a look and see there is only one on Hayling Island but there are others in Havant and Emsworth, hope you find one to suit you.
Today I'm sticking to what I know and making a roast today, having a red day so lots of lean meat and veg and only 2 very small dry roasties.
Don't think I am going to live my lasange down, girls have decided that if anyone misbehaves they will be severly punished and made to eat my lasange.
Good luck Janny[sporty][sporty][sporty]
My Jessica is bad for trying vegatables and I am forever asking how she can say she does not like it if she has never tried it. The other day we were talking about all the rides in Florida (I don't do the big scary rides) and she said "it's like me with vegetables, how do you know you don't like them when you don't go on them. So me and my big mouth said if you try loads of different vegatables I will go on a scary ride[msneek]. She has now tried about 4 and reminds me to give her some to try when I am dishing up. OMG, I will have to keep my side of the bargain so what shall I go on. I did try Kraken the first time we went and hated every second of it.
Help, I hate the big rides, just watching my lot on them makes me feel ill.
Glad you are all feeling better today.
Well done to Julie B and welcome to the slimming club[clap]
well Sally you talked yourself into that one now didn't you!
scary rides are not my thing either[msnscared] but i have a cast iron medical excuse to back me up!! it may not be any fun at all being an epileptic but at least it gets me out of all those scary rides[msnwink]
you could always develop back and neck pain or get pregnant Sally, now that would get you out of it[msnwink]
i'm having a green day today so i've had a meat free brekkie and am planning on tomato and basil quorn sausages with chips and beans for tea[msntongue]
i've just realised Theresa hasn't been around for a while, hope your ok Theresa[grouphug] and Julie's rather quiet today too [grouphug] are you ok Julie?

Now that's a bit extreme.[laugh][laugh]
I love the big rides and do them all. The one one that frightened me was Sheikra but it turned out to be fantastic.
Paula sorry to hear about the leg make sure you get it seen to .
Well girls I am back for the run I am really pleased as I did it in 33 mins with the leg so if I hadn't pulled the liscle I would have been a bit quicker.
Fiona I am so sorry I couldn't find you there but there were so many people around it was hard to see what was going on.
John has gne to Sainsburys to get me a treat it will probably be fattening but i feel I deserve it and as the famous quote goes
"tomorrow is another day " and I will get back on track then .
well done Janny[clap][clap][clap][clap][clap]
you enjoy your treat[msnsmile2][msnwink]

Welcome Jill and well done Janny!!![clap][clap][clap][clap][clap]
Oh well done Janny. Talk about jet lag - I was being too smug about the previous night[msncry]. Still awake at 3.00am worrying how I was going to wake up. Guess what, I didn't - slept straight through the alarm, and shot up at 10.45[msnembarrased][msnembarrased]! Decided there was no point in belting down to Winchester then, so took the dogs out and thought of Janny as I power walked round!
Great time too you did, now how much have you raised so far?
Red day today, banana for breakfast sausage & salad for lunch, chicken breast & salad for supper. Strawberries & grapes for pud, I need to be careful to allow for my misdemeanours earlier on in the week and of course the day of travel, however careful you are always something you shouldn't be eating.
Julied (or is it b, sorry am fuzzybrained today) do you live in Reading? I am in Maidenhead and my girls went to school in Reading, youngest is now at Reading College doing her AS's - much sorting out of folders has gone on today, not so sure that much work is going on. 2 weeks to her Physics practical! She has agreed not to go out until after 10 June - after that she will be permanently drunk she says!! (Bit more information than I needed to know.)
No worries Fiona I would have been surprised if I had seen you -there were a lot of people milling around. So far I have raised around £340 with a bit more to come in but the online form is open for another 10 days if anyone wants to add to it .
Very well done Janny!!!![clap][clap][clap]
Did you enjoy the race? Good time too[clap][clap][clap]
Well I have had very little time to get on here today, had a lie in and played catch up for the rest of the day[msneek]
Red day today so here is my diary.......
Grilled extra lean sausage, bacon medalions and tomatoes with dry fried omelette
Skinny latte
Grapes
Tuna steak seared with grilled toms and salad
Almost 2 litres of water [angel]
Only had two meals so far today as I selpt in so may have my porridge later if I am hungry but I have also got melon and yogurt for later[msnwink]
Mizzy Paula and Sally, I hate those rides too, I hated being pregnant too and threw up every day for 9 months, but I could go through childbirth again anytime, just give me gas and air and in about 3-4 hours its all done[msnsmile2]LOL!!!!
Julie B we have been members of Costco for many years and even go to the one in Florida, great shop but I always spend too much when I go there[msneek]
Fiona, ED has her head in her books again, its her 17th birthday on Tuesday and she has planned a big night out next Sat but I said she can only go if she has done the min of 4 hours x 4 subjects extra work/revision at home this week as per the schools suggestion[msnwink] Think her first exam is in 3 weeks[msnmad]

Lucky you Julie I wish mine were that easy[msncry]
I've given my poor leg plenty of rest today and although I'm still walking with a limp it's feeling much better.
I have had a wardrobe clear out today. All the clothes I have worn through winter have been bagged up for the charity shop as I never ever want to wear size 18 again. So new wardrobe for me by winter time this year and NOT from Evans. They have been asking me if I want a store card for years and each time I think it's not worth it as I won't be shopping in here again........few months later and I'm there again[msnembarrased]
Paula snap!!! new wardrobe for me too , i've bagged up all the old winter clothes that really are too big for me now [msnsmile] including a very expensive winter coat that i bought last november and i've only worn it half a dozen times
fingers crossed come this winter i'll be a size 12-14[msnsmile2][msnwink]
i've had a good day today [angel] and after i get the doctors out of the way in the morning i'll start looking forward to going and getting weighed[msnsmile]

No I don't live in Reading, but I live in Stonesfield which is a small village near Witney in Oxfordshire. Its a bit of a trek to Reading but not too bad, and worth it!
I always spend too much too, its easy to get carried away.
Can you get into the Costco in Florida with just a normal membership or does it have to be a gold card or something else?
Whats Intervals on the treadmill? Sorry to be thick but I've never heard of it. I'll do anything to make a difference.
Total weight loss now - 18lb. Long may it continue!! (it needs too! LOL)

Two years ago I won a shopping spree for £2000.00 through the local evening newspaper, do you know how depressing that was.
I did buy two coats wotth £500.00 but they are both hanging in my wardrobe, never been worn, too small.
I love clothes I just don't suit the ones I like. I'm a jeans and t-shirt girl and although I still wear them I want to look hot in them[msnwink]

[/quote]I know what you mean, I've still got my size 12 levis from years ago hoping that maybe someday (soonish) I might be able to wear them again. Who knows, maybe this time!
Hi Julie B
i think you need either Julie or Janny or Sharon G to explain intervals , i'd pretty much say the're the exercise guru's on here[msneek]
i think interval training is something you do when you get up to make a coffee during the ad breaks on the telly[msnscared][msnembarrased]
how's it going, do you feel great for losing the 18lbs?[clap]
Paula £2 grand!!!!!you jammy lucky thing you[msnoo] i'm not jealous, i'm not[msnsad] allright then i am[msnmad][msnwink]
i'd be a jeans and t.shirt girl all the time too, but sometimes my bum is far too big so when i feel really fat i slip back into my old trusty black skirt[msnembarrased] now where i'd be without that skirt i'll never know, actually it moves around as i walk and the side zip ends up at the front so really it's too big and needs to go in the charity bag but i'm so attached to it[msnembarrased]
Mizzy

Julie I threw up for the whole 9 months with Hannah and Jessica and looked like death the whole time. With Hannah I was 6lb lighter at 40 weeks pregnant then before.
All 3 were very quick labours, Hannah being the best 20 minutes start to finish[clap][clap]
Morning all, Yes I am up early today[sporty]
Julie B.................
Treadmill Interval Workout
There’s been a lot of buzz recently about Interval Training. So, you may be wondering what it really is and, more importantly, why you should incorporate it in your fitness workouts. Well, if you want a workout that can help propel you to the next fitness level, burn more calories, increase your speed, improve your power and more.
Why should you include Interval Training? As previously mentioned, there are many benefits to this type of training and execution is relatively simple. Interval Training can help you improve cardiovascular fitness, increase speed, improve overall aerobic power, burn more calories, break-through a plateau, increase workout duration, reach new exercise levels, expand your workout options and increase your workout threshold – just to name a few.
Focus on alternating between high intensity intervals and recovery periods to increase endurance and burn calories.
Beginners: Modify according to your fitness level. If you need more recovery time, take it. If the intensity intervals are too long, go as long as you can and recover. Add a few minutes to your workouts each week to progress.
The speeds/inclines given are only examples. Increase/decrease as needed.
Intensity Levels Warm Up: 5-10 minutes
Low 5 minutes: 3.0+ mph, 0% incline
High 1 minutes: 3.2+ mph, incline: 6%
Medium 2 minutes: 3.0+ mph, incline: 1%
High 1 minute: 3.3+ mph, incline: 6%
Medium 2 minutes: 3.0+ mph, incline 1%
High 1 minute: 4.0+ mph, incline 3%
Medium 2 minutes: 3.0+mph, incline: 1%
High 1 minutes: 4.5+mph, incline: 2%
Medium 2 minutes: 3.0+mph, incline 1%
High 1 minute: 5.0+mph, incline 0%
High 1 minute: 3.2+mph, incline 8%
Medium 3 minutes: 3.0+mph, incline 0%
Low 5 minutes: 2.5 mph+, incline: 0% - cool down
Total Workout Time: 32 - 37 minutes
Basically, you run fast for a min or however long you can then walk for a min, then run, the walk, pushing yourself for a short burst then recover by walking.
Interval training is much more demanding. It consists of shorter bouts of activity performed in quick succession and at a higher intensity. For example suppose you know can run 3 miles in 20 minutes flat. You could break the 3 miles up into 6 half mile intervals and aim to run each interval in 3 minutes… a pace you wouldn’t sustain running 3 miles continuously.
Sample Interval Training Sessions
Basic Intervals
This is as straight forward as interval training gets. Feel free to change the distance and number of intervals based on your fitness level.
Warm up – 10 minutes light jog or walk at approximately 50% to 60% maximum heart rate.
Workout – Run 0.5 miles at the highest pace you can maintain. Rest for 3 to 5 minutes and repeat. Complete a total of 6 to 10 intervals making a note of your total running time i.e. how long it has taken you to run 6 half miles not including rest time.
Don’t use heart rate to dictate the pace at first because unless you are well conditioned you won’t sustain half a mile at 80% of your maximum heart rate. Just run at a pace you think you can maintain. Aim to reduce your total running time each session but try to keep each interval the same pace rather than trying to run the last half mile as fast as you can. As you get fitter you can add extra intervals.
Cool down – 10 minutes light jog or walk at approximately 50% to 60% maximum heart rate
In a nutshell, I tend to do 1 minute fast run then 1 minute powerwalk for 30-60 minutes depending on how I feel and how much time I can spare[sporty][sporty]
Mizzy I just love your version of intervals LOL!![clap][clap][clap]
No Loss this week! *mutter mutter mutter*
I was really good as week. I think its nearly that 'time' so maybe the reason.
I think I need to increase my activity a lot more, and maybe up my water, if that makes a difference.
Bit fed up really, I had been so good too!
[msnsad]
Oh dear Theresa[grouphug] i think you may not be eating enough, but if it's that time of the month then thats what get us all down[msnsad] you stick with it mrs and i promise it will be allright[grouphug][msnsmile]

Morning all!
Keep at it Theresa, I'm sure you'll succeed next week if not this![msnwink]
Well had a great weekend and was really good with all the food stuff!![msnwink] Wasn't tempted to have any of the naughty nibbles at the childrens party on Saturday and went for all the healthy options at the BBQ afterwards! Corn on the cob, BBQ'd vegetables and a jacket potatoe with some fresh grilled tuna steak sauteed with lemon and herbs, yummy.
Overdone it though this weekend with regards to my back problem! so will have to miss going on the "twister" for the next couple of days!
Paula, Hope your leg is also on the mend?
Mizzy, You'll be a the doctors now but hope all goes well!
Julie......Think I would opt for Mizzys version of the "Interval Training" rather than yours[msnoo][msneek][msnwink][msnwink] LOL[clap]
Have a good one everyone
well back from the docs and all is not well at all, more tablets and another mri is what they are saying[msnscared] with the tablets i'm taking they are guidelines as to a max amount per kilo weighed which i did not know about and because of the weight loss i've been taking too many
but because the fits are still happening this has freaked them out[msneek] so the mri appt is necessary[msnsad]
try not to get stressed the doctor said[msnmad] i replied back to him well dr b you've met my children tell me how it's possible to meet their care needs and remain stress free and bl**dy i'll do it[msnmad]
i've sent dh out to do some shopping and i've planned the weeks menu's so i'm all set for a good week and of course it'll be stress free[msnscared] i wish[msnwink]
looking forward to weigh in tonight, i'm pre-menstrual so fingers crossed should still be ok

Theresa - I know how you feel. I've been through the same thing and its soooo frustrating when you know you've been good and nothing comes off. Keep going and stay positive.
Hope all goes ok for you at the doctors mizzy!
Julie - Thanks for the fab explanation of Interval training. The spooky thing is that at the school gate this morning I got talking to a friend of a friend who is a personal trainer, and she was telling me to do the exact same thing. I'll give it a try.
I'd better get on with some work I suppose, quite busy this morning!
Have a good[angel] day everyone,

Had a bitterly disappointing day. As many of you already know I am going to see Robbie Williams in Dublin next month. There were seven of us originally going and one by one they have all cancelled except one. I got in touch with the guest house I booked to let them know only two of us would be travelling. As we were having to stay in a family room and the guest house have no smaller rooms I was told maybe I would be better cancelling as they want the full amount for the room. I don't blame the owners at all as they are running a buisness at the end of the day. Can I now get a room in Dublin.........NO. I have had to book new flights for the day of the concert at 6.40am were we will spend the day walking around Dublin until the concert at 7.00pm hit a few bars after the concert then head back to the airport for a 8.00am flight home. No room at any Inn's for us. As for food I have hardly ate all day and I have a banging headache. At least I will still get to see The Robster.
Morning all!!!
ED 17th birthday today - OMG how times flies[msnscared][clap][msnsmile]
Weigh for me today too, not expecting a loss according to my scales at home, just hope I have not gained, don't deserve to I have been so good[angel] May not post until the afternoon as going to the hairdressers straight form SW[msnwink]
Paula sorry to here about all that hassle with Robbie[msnsad]
Mizzy keep your chin up[msnwink]
Have a great day everyone, stay positive (I am trying tell myselft that can you tell[msnscared]) Just keep at it[clap][sporty]

Oh Mizzy thats the pits, but as Julie says , you have been poorly and that never helps wieght loss unless you have the Aztec two step and then it's only a temporary thing [msnsad]
Keep focused and good luck for next week.
I have been struggling the last 2 days, mainly over portion sizes and I did have an argumet with a pack of snack a jacks.........the snack a jacks won[msnsad] That's something else I won't bother buying in the furture unless I'm feeling really strong[msnsad]
Sorry your plans to see RW are all going haywire Paula, but just to see him.......well that would brighten my day:D
aww Paula thats such a shame[grouphug] hope you can get it all sorted and try to look on the bright side your friends will really envy you come the day they'll wish they could go afterall, and you'll still get to see the Robster!!!!!
Julie, have a great day and good luck with the weigh in
now i'm sure someone else also gets weighed today but b***er if i can remember who[msneek] it will come back to me but good luck to everyone who is weighing in today, fingers crossed it'll be good news[clap]
Sally haven't heard from you for a while how's it going? is everything ok?[msnsmile]
and Liz well what can i say [msnwink] remember little pickers wear biggers knickers[msneek] how about buing those little individual packs of snack a jacks instead of the jumbo size ones?, then you can have your snack a jacks and eat them so to speak[msnsmile2]
come on girls lets have a super positive week[clap][clap][clap]i think we all need to look back at our initial postings on the first few pages of this topic and remind ourselves why we wanted to lose the weight and how motivated we all where/ still are???

Come on everyone! You're all sounding a bit down this morning.
Summer's just round the corner, stay focused and positive! You'll all feel better for it!
I tried the intervals training on the treadmill this morning (got up at 6) You can really feel the difference, I was sweating like a pig! (sorry, thats gross) Felt it did me alot of good though, I'll keep at it and see what happens. Happy birthday Mach 2's ED,and good luck with your weigh in today, hope its what you want to hear.
Feel for you mizzy, my mum was an epileptic for most of her life, she's now 67 and finally grown out of it (ha ha) she's even off the tablets, she had a motorbike accident in her teens and was epileptic eversince, until now! Not nice, I feel for you. I wish you hadn't told me about the creme egg bar, creme eggs are my fave thing in the whole world. WIll be avoiding that like the plague.
Have a good day everyone, stay positive!!
Julie B
Good luck for this morning Julie.
Sorry to hear of your problems Mizzy, chin up[msnsmile2]
Mizzy and Theresa, keep at it and you will see results next week.
Just over 5 months until I go to Florida, how much weight will I get off, would like to look like the girl in the red cossie in the special K advert, not much hope of that[msnsad]. I asked Peter if I could look like that and he said "no, you haven't got a red cossie":D
Happy birthday to Julie's daughter, my Rachel will be 17 in August, only seems like yesterday she was crawling around getting into everything.
Had Hannah off school yesterday, she stood on an ear-ring in her bedroom and has now got an abcess of her foot, pretty nasty but maybe it will teach her to pick stuff up and put them away[msnwink].
Not expecting a great loss this week, have been very good but time of the month and feel like I have stayed the same[msnsad].

Julie...Good luck with the weigh in and a very happy birthday to your daughter[clap][clap]
Julie B you can have a creme egg bar as long as you build it into your diet and you can just stop at one [msnscared] if your gonna have one i would recommend that you freeze it first[msnwink] it lasts longer
Sally you made me laugh at you husbands reply, did you know that models and such are in the minority when it comes to their shape and size only 5% of the female population are reported to be that size
[msneek] i'd be very happy with a nice shapely size 12-14[msnsmile2] i have been very thin at just under 9 stone and i looked dreadful, bones sticking out everywhere!!!! anyway dh likes the curvy hourglass shape [msnwink] more to grab hold of he reckons[msnembarrased][msnoo]
nice pic of Robbie Sharon, i can't quite put my finger on it as to why some many girls/women find him attractive, is it the cheeky smile or the mischevious eyes or that devil may care dangerous attitude that he seems to project?[msnwink]perhaps it all three or maybe it's just lust!!!! what do you think Paula?
do you know who else is missing? - Carole, hope everythings going great Carole [msnsmile]
i'm off now to prepare lunch i'm having a grilled chicken breast and roasted courgettes cut lengthwise with the centre scooped out and then mixed together with diced tomatoes, red pepper and onion then put back into the courgette and topped with melted low fat cheddar [msntongue]
Mizzy
Morning all, very busy at work since we got back. Weigh in day for me and I am not optimistic, I think all those times of indulging myself in Florida are going to come back to haunt me tonight. Yes I did hop on my own scales and yes I am a few pounds heavier - only myself to blame and am going to get back on track with the mix2match as I was doing very well before we went away.
Taling of models, have you seen that ridiculous advert for chocolate bars - magnums I think, stick thin models eating them, as if!
Paula you know Robbie will be worth all the hassle! I forgot to book Springsteen tickets when they first came out and by the time I remembered they had all gone, so will just have to listen to the concert on Saturday evening on Radio 2 - not quite the same!
Foodwise, banana & tea for breakfast, jacket pot, beans & grated cheese for lunch and spag bog & salad for supper, so green day for me.
Have a good day everyone[msnsmile2].

Fiona, if you can't indulge in florida when can you? You can always lose it now you're back!
Tucking in to nice healthy tuna salad with peppers, onions, baby corn, cucumber and baby carrots and tuna of course as we speak, had porridge for breakfast and probably chicken and veg for tea, not SW style but its working. One day I'll find the time to read what the SW plan is all about, but for now I'll just stay off the rubbish and see what happens.[angel]

I haven't give 100% this week I'm afraid and no excercise at all with my sore leg. Still walking with a bit of a limp but getting a little better each day.

Julie the food your eating seems pretty much SW style to me, its just normal everday food to be honest and whats more you can eat as much free food as you want so that you never have to go hungry
you can download a 7 day menu from the SW website if you want a nosey at what it's all about[msnsmile]
do you build any treats into your diet like the odd glass of wine or crisps and chocolate? you can you know
i've done pretty well, even if i do say so myself!!!! and i've still had the occasional choccie bar, packet of crisps and tia maria, all counted in of course[msnwink][msnsmile2]
i'm doing mix to max today Fiona i've had chicken and roasted courgettes for lunch and i'm having sweet potato mash, quorn sausages and veggies for tea
and i've got my cadburys mini honeycomb bites for later[msntongue]
let us know how your day goes and Good Luck with the weigh in Fiona[clap][clap][clap]

Mizzy,
My trouble is I'm an all or nothing type of gal so I haven't had any treats of chocs or crisps since I started cos I'm frightened that if I had a little I wouldn't be able to stop. Although cos I'm so focussed at the moment, I really don't want any [angel] sickening I know. All or nothing, nothing it is then!!![gun].

Hi All!!
Sorry this is brief but was out all day and ED will be home soon so got a bit of a party tea going on[msnwink]
Stayed the same this week[msncry][msnsad][msnscared]
Not surprised though as my scales said the same, but I had 1/2 hour to wait at school gate so read through all my SW stuff again and going to do some success express days too and up my training[sporty][sporty][sporty]
I did get my Platinum award though for the Body Magic[angel] as i do so much exercise - I really should be skinny!!!!
Catch you all later[clap][clap][clap]
well done on your Platinum award Julie and dont worry at all about staying the same, it'll come off next week[clap][clap][clap]
i've got a splitting headache!! darling daughter has only been home 40 mins and it looks like her new laptop is broken, i hoping it's just a new fuse in the plug as when you plug it in it's remaining on battery power and whats more she noticed this last night and has now only told me when there's only 6% battery life left[msnscared]
hope it is just the fuse[msnsad]
Mizzy
just checking in for the night, where is everyone??????????
i've had a great day food wise, everything has gone to plan so i'm very happy[angel]
my daughters laptop is broken [msnsad] it's only 3 months old so it's still under warranty, looks like it's the charger and plug rather than the laptop itself, gonna take approx 10 days to fix[msneek]which i think is a ridiculous length of time[msnmad]
hope everyones being good[msnscared]

I am here Mizzy, just checking in too, had a good day and only a small slither of birthday cake[angel]

I'm here too!
Had a good day food wise too as follows
Porridge
Tuna (half a can), baby corn, peppers, onions, cucumber etc, 2 rice cakes, apple and pear
Tea - stir fry with chicken breast, mushrooms, onion, baby corn and more peppers. Couldn't eat it all, cooked too much!
Feeling a bit peckish now, bit will go without, its a bit late to eat now.
Mizzy - I've just downloaded the 7 day trial diet, seems similar to what I'm doing like you said, seems an awful lot of food! Are the things in red or green 'free foods' that you can have as much as you like of? even pasta and cous cous?
I'm struggling to drink more water, coffee yes but not water! does anyone know if it is the drinking water that helps you lose weight or the fact that it fills you up more so you don't eat as much?
Dreading next Monday, youngest daughter (age 7) has a broken arm at the moment, cast comes off next monday and she's terrified already. She thinks they will cut her with the saw! She won't be told! It won't be pretty - she's very outspoken for a 7 year old - I wonder who she gets that from? LOL!
Good night everyone, be good and be happy,
Julie B

Note number 4[msnwink]
1. We need water to avoid dehydration. Dehydration can have devastating effects on our health and has been linked to constipation, headaches, dizziness, leg cramps and more?
2. Water helps rid the body of waste, by flushing out toxins from the fat cells. This process can eliminate problems with constipation.
3. Water helps the kidneys to function properly. When insufficient water is drunk the kidneys cannot work properly and this has an effect on our liver. It is the livers job to convert stored fat to energy. If the liver needs to do some of the work that the kidneys should be doing, than the liver can not work as it should do to metabolize fat and therefore the fat is stored rather than broken down and used as energy.
4. Water aids in the burning of fat. To burn fat the fat cells need to first be free of excess water and toxins. One reason you may not be losing weight is your not drinking enough water so your body holds on to what water it gets for survival. Our metabolic rate is the rate in which we burn calories. Water is required for this process to function at its best. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits
5. Water suppresses the appetite naturally. When your stomach is full of water, you'll feel full sooner. If you think you are hungry, drink a glass of water and wait 10 minutes before eating something as you may just be thirsty. (However water should not be substituted for food, still eat your 3 meals per day and 2-3 healthy snacks per day)
6. Enough water helps reduce water retention. To get rid of excess water, one has to consume more water. This is because if not enough water is drunk the body goes into survival mode and stores water in extra-cellular spaces. This can show up as swollen feet, legs, hands.
7. Water helps maintain proper muscle tone by giving muscles their natural ability to contract more effectively. Muscle tone will prevent the sagging skin that usually follows weight loss.
8. Water does wonders for your skin it leaves you with a clear, glowing complexion as impurities have been washed out of your system.
Suggested ways to include water in your daily diet are:
? Have a glass of water at every meal time. Breakfast, Mid-morning, Lunch, Mid-afternoon, Supper.
? Keep a water bottle full at your desk or if you're at home on the kitchen counter and reach for it to sip from throughout the day.
? Take a bottle of water with you in the car to sip when waiting in traffic.
? Drink water prior and after exercise. Naturally if you are exercising more water will be required than the daily recommended.
Once you have reached your weight loss goal continue to feed your body with water on a daily basis.
I fill a 2 litre bottle every morning and make sure its empty by bedtime[msnwink][clap][sporty]

Your a walking encyclopedia! A mine of information. Thank you sooooo much.
Its great being part of this, I've learnt soo much already and I thought I knew it all! I'll be out buying that new wardrobe in no time!
I don't know how my pelvic floor will react to all this extra fluid I'm going to be drinking though, it ain't what it used to be!
I thought I'd do some back reading on this site to get some background info on you all, you all seem to know each other quite well, I'd like to know you all too! ahhhh.
Julie b
JulieB, you will have loads of reading to do, if you look on page 6 you will see another 280 pages of our slimming club. Happy reading[msnsmile2]
we all seem to know each other quite well Julie B because we're all a bunch of chatterboxes[chatter][chatter][chatter] if you could lose weight by typing and chatting we'd all be 8 stone!!!!
i must admit that like you i drink more coffee than water but i have switched to decaf now[msnwink]
and yes the red and green foods are free on those days you can eat as much as you like and by this they mean enough to satisfy your appetite, you should never go hungry
you said it's late now to eat but if you had some fruit or yoghurt then this will fire your metabolism up and actually help your weight loss, if your hungry you really should eat[msnsmile]
well i'm almost ready for my bed now so night night everyone

What a day, you won't believe it but i've done in my other leg. I think it all boils down to the fact I haven't done hardly any excercise for a while. I got the treadmill off my sister last week, didn't check the tension on it, didn't do any warm ups and got a big carried away so I've now hurt the muscle in my other calf even though I've not been on it since Saturday. If you could see the way I'm walking[laugh][laugh]
Weetabix for breakfast
Beans on toast for dinner
Veg stir fry for tea.
Paula I take it you are not walking in an elegant and dead sophisticated or sexy manner then[msnwink]. Now don't be daft girl, surely you know to warm up and cool down - warm baths and perhaps some radian b spray and hot water bottle might be a good idea!
Well big surprise here, + 2lbs, but my team leader thought it wasn't too bad in 2 weeks. Girl next door to me had spent 2 weeks in Canada, eaten like horse, drunk like a fish and put on ½lb - do you think sometimes there is nooooooooo justice in this world!
Bought myself the red and green menus at £2.95 ea and am going to sit down tomorrow and menu plan. Also going to get to the gym (or for a swim) tomorrow, that's after I have defrosted the freezer that the gals let get iced up and now will only close when secured with half a roll of sellotape.
Julieb - most people find the more water you drink the more weight you lose, only time if might not work is when it is v hot if you are prone to water retention. One of the girls at the office also goes to Sw and has been told to drink tons of water, and always loses. And yes, it is surprising just how much you can eat![msnsmile2]

Yes I'm still around but running myself ragged!!
Haven't got properly to grips with losing the few pounds I put on in Florida, but I WILL.Lost a couple last week, which was great, but although I've eaten reasonably healthily, I haven't had a "plan" and I find I need to focus carefully on what I'm eating before I see results. I don't have much to lose to get back to pre-hol weight, but the last stubborn few are often the hardest.
On the plus side[msnscared](I think[msnsad]), work is incredibly busy, and will be until the end of the year and because my job is pretty physical this helps with "exercise".
I'm keeping up with reading the posts-at least[msnembarrased]
Have a great day everyone.
Off to do 40 mins on treadmill now, then off to work
Carole
Morning all,
Carole glad to hear you are OK[msnwink]
Fiona, 2lbs on from 2 weeks in Florida is pretty good going[clap][clap][clap] You will soon get that off[sporty]
Sally, how is going for you with the SW menus?
Julie B, you sound like I was last year before joining SW, maybe try to have a bit more variety at meal times otherwise you will not be getting all the vits and minerals your body needs. I have noticed real improvements in my hair nails and skin since eating more fruits and veg and having different meals everyday, it also stops the boredom[msnsmile]
Oh and I know all about the pelvic floor[msnscared] Liz on here is a midwife so she may have some better exercises than the ones I do[msnwink]
Liz are you OK too?
Paula, you are going to have to talk to me before going on that treadmill again[msnwink][msnwink], start with a 5 minute walk as a warm up gradually increasing your speed, then a gentle run[sporty][sporty][sporty]You said it was a manual treadmill? Did it come with intructions? I have never used an manual one but it sounds like it could put extra strain on your muscles, so you need to start very gently and only do a few minutes and then increase by maybe 1-2 mins each day, but please go easy[sporty][sporty][sporty]
Julieanne hope you are having a great time in Florida[msnsmile]Lets us know when you are back[clap]
Mizzy even though you are drinking the decaf you still need to drink more water, but you already know that[msnwink]

Just reporting in after a hard workout on the tread mill as I went out for a meal last night to the most fantastic Indian new cuisine brasserie It is easy to choose well there as there are very few heavy sauces on the menu and those that are there are served on the side a lot of the time. They do a lot of fish dishes so had prawns and salad with plain rice all done with an Indian /Goan twistIf anyuof you are near or ever visit Salisbury you should try this place it is called HOX.
Anyway it is back to normanl today so will be having
jacket potato filled with cottage cheese and lots of salad followed by fruit with fromage frais
and then this evening will be eating pork and apple burgers with veggies- will do sw chips for the others and maybe have some myself.
Have a good day everybody

Well I have decided which class I am going to, as I wanted an early one it was not a hard choice to make as the early ones were on a Tuesday or Thursday, can't do Tuesday as I play badminton so Thursday chosen, 5.30 tomorrow. In my mind I have already started by it seems that SW has altered so much, when I did it before there were no healthy options, it had to be either a green or red day. I think I have a lot to learn.

Oh JulieB, I know what you mean about all that water and your pelvic floor I think I know all the loo stops in Swindon at the moment[msnwink]
I wish I could motivate myself to do more exercise[msneek] Ihave a gym membership I haven't used for ages, in fact I am too embarrased to go afetr all this time[msneek][msnoo]
I am hoping that lots of hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and then lots of swimming in the pool inFlorida will get me back on track. It is a bit of a vicious circle, I know exercise energises you and releases endorphins but I am always soooooo exhausted. Perhaps it's time to have my thyroid function checked[msneek]
Trying really hard to stick to the plan this week but for some reason I am struggling a bit, got to keep motivated!!!

Julie B
Hey girls I have just got back from a 2 hour bike ride[msneek][msnoo][msnscared]
To say my rear is sore is an understatement LOL!!!! I was just about to leave an asked DH if he wanted to come and he said Yes, well we must have done 10 miles at least[msneek][msneek][msneek]
Just tucking into a tuna open sandwich and tons of salad[clap][clap][clap][clap]
Hi Evereyone
back from my course and what can i say, very long and boring with hardly any personality in the room at all[msnscared] the only consolation is that food was nice, i had a baked potato with beans and a massive portion of side salad followed by a pear[angel][angel][angel]
lots of scones patisserie and cakes on offer but i stuck to the healthy choice and had the fruit[clap]
i'm planning on having potato wedges with vegetable chilli for tea and will use some of my syns on a bag of mini honeycomb bites (4syns)

I am in absolute agony, even worse than labour pains.
Not thought about food much today I had rice krispies for breakfast and I've just had a ham sandwich.
Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow.
Julie I love the tread mill email[laugh]
Paula the treadmill email came from Sharon G so its her we have to thank, and it is very funny[clap][clap][clap] You poor thing is it the muscles that hurt? [grouphug]

Hi Jill, good decision joining a class, lots of new things have happened with food optomising, the main two being the new mix to max days and success express, let us know how you get on
Julie i did success express for 3 days and pretty much copied from the book and i lost 2.5lbs that week[msnsmile2] note to self build in more SE days!!!!![msnwink]
dh is out tonight to watch football with his big brother so i'm left with the kiddies all on my own [msnscared]

[/quote]
Does it sound like this..........
A sudden sharp pain in the calf muscle followed by difficulty using it is usually a give away for a calf strain. The most common place to get this injury is at the muscle - tendon junction (MTJ) of the Gastrocnemius roughly half way between the knee and the heel. You can test for this by contracting the muscle against resistance with the legs straight. Pain is felt midway up the calf muscle.
If you have damaged the Soleus muscle you might get pain lower in the leg and also pain when you contract the muscle against resistance with the knee bent. The Gastrocnemius muscle originates above the knee and inserts via the Achilles tendon into the heal. The Soleus originates below the knee and also inserts via the Achilles tendon.
What can the athlete do?
R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) is essential. The sooner you do this the better.
See a sports injury professional who can advise on treatment and rehabilitation.
Wear a heel pad to raise the heel and shorten the calf muscle hence taking some of the strain off it. It is a good idea to put heel pads in both shoes or one leg will be longer than the other creating an imbalance and possibly leading to other injuries including back injuries.

Liz I really think if you could motivate yourself to do some exercise you would feel better about everything and about yourself, your motivation would automatically improve[msnsmile]
I don't know your timetable, and I know we all lead very busy lives but if you could just set aside 3 half hour slots per week and go for a brisk walk it would be a great start, I know I am more tired when I don't exercise than when I do, I also get the blues more when I don't do any, even if it means getting up half an hour early 3 times a week - to be honest thats the best time to do it because then its done and out of the way, nothing pops up to stop you from doing where as if you leave it till later that often happens. Aiminghigh and Julie B sound like they do it first thing, and I often do mine first thing most of the time but now that my YD is at school I can also fit some in during the day too[msnwink]
Go for it Liz I know you will feels better[sporty][sporty][sporty][sporty][sporty][sporty]

Weigh in for me tomorrow, not sure what it's going to be[msnscared]
Jill, which class have you decided to go to.
We are going away for the weekend and I am going to try and keep on track. I tried on some cropped trousers today that I last wore in Florida, they fitted perfect then and although they still fit there appears to be a roll over the top of the waist band and I want to get rid of that for sure.

I have my weigh in the the morning. This week I haven't ate anything I shouldn't but I've found it difficult to shop, I mainly shop on a daily basis, my freezer is always empty so nothing exciting lurking in there.
I am going to class tomorrow but as I've hardly moved since Saturday I'm not expecting to loose.
Julie, my pain is exactly like that, so painful if I move it in the wrong way it makes me feel sick.
Mizzy well done on the 1000 posts[clap][clap][clap]
Good Luck then Paula , hope it's good news[msnwink]
whilst i remember i must pass this little bit of info on to you Paula , at the moment my husbands work is full of liverpudlian jokes[msnscared] my dh came home with quite a few and some were not very nice!!! but dont worry i've slapped him across the head on your behalf [msnsmile2] cheeky monkey that he is[msnwink]
Mizzy
Oh I hate my freezer, took me hours, time to splash out on a new one when funds permit.
Had to go for a business lunch so had salmon & asparagus sald with leaves - v little salmon, 2 bottles still water & 1 black tea with lemon. Tried to take the hounds out this evening - cue rolling thunder in the skies! They hopped back in the car pdq - tried twice and they did the same thing each time! Eventually nipped down to the woods in the and they were back in the car in about 5 mins!
Supper was spag bog - more pasta than meat and salad, tons of water.
Good luck to anyone being weighed tomorrow and have a good one!

I think I can just about manage to drive today so I will be going for my weigh in[msnscared]
I hope the scales are in a kind mood.
Just a note, at our class last week someone mentioned they get weighed daily at home, must admit I too am guilty of this. Anyway our leader advised we all hide the scales as they (the scales) can determine the rest of your day. In other words if you have lost you will be happy for the day[msnsmile2][msnsmile2][msnsmile2] but if you've gained you will feel low for the day[msncry].
Leg in still very sore, I really will be more careful next time.
Good luck Paula, rest that leg as much as possible too[msnwink]

Well today's the day, I am feeeling quite nervous about going this afternoon, I am glad you will be there Sally. I am dreading being told how much I actually weigh as I know I am not going to like it but at least I will then have a goal to work towards. I'm going to be able to have a good day today as Brian is teaching sailing all day, so I do some work on the computer, then go for a long walk in the sunshine with the dog and try to forget about later.

Good Morning everyone!
The sun is shining and the sky is blue. Really good interval on the treadmill this morning, felt rotten when I got up, I've go really stiff shoulders and neck which is making my head ache and making me feel sick. But made myself get on the treadmill and although I still feel stiff, I feel sooo much better for it. When someone asked me if I wanted anything from the shop yesterday, all I asked for was a 6ft blond swedish masseuse(is that how you spell it?), but they couldn't even manage that! I don't know, can't get the staff! Lots of stretching of neck and shoulders on the cards today, that should sort me out.
Well, I cracked last night, [msnsad]. Food diary for yesterday as follows:
Porridge
Baby carrots and chopped raw pepper, (lots of them), 3 large snack a jacks, an apple and a packet of ryvita minis. (not too good)
Got home from work and had a choc mini roll (don't know why, I don't even like them that much!)oh well, move on
Tea - large salad with wafer thin ham and another apple.
Not too bad but just felt very bitty yesterday. Nover mind, todays another day.
I've been guilty of weighing myself everyday and you're right, it does decide your day. A couple of weeks ago, I weighed 3lb heavier than the day before. I was soo fed up. I don't get on them during the week now, just on a sunday morning.
Had porrdige for brekkie today, planning to have soup for lunch.
Hope you're leg feels better this morning paula. If Liz is away right now, I'm very impressed that she's bothering to weigh in, I don't think I will when I go.
Julieanne, I'm very jealous that your over there and we're over here! Hope you're having a fab time! (of course you will be)
Have a good day everyone, Catch up with you all later,

Good Morning Everyone
it's lovely and sunny here in the northeast of england[msnsmile]t.shirt weather!!!
Paula and Sally good luck with todays weigh-ins, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you both[msnwink]
Julieanne i'm glad your having a lovely holiday[msnsmile2] eat drink and make merry thats what holidays are all about!!!!!!!!! i'll be doing all three when i'm over there next march[msneek] probably whilst i'm in that hot tub[msnembarrased]
have a great day everyone
Mizzy[msnsmile]
God! again we're all guilty of typing at the same time
Jill good luck at class the first one is always the hardest but perhaps if you dm Sally she could meet you outside and then you'll have someone to support you going through those doors for the first time
Julie B i'm not surprised you cracked as you put it, the lunch you had yesterday wasn't very substantial at all, yes the raw veg and the fruit was great, but the snack a jacks and mini ryvitas whilst being low in fat are all highly processed so they dont fill you up for very long at all
how about a trying a wholemeal pitta filled with lean meat and salad and fruit with yoghurt for dessert or alternatively you could have taken a rice or pasta salad, cous-cous? all very filling and would keep you going til tea time[clap]
a choc mini roll is approx 6 syns so not too bad you could have one everyday if you wanted[msnwink] me i'm a big fan of choc options or highlights drinks (2syns) for that choccie fix!!!!!
i think the next SW mag should be in class next week??

Thanks Mizzy, I will send Sally a DM, don't know if she will pick it up though as I think she works some days. Must get away from this computer and go for a walk. Lovely sunny day down here, sun top and going for that walk on the beach.
Jill
Hi Girls, Sorry this week has been mad! What's weird is I did a really long post in here Monday morning, before work, and its gone. Maybe I didn't submit it, very odd. Anyway Monday I was working all day, Tuesday I had to do Tuck Shop duty at school half the day, then head into work. Yesterday I was out again all day, and then had a school meeting in evening, so haven't been online for a while! Every time I did click to come in here, I would get called away, so I have just given up!
I have decided to up my food intake, as nervous as that makes me, just to see if it makes a difference. I am also going for a 30 minute power walk the minute I get up, before I start the family breakfast, to see if that boosts my day. One night I did another 30 min walk again, just to try and boost the metabolism. My legs are killing me today, so its obviously having an effect.
Hope everyone else is going well. Its hard being on a different time zone sometimes! This weekend is a test though. I have a meal out with some girlfriends tomorrow night, then Saturday we've been invited around a family from school to have a BBQ, and Sunday is Australian Mother's Day, and the kids want to take me for lunch! I will have to very careful, and maybe walk for an hour each day, instead of 30 mins!!! EEEEK!
Morning all Just got off the treadmill having done a good 40 mins run.Must plan todays meals although its looking like an orignal day with
courgette red pepper and mint frittatta for lunch and spicy lamb for supper plus fruit muller lights and lots of water
I have a wedding to go to next week so need to look my best.
Back in the dark ages when I was a fitness instructor I used to tell my ladies to hide the scales and buy a tape measure to keep track of what was happening to their bodies somehow losing an inch and a half from the midriff is better to know that losing 1lb .
Have a good day everybody -today is laundry day here -luckily the sun is shining so hopefully it will all dry -but then it will need ironing -but I suppose it all counts as exercise.
Julieb I agree with Mizzy you are not eating enough for a start and you can have a far more substantial lunch than you are allowing yourself. You are setting yourself up to fail by depriving yourself and then getting hungry / tired. (Sorry this is not meant to sound as harsh as it looks in print!)
There are loads of things you can have for lunch, can you take it into work with you? If you can, you can have red day - meat / fish / eggs & salad, green day - rice salad, pasta salad, bulgher wheat etc. Eggs are free at any time so you can have hard-boiled egg salad or make a frittata. If eating something like that is difficult then make a sandwich, and also sticks of peppers, celery, carrots etc.
You can have treats, just plan them in.
Again you didn't eat enough for supper - you could have had potatoes which might have filled you up.
Mag is bi-monthly and last one was out about 4 5/ weeks ago, so a few more weeks yet.
Theresa it sounds as if you are doing well, you are picking us up at different times but we all have the same problems and goals.
Well done Jill for making the decision to go, that's the hardest thing, and then staying focused is the next!
Was feeling quite ill this am so just had water for breakfast, out with the hounds and now feeling better so just off to make a frittata so I can have that with large salad. Supper will be chilli with rice and large salad. Am getting all my old mags & new recipe books out to draw up a menu plan.
Not sure if Mizzy has posted this weeks password on SW - trout.

just the motivation I needed to keep going.[msnsmile2]
I am 2lb away from my stone and 3 1/2lb away to the change stone bracket, I am determined to get there before my hols....... 2 weeks tomorrow:D

[msnsad] I was feeling so despondant I thought I would stop at the shop......that is bad news[msnsad]
I am really glad I threw together a chicken and tomato wholemeal roll, a yoghurt and some grapes.
I will do my weekly shop on the way home whilst I am feeling highly motivated:D

Hello again everyone,
Thanks for the advice Fiona, I know I should eat more really, but like theresa says, its quite a scary thought. I've got so much to lose. Seems like such a mountain to climb, and it doesn't make sense to eat more, especially when I'm not hungry or tired, I just fill up on raw veg and some fruit. I think I'm a scard of carbs cos I used to eat so many of them, I love them, bread, pasta cous cous, etc I think if I eat them I won't lose weight and I find it hard to judge how much carbs have without it being too much! cos too much can't be good either can it! sorry, mumbling pathetically here!
Well done Liz! 1 1/2lb is great - keep it going!
I've just found out that there is a SW club in the next village to me so maybe I'll pay a visit and perhaps that will give me more confidence!
Julie B
Just popped in quickly.
Well done to Liz[clap][clap]
Of course I will wait for Jill and walk in with her[msnsmile2]. Jill I have sent you a DM.
What a lovely sunny day, walked Jessica to school with the dog and was in just a sleeveless to at 8am, perfect.
Catch up later and let you know how I got on.

Well done Liz[clap][clap][clap][clap]
Leg is still very sore Julie.
I was tempted to skip class this week but I didn't and I had gained 0.5lb. I knew it wouldn't be good news as I have hardly ate a thing all week, been in so much pain and don't feel like eating, when I do get hungry I just have toast or a sandwich.
Anyway I gained but I won't next week.......I promise.[msnembarrased][msnembarrased][msnembarrased]
try not to be too downhearted about it or beat yourself up Paula, we are all going to have weeks like this [grouphug] i expected it last week with me not eating when i was sleeping off the seizures but luckily i managed to stay the same, like i said it happens to us all we're only human!!!
you have been doing fantastic so stick with it and you'll see great results next week[msnsmile]
Sally it's really nice of you to meet up with Jill, i'm sure you remember how scared you were and it's very kind of you to do this, it'll make it so much easier for Jill[msnsmile]
well i've had my sleep and i feel marginally better for it, Fiona i hope you start to feel better soon[grouphug]
Mizzy [msnsmile]
Oh I am fine now thanks, went to bed last night with the room spinning round and feeling dizzy - you would think rather more than water had passed my mouth wouldn't you? I think I was just overtired, felt a bit sick (and was[sick] but have drunk nothing but water today. Had my frittata (do you add milk to it Mizzy I have forgotten - shows how long it is since I made some - I didn't and rather thought it need something else to bulk it out?) Just had a few baby toms with it as didn't feel like much else. Am off out with the hounds again in a mo, debating whether or not to go swimming at 6 once all the kids are banned and no noise and splashing. Isn't if funny how quickly you change, I used to be so cross with the adults getting narked about children being there, and now mine are adults (well one has 4 months to go) I am the same!! Had mega row with YD as she wanted to go to someone's house to revise - a 45 min bus journey away from college, then back to Reading, then home - I don't think so. So told her to be home by 7 - let's see if she is!! I know they are stressed because of their AS's but what about SOMs (stressed out mums - or even SOPs - parents!![gun]) I would like to believe she is going to revise, but let's be honest, I don't think their's a hope in hell that she would be.
Paula, for you [grouphug] I echo what Mizzy says, you have done well and get the injury healed first before doing any exercise[msnsmile]
Sally and Jill good luck!!!!!
Fiona glad you are feeling better[grouphug] My ED has stated to put the hours in for her AS's, she has even cancelled her Saturday night birthday celebrations until after the exams - [msneek][msnoo] shock horray LOL!!!! Don't know how long it will last but I am keeping her on a very tight rein[msnwink]
Mizzy glad you feel a bit brighter too[grouphug]
Did 30 mins on my treadmill, everything was sore, my knees were crunching, angles sore and don't mention the buttocks[msnembarrased][msnoo] Also did 10 mins with my 6kg dumb bells and 10 mins on the core ball[msneek][msneek]
Better get back to my B-B-Q!!!

Thanks for the encouragement girls, I am feeling really positive and wish I could bottle this feeling for when I get the munchies.[msnsmile]
I have just done a really good shop with lots of fresh fruit and veg, fresh fish and chicken, so it's salmon for tea with baby new potatoes and salad, then fresh strawbs with fat free fromage frais.
I have bought some ruby grapefruit for breakfast, I had one last week and really enjoyed it. It's a change from cereal and I will have some more fruit or yoghurt with it. Tomorrow I have a day off so I may even do bacon and egg.
Well done for going to class Paula, even though you knew you would gain, I am sure next week will be better for you, but I am worried yhere is no improvement with your leg. Have you thought about going to see your GP?
Mizzy, you have had a really rough time of it recently, hope you start to feel better soon.
Fiona, I feel for you....been there done that read the book and bought the T shirt!!! All I can say is, there is light at the end of the tunnel[msnwink] I know what you feel about the kids in the pool, we always call then "the enemy". I'm not going in the pool today there are too many enemy!!! Or when we are picking a spot on the beach, we look for a place with no "enemy".
Apologies to all of those who have young children, I only mean it in a lighthearted way. I will probably have grandchildren before too long and then "enemy" will become perfectly acceptable again[msnwink]
Julie, your exercise regime puts me to shame, but I did do 2 flights of stairs twice today and parked as far away from the hospital as I could so that I had to walk further. I am going to go out with my son and his fiancee later to walk the dog
Stay good everybody:D
the answer is yes Fiona i do add some skimmed milk when making a fritata
i know what you mean about swimming when there's kids in the pool, on the whole i don't mind the children at all but i do mind some of their language, manners and especially when their parents sit and just let them get on with it
i think wether you have small children our not we all like our p+q, it doesn't mean your a spoilsport
well my tea is cooking and "touch wood" the computer desk! [msnwink]i feel great[msnsmile]
dh is on bath and bed duty tonight so i'm going to chill and watch "house"

Thanks for the support all. Although my leg is still sore Liz it feels much better than yesterday.
Next week we are having a buffet taster in our class, we all have to make and take something along which is either low in syns or syn free.
One lady brought in scotch eggs a few weeks before I joined, she suggested boiling the eggs, wrap in sausage meat from a bowyers low fat sausage, wrap in lean bacon and bake in the oven.......FREE on a red day.
Any ideas on what I can take please, I would like to add something sweet so if anyone has ideas for me please pass them on.
Also in class today we have a basket of fruit for the slimmer of the week, do all classes do this? anyway someone brought in a dragon fruit, very very pretty looking has anyone tried them?
Paula, how about......
Creamy chocolate mouse???
1/2 syn on both green and Original (red) days
100g pot quark
500g pot very low fat natural fromage frais
1 tbsp artificial sweetner
1 sachet of Cadburys highlights
Ground cinnamon and cinnamon sticks to decorate
Place the quark in a bowl with 400g fromage frais, the sweetner and Cadbury Highlights. Mix well and divide between four glasses and chill until needed.
Top each mouse with a spoonful of fromage frais and a dusting of ground cinnamon.
Serve decorated with cinnamon sticks if you like[msnwink]
or
The mouse makes a great cheesecake filling. make the base with crushed amaretti biscuits (1 syn each) and egg white, and set the filling with 2 tsp gelatine dissolved in a little boiling water[msnwink]
P.S Our class does the fruit basket for slimmer of the week too[msnwink]
Frittata is free on either if you don't add cheese or fish or meat Paula, and someone from our class has made the scotch eggs too - they are delicious - she didn't do them with bacon!
20.12 and guess who isn't home yet [msnmad][msnmad], oh boy is she in the dooh dah[}:)]!

Paula how about mini fruit kebabs with a fromage frais dip?
string brightly coloured pieces of fruit, pinepples, grapes, mango etc onto cockyail sticks and arrange them on a plate so that they are like flower petals all pointing out from the centre, then in the middle put a small bowl of fat free fromage frais sweetened to taste.
It does look really nice and we all know that if it looks nice it's going to taste nice[msnwink]
And it's all free!!:D

mines full of nice good healthy foods!! sorry Sharon! you scoff them!![msnwink]
Fiona, i still see the nurse every week, i was naughty this week, cant put my finger on why?
been in constant pain so picky i think?
really looking for a good weight loss next week, didnt have weigh in yesterday as the nurse had a course she had to attend
Oh Liesa when you're in pain you want comfort food so easy to have toast & marmite (if that's what you like) or something similar! Never mind, tomorrow is another day and just got to get back on track.
Liz House is the med show on Channel 4 (so you probably are fed up of anything med related by the evening!) with Hugh Laurie playing a moody bad-tempered doctor in the US - with a very convincing accent. It is brilliant, and shows what a good actor he is, also interesting to see him playing the piano on it every so often (like tonight) - of course he was at Cambridge with Stephen Fry & Emma Thompson so no doubt they can sing and dance and act - some people are just sooo talented. Coming straight after is Greys Anatomy which we have very quickly got hooked on - another med programme but more like an ER with more bed-hopping!
Sally I will look up the link for the frittatas, they are basically like a quiche, but you have no pastry - beat 3/4 eggs together, mix in half a large tub cottage cheese and some semi or skimmed milk and add any ingredients you want - peppers, onion, spinach, tomato - basically any free veggie, cook for 30 mins in a flan dish at 200 degrees. Easy peasy and if you are artistic with the veggies can look very impressive. But have to say I do like the sound of those fruit kebabs Liz, will be putting that on the shopping list.
Guess what time YD was home 9.20[msnmad][gun]. I am sure you can all predict the resulting row!
Didn't get to the pool, but did take the dogs for a very long walk in the woods (1½hrs) with a friend so the length hopefully made up for the speed we moved at as going down windy little paths. Am going to be organised and get cossie & towel out so can perhaps get there tomorrow after dog-walking. It was 38 degrees in my car this evening - dropped to 31 by the time I got to the woods, and 26 by the time I was on my way home at 7.15, so can't really expect them to trot round open land in that heat.

Morning girls, another lovely day here in the South West, and just thinking that this time in 2 weeks I should be sitting in Heathrow traffic permitting.......might even be tucking in to a full English[msnwink] Tha traditional start to our hols.
This morning I am just about to have grapefuit and bacon with scrambled egg[msnwink]had abit of a lie in as it is my one and only day off this week.
Off to town to get some bits for my hols....... no ckothes though, last weeks sort out shows me I have enough for now and enough fo the next size down when I lose more weight!
Might do a CDV and buy some shoes though[msnwink]
Fiona I really don't mind med programmes, quite enjoy them sometimes. Last night it was Viyal Signs with Tamzin Outhwaite which I am really enjoying and I often watch Desperate Midwives, it is very true to everything that goes on in midwifery.
Sharon, evenings are sooooo bad for me as well [msnsad] I always get the munchies.
Trying to hold on to that positive feeling I had yesterday when I lost weight, not too difficult when the sun is shining but the weather forecast after today is poo[msneek]
Leisa, don't let not seeing the nurse give you an excuse to be naughty, stick with akk that healthy stuff in the fridge, if not for the weight loss then for your health!!!![msnsmile2]

Good morning all, well it is just. Yes Mizzy, Sally and I did meet up last night. I was horrified to find out how much I weighed but I am now fully motivated, I think and hope. However when I got home last night and walked in the door hubby presented me with a G and T. Followed this with sea bass and salad for supper.
Have just been shopping and bought all the right things. Not sure what I am going to have for lunch yet, probably a salad with something. I am going to have a problem tonight as we are going to a fund raising quiz night with ploughmans included. As I don't eat cheese, migraines, am not quite sure what I am going to do. When this normally happens I just have the bread and salad but can't do that now. I may sneak some ham in and have that instead.
Just going to unpack the shopping and put it away then off for a walk with the dog. She is a little fed up as she has been sitting in the car and keeps looking at me with a sorrowful face.
Jill
i'm not sure about ploughmans either to be honest Jill, i would personally eat my tea before going and then just eat the little bits i could have, you can still have a good night and enjoy the atmostphere [msnsmile2]
i'm having a breakfast for lunch and perhaps steak and salad for tea
going out to garden later, that counts towards exericse[clap]
Mizzy
Hey girls lovely day again, just had lunch in the garden[msnwink]
Chicken breast with tikka spices, salad with low fat natural yogurt and mint for dressing[clap]
Jill I would do the same as Mizzy, eat before going then the pressure is off[msnsmile2]
Mizzy enjoy the garden[msnwink] and your breakfast/lunch[clap]
Afternoon all. Sorry Sally I forgot to say well done for losing ½lb - I know when we lose it is only .... but this week our team leader had her 2lb of fat on the newbies table. So remember what that looks like and think of ¼ of that disappearing - preferably off your tum or bum or thighs (or in my case any darnwhere!!). It is much better off than on[clap].
Well done to Jill for making the effort - I can tell you I nearly fell of the scales 20 months ago when I first started going, could not believe how heavy I have got. And when I have lost another stone or two I will admit what it was[msnembarrased].
Power walked the hounds this am which the elder one did not appreciate in the warmth so felt better for that, couldn't face any breakfast, forgot to take my tablets (second morning running[gun]) so am writing myself big note to take them as soon as I get home.
Eating my cottage cheese and bulgher wheat salad - put in pineapple, peas, onion, radish & tomato with a mint and fresh lemon juice dressing, very tasty it is too! More fresh pineapple for pud, along with a tangerine and apple.
Keep up the good work everyone, don't let the weekend sabotage everything!

I AM STILL AROUND :)
Just that I have been busy looking after hubby who has been unwell.
He has lost a stone in weight in a month. This is good for him. I am sure it will help with his recovery
We basically cut out junk food. Bought a juicer, breadmaker, and no ready meals sort of things, not that we ate a lot of those things anyway.

I have had a good day all round, couldn't find any comfy shoes in town.....comfort even before style these days[msneek] So despite all my best efforts not to buy clothes I ended up with 2 new T shirts ( just the vest type ones from M+S) and a pair of cropped pants and short sleeved cardigan from Monsoon, they have some gorgeous stuff in there!![msnsmile2]
Why is it that when you are going away you always want something new to travel in? hence the cropped pants. After buying them I now realise they are going to look divine with my flight socks:D:D
Foodwise RED for me today.
Ruby grapefruit, bacon and scrambled eggs.
Fresh salmon with the tastiest pomadorino tomatoes and some rocket.
Fresh pineapple
A satsuma
Spag bol with loads of mushrooms ( wholewheat past as a healthy B[sick][sick])

I'll have a coffee later and use some milk as a healthy A but I have only had 1 B today. Any suggestions?

Food today -
Yoghurt, toast(HB) and marmite
Pasta with cucumber, peppers, spring onions, tomatoes and small amount of tuna (HB) and a banana.
Jacket potatoe with cheese(HA) and sweet chilli beans, I am not too keen on beans but liked these.
Then I had my weekly treat, a bag of minstrals, and they were lovely.
May have a hughlights drink before bed.

Good Morning everyone.
Off to work today. Having a green day today as I haven't had one this week, I find them more difficult when I'm working for some reason, but I have prepared a wholmeal sandwich ( homemade bread[msntongue])with laughing cow chees triangles and some more of the lovely pomadorino tomatoes I had yesterday ( they are definitely on next weeks shopping list) Mixed bowl of grapes and cherries and a yoghurt.
Just about to go and have brekkie, back to my usual crunchie bran and a banana.
Have a good weekend everyone.[msnsmile2]

i'm afraid i couldn't get logged on at all last night, oldest child having a really tough time of it because i had to change her routine[msnsad] she can be quite scary and very difficult now that she's older[msnscared][msnmad]
food wise i had a really good day yesterday i had
usual toast and ginger jam for brekkie
bacon, sausages, egg, tomatoes and giant flat mushrooms for lunch
yoghurt and banana
morrocon spiced chicken with roasted veg for tea
2 ameretti biscotti (1.5syns)
[angel][angel][angel]
Jule i have some bad news for you the SE day yesterday is all to pot[msnscared] sorry to be the bearer[msnsad] but all was not lost i will dm you with some little tweaks and yesterday looked like a fab super duper "red" day to me[angel]

Morning all just about to have my porridge -wish I could find something else to have but I just love the stuff !
Today will be green I think although not sure what to have yet the fridge is well stocked so plenty of choice.
Well done to those who have lost this week whatever the amount it all helps :)
I was clearing out my wardrobe to take some things to the Race for Life donation station when I came across a pair of cropped trousers I remember making about 2 years ago and never wore much because the pattern was wrongly sized [msnwink] however I tried them on and they fit perfectly so unfortunately they didn't go in the bag but it really made me feel good knoweing I had lost weight -all I need now is sun to be able to wear them .
Have a good week end people .[msnsmile2]

here's the problem if you can dig out the smaller of the two food optomising books (pg's 10 and 11) the pictures on here will be a great guide for you
during the day you have your usual two healthy A and B's and these can be eaten seperate like you poridge or as a side to your main meal or a snack in between meals
now with lunch yesterday you need some red food and green food on that 1/3rd of the plate that had the chicken tikka spices and then the other 2/3rds would be your super free foods (you could have had the chicken on a baked potato or with some rice)
same again with tea you needed to add something from the green to your tuna (perhaps some boiled new potatoes?) on that 1/3rd of the plate
to me it looks like your not eating both your healthy b's either which i know it's sounds trivial but your body does need them, this could be the reason your not losing, perhaps your just under that food intake that your body needs so it's hanging onto those fat stores[msnsad]
i hope you don't hate me for being the bearer of the bad news[msnscared] but i know how much you want this[msnsmile]
looking on the bright side of all this, apart from missing that healthy B yesterday was a super duper "red" day [angel][clap]

Mizzy thanks for this, I had a feeling it was the case, don't worry about being the bearer of bad news, I would rather know[msnwink]
At least it was a super red day though eh!![clap][clap][clap] I am happy with that[msnwink]
I will def make sure I have both my HC a+b's too, like Liz it was the b I was missing.
Thanks for keeping an eye on me, all feedback gratefully received[clap]
Sorry you couldn't get logged on last night but hope Jo is OK today[grouphug]
Paula what a shame about the weather, its the same here too[msnsad]
Janny I bet you feel good[clap] I am back into my cropped combats that I have not worn for two years too and its a great feeling, just want to get into the jeans from 10 years ago now[msnwink][msnwink]
Have a good day all despite the rain[msnsmile]
Oh I just love being able to get into clothes that you have never worn, it's such a good feeling - but what have you done to the sun Janny?
Had some good news yesterday after a bummer of a week at work (will explain all in due course) so had a takeaway chinese and 2 glasses of white wine. Hmmmmmmmmm.
Back on track today, will make some porridge after I have been out with the hounds, will have the remainder of the bulgher wheat salad for lunch, am stuck for suggestions for supper. We are off to see Santana at Wembley and will need to leave at about6, so I need to have something light ready for us to eat before we go. Any suggestions would be welcome, do have some tomato sauce from a tom pasta ready in the fridge so could always do that.

Good morning, logging on before taking our border collie off to agility class, good for her and me too.
Went to the quiz last night and did as Julie and Mizzy suggested had a meal before I went. I then had 1 1/2 glasses of red wine and nibbled on the salad and brought the cheese back for the dog, she really enjoyed it. We did fairly well at the quiz, came 9th out of 30 teams. Would have done better but we played our joker in our worst round, so instead of getting 20 points, only got 10, must do better next time.
Meals yesterday were cereal and rhubarb for breakfast, cold chicken and salad for lunch and then fish and salad for supper. Perhaps Mizzy can tell me if I am missing something.
Tonight is going to be difficult again. I am playing in a club tennis tournament between 5-7pm and then have to dash home, quick shower and be down at our sailing club for a do down here. No food provided but am not sure when I will manage to eat as we have to be there by 8pm. I think it will be a sandwish on the run.
Have a good day everyone.

By the way well done Janny, you really do feel good when you fit into clothes you have not worn for a while. I am looking forward to that.

Jill, sandwich on the run is where the trouble starts for me, its not eating enough syndrome so why not prepare something early and chill it ready for a quick heat up in the micro?? Spag bol is a good one, sub the spag for pasta shapes (wholemeal as HC b) put it all in a bowl then just re heat when you need it[msnwink]

I think its the reason I stayed the same too[msnwink] I felt unwell last Saturday and only had toast and cereal for tea[msneek] I feel on SW you need to eat proper meals[msnwink]
Jill most supermatket sandwiches/shop bought are very high in syns but you can keep the syns down by buying a butties that has wholmeal bread, use the bread as a healthy extra, go for chicken or lean meat and then the sandwich doesn't become too bad at all
the only downside like Julie says there's no "filling power" and you tend to feel hungry not long after eating it, adding some fruit and a yoghurt will help you stay fuller for longer[msnsmile]
your food diary for yesterday looks great and well done for staying in control at the quiz[clap]
the weather is bloomin awful here but the grass does look very green so at least thats a little compensation
i'm off to make some chicken kebabs for lunch[msntongue] nice and simple, cubed chicken breast chopped courgette, peppers, onion and tomato thread onto wooden skewers then sprinkled with spices (i'm using shotz cajun chicken one) takes a quick 20-25 mins in the oven, these are lovely on a barbie but unfortunately we aint got BBQ weather

Julie and Paula, I know what you say makes sense but I just will not have time to get home, shower, dress and get out again by 7.45 so it will have to be a homemade sandwich with cold meat and salad in it and perhaps an apple in the car on the way. I then probably will not want much to drink either, Brian thinks it is great me not drinking it means I do the driving. Now off to cook a steak for myself, hubby out sailing, and have it with salad. Would have liked a few potatoes with it but decided not to as I had cereal for breakfast and bread later so thought I should not.
Just back from dog agility and am feeling very pleased with Tansy, she is doing so well that she has been promoted to the advanced class next week. It means I shall have to do much more running with her as it will involve doing full courses and not just short ones. Also fewer dogs so more to do, all-in-all must be good from the exercise point of view.

Probably not what should be posted on a healthy eating regime thread ( I hate the word diet)
but its funny so here goes .
Chocolate is a Vegetable
Chocolate is a Vegetable: Chocolate is derived from cocoa beans. Beans are vegetables. Sugar is derived from either sugar CANE or sugar BEETS. Both are plants, which places them in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a vegetable. To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is dairy. So chocolate bars are a health food.
Chocolate-covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.
If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly.
The problem: How to get 2 pounds of chocolate home from the store in a hot car. The solution: Eat it in the car park.
Diet tip: Eat a chocolate bar before each meal. It'll take the edge off your appetite, and you'll eat less.
Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger.
Put 'eat chocolate' at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Now, isn't that handy?
If not for chocolate, there would be no need for control top pantyhose. An entire garment industry would be devastated. You can't let that happen, can you?
Remember, 'stressed' spelt backward is 'desserts'.
Tell everyone you meet about the wonders of chocolate, because the more who know about this amazing vegetable, the more we can all can share in the joy!

Hi everyone,
Sorry not to post for a while, its been a busy couple of days.
My son played in a kwik cricket tournament last night and because of the thunder etc had to keep stopping, so instead of finishing at 9.00 we eventually got home at 10.45. Got the little darlings in bed at about 11ish, you can imagine what a lovely mood they've all been in today! Not very tolerant of each other shall we say! Still, Tom had a wonderful time playing cricket so I guess thats worth it. Went to Ikea this afternoon - avoided the meatballs! and only spent £18.00 on odds and ends, thats unheard of for me!
Not been too bad food wise but not being very mindful of my intake. Must get back down to it properly, should be weighing myself in the morning, don't think I've lost this week though, but will carry on regardless.
I'm off now to look at all your mugshots so I can put names to faces, then maybe I'll be brave enough to post one of me (if I can suss how to do it[msnscared])
Hope your all well,
Julie B

Hi again,
Well I've been on the mugshots page.
Its great to put names to faces, people are never as you imagine are they. You all look very nice people (got that impression already though from the thread!)
I've tried to upload my photo[msnscared] but it didn't work. I clicked on attach a file and then browse to find the picture on my computer and then clicked on upload. It looked like it was working until the last minute and then came up with page cannot be displayed. Am I doing it wrong? Can anyone help? [msnembarrased]
Julie B
Julie b is your picture the correct size - if it is too large it doesn't work.
Eyes held open with matchsticks, just got back from Santana concert - briliant, diet went to pot as starving hungry and also had 2 smirnoff ices! Only had 2 ryvita biscuits during the day and some fruit so perhaps not a complete disaster.
See you all later tomorrow - will definately be having a lie in!

nice to hear your all sticking to healthy eating! i have been so good, when for a meal at friends last night, first time out in ages, very depressed about joints, and had 1 glass of white wine, it was lovely, and ate prawn salad, again lovely, lovely evening, but very tired now and very stiff and in pain!

Still, today is the start of another week, back on track for me and more effort on the treadmill perhaps (been a bit lazy in the latter part of last week). I know I'm going to eat like a pig when I'm there so I have to put in the work now so I have room to put a few pounds on.

Good morning all, stuck to my plan yesterday, after tennis, which was a disaster, it was a round robin and my partner and I were in the strongest group and the oldest pair by 20 years, he is 71 and I am 5? so it really was not fair, we kept saying we should have a head start of 2 games.
Breakfast this morning was a cooked breakfast, bacon, egg, mushrooms and tomato, all cooked without fat. We are off for a long walk later with the dog. Have not got as far as thinking about lunch or dinner yet.
Have a good sunday everyone.

Well off to the cinema this afternoon with my eldest son to watch Mission Impossible 3. I'm armed with my fruit nibbles in my little tuppaware box so won't be tempted when Richard comes back with the bucket of sweet popcorn etc!
...oh I can smell that bacon now !!!! [msnwink]
Hi girls, hope you are having a good weekend.
Julie the weather has become really cold down under, I know its not 'freezing' like at home, I swore I would never complain about winter again, but you do get used to warm temperatures, and a sudden drop feels very chilly. We have had to put heating on this last few days, haven't had heating on since last October, so I guess we shouldn't complain!
I am going through a terrible test with this dieting lark, this weekend was my meal out with girls, BBQ at friends last night, and Mothers Day today. I completely blew it today by having some KFC chips! Only about 12, but I had the munchies, after drinking 4 vodkas last night! Plus it was Mothers Day, and I had a McDonalds Deli Choices Roll, which is fairly healthy, when we were out!
This week its hubby's birthday, so meal out, and then next weekend its a girls weekend away. I truly think I am going to blow it, its soooo hard. I will be happy to not put on and remain the same, I just hope I don't put on, I am increasing the exercise!

Hi all, well I have been up since 9.40 (does going back to bed with the paper and a cup of tea count!!) Walked the hounds, been to the sorting office to post an urgent letter and done the Farmers Market. Most unhappy as my usual stalls who sell organic veggies weren't there so just bought 18 free range eggs, rhubarb, onions and some chutney.
Well after yesterday's disastrous day back on track today. I had taken sandwiches (mine being low-cal version), baby toms and fruit up for us to eat after the concert, DH decided he was starving and wanted a meal, so we found a Nepalese restaurant and had a curry.
I have just had my sarnie for lunch and am doing chicken in tomato sauce with courgettes & onion & peppers with salad for supper.
Theresa - and this is do what I say not what I do!! When eating out if you go for the healthy option, a steak or chicken or fish with salad or veggies rather than anything in pastry or a sauce then you will be fine. If you allow for the drink then it is no problem, just have to cut down the days before and after.

Julie B, don't get down about your static weight, Half the time I feel better just for making the effort, even if I don't lose ( I hope I still feel that way if I don't lose this week[msnoo])
Leisa, sounds like you were very restrained on your evening out with friends, much better behaved than I would have been[msnwink] Just like Sharon and her trip to the cinema, don't know if I could be so strong willed
Theresa, sorry you are going through a bit of a battle with the eating plan at the moment, once you let go it's hard to get back on track, but we are all rooting for you,CAN do it!!![clap][clap][msneek]
Hubby wants to go to the cinema at the weekend to see The DaVinci Code, we haven't seen a film together for at least 10 years ( except on the plane [msnwink])so I have to make the effort. It depends on how you strained it Paula. It won't usually bruise if you just strain it exercising. It it possible you could have banged it? The bruising would explain why it has been so painful.

(quote)However, there are some things that should be checked before assuming the injury is caused by a hamstring tear. A hamstring tear will feel tender to the touch, and may be bruised. There may also be bruising over the back of the knee. Movements such as bending, e.g. touching toes, will be painful. However, pains in this area are not always due to a hamstring tear, let us not jump to conclusions. If when leaning back, or when running your hands down either side of the leg, there is no pain, then the problem may lie in the lower back, like in Sciatica, caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve which runs down the back of the leg. It may also be a muscle spasm. This can sometimes happen in response to a knee injury, restricting movement of the damaged joint. (unquote)
not sure if this is of any help? just take it easy.........

Just checking in before I go to bed.
Not too bad food wise today, trying to eat more but not too much, here goes
Porridge for brekkie (as usual, I just love it!)
Pitta with salad and a little bit of sliced chicken, and an apple
Tea was Chilli con carne, (I drained the fat off the mince once cooked) with boiled rice. I think I had too much rice but never mind, Still didn't drink enough water, will try harder tomorrow.
Any advice anyone? Have I gone from one extreme to another? Still a bit scared of those carbs! Reassurance please!

Theresa stay positive!!! Don't give up it will pass and you will be back on track again soon[grouphug]
Forgot to say last night but I did my 30 mins on the treadmill yesterday and it was a real struggle, mind you I felt rough all day[msnsad]
I have booked a session with my personal trainer/friend for Thursday to review my workout as I have noticed a few loose areas as the weight has come off[msneek] I have not seen him for a work out for almost 11 months[msnscared] so I think I will be very stiff on Friday[msnoo][sporty]
Mizzy good luck with weigh in tonight[clap][clap][clap]
Have a great day all and remember eat but don't cheat!!!

Great photo JulieB!!! I don't know what your weight is now in relation to that Phot, but I wouldn't mind being your weight. [msnwink]
Never mind, Iam going to get there slowly but surely, I am absolutely determined.
Hubby told me last night that he is home all week, working in UK ( he usually works in Brussels Mon - Fri) it is lovely to have hom home, but I will have to rethink this weeks menus slightly [msneek]
Have a good day all.[msnsmile]
Looking Great Julie B
i've had about 4 hours sleep last night[msnsad] so it'll be lots of coffee for me this morning - sorry Julie!![msnscared]

nice to meet you Julieb
lovely photo!!
Morning all, let's have a good start to the week, think positive and those of us slacking (like me!) get our As into G!
Walked the hounds and just had my breakfast, decided I was going to eat whether I was hungry or not, and amazingly enough half way round pounding in my wellies (drizzling) started to feel starving. So just had porridge and rhubarb and a slice of the frittata I made last night.
Chicken was delicious last night, I had marinated it in lemon and a soupcon of oil, so it was moist and v tasty.
Green day today-
B -porridge & rhubarb
L -frittata & bulgher wheat salad
S - jacket pot, tuna & v low fat mayo with kidney beans & large salad
Have bought some veggie mince, will need to compare the packet on SW site to see if there are any syns, gals said Dad will never eat that, I said what he doesn't know won't harm him, and if I mix it with ordinary mince no chance! I can see I am going to have to cook it without any of them knowing.
Good news, YD has found her phone - in her room. That says it all really doesn't it.[msnmad] Physics practical tomorrow - oh we are all sweetness and light here at the moment!
Anyone watch the Moors Murder thing last night? I had no idea Brody was a Scot, but OMG he was barking. Bearing in mind it was early 60's surely Myra Hindley's parents would have been kicking up about her living in sin? Particularly as catholic etc. My father virtually cut me off for doing that in 1977!
forgot to say thanks girls for all your kind words when i has such a horrible afternoon yesterday[grouphug]
i'm having a quiet morning because i'm still tired and then i'm off to see my neurologist this afternoon [msnscared] because of the various school runs and such dh cannot come with me so he's made me a list of all my "faults" for the neurologist[msneek]because he knows i'll never remember to tell him
i struggle to remember the correct words for everyday items and i will replace words in sentences with the wrong word or struggle to find the word i want to say, it's very frustrating for both of us[msnsad]
i've just had my usual toast for brekkie but no ginger jam, so i've had sliced banana with honey drizzled on top, it was a nice change but i'll be back to the jam tommorow [msnwink]
planning on a omelette (veggie) for lunch and maybe thai fish cakes with chilli sauce for tea
have a good day everyone and lets make it a super positive week with 100% commitment[clap][clap][clap]
Mizzy
Well I didn't put on, but I didn't lose.
Bit disappointed as I really did crank up the walking, but now wondering if I shouldn't have increased the food as well. So this week I am just going to keep the extra walking up, and not the extra food and see if that works![msncry]
Of course its the extra muscle that's weighing me down this week! [sporty][msnembarrased][msncry]
Does anyone have the password this week, I wanted to look up some Soup Recipes on SW, as its getting colder here!
Thanks, and I will try and be positive this week like you said Fiona! [beer]
oh dear Theresa, i know you must be gutted but like you said it the wrong time of the month, stay positive and stick with it and you will get there[clap]
food wise i wouldn't cut back too drastically if your body is telling you your hungry then you must eat, but keep up with the walking like i've said before your doing great
i dont get the new password til tonight but passwords usually last for two weeks so try "trout"

Thanks Mizzy ~ you know that 'flat' feeling, but still I am feeling 'flat' not 'fat'. I still like what I have achieved, and like my new clothes, so its all good. I just want to lose some more!
Thanks for the password....I'm off to get inspired!
Have a great day there, its a dark night here now!

Good morning all, hope all goes well this afternoon Mizzy, I am sure your dosage will be sorted out and you will soon be running on all four cylinders.
Just been off to play tennis, managed 10 minutes before the rain came down and as none of us wished to end up with injuries by slipping on a wet court decided to finish. Will have to make up for this afternoon with an extra long walk with the dog. Hubby is taking her this morning.
Lunch yesterday was cold smoked mackrel and salad with an apple.
Dinner was steak, runner beans and new potatoes followed by strawberries and melon, plus a small glass of red wine.
Breakfast this morning, sultana bran and rhubard
Lunch will be egg salad and apple
Dinner quorn mince made into something, have not decided what yet, I have to disguise it well as Brian always says he can tell the difference, not sure if he can or just knows what it is because he saw the packet. Strawberries and melon.
Did not watch the Moors Murder last night we watched Hannibal and golly was it gory or what? Interesting though as I did not actually know the story of him, apart from the elephants going over the Alps.
Have a good day everyone.
Plus a muller light at some point.
Mizzy good luck this afternoon at the neurologist[grouphug]
Theresa sorry you stayed the same, we all know how you feel, very annoying when you work so hard, but stick with it it will come off[msnsmile2]
Fiona, glad YD found her phone! I did not watch the moors murders on TV last night, can't watch anything like that find it too upsetting when children are involved[msnsad]
Jill food diary looking good!!!![clap][msneek]
Liz its nice when hubbys who work away are suddenly at home, I always feel like its holiday time when mine is at home[msnwink]
Well my ED has been doing SW with me for 2 weeks and she has lost 8lbs even though she had a birthday last Tuesday[clap][clap][clap] She feels much better too, more energy etc[clap][clap][clap] I am really proud that she has stuck to it so well[clap][clap]
Have a great day all!!!

Hi Everybody,
Just popped in to say hello,we got back from Florida on Friday after a 2 week break!!!!
I will not be writing a trip report or putting pics on unless you all want to hear about
Lowes ,Home depot,Sams Club ,Target, and of course good old Walmart,we spent most of our holiday in one or the other of these stores,my DH spent a full week on his knees putting down maple flooring in all bedrooms, and i spent a full week spring cleaning after!!
We also had the exterior of the villa painted plus the pool deck, thanks to Steve Cheetam who did a very good job for a very fair price.
The good news is we did not put any weight on in fact i lost a pound, MIL was looked after by my youngest daughter for the two weeks,i think she was really glad to get home!!
Catch you all later,
Just like to say well done to everyone you all seem very motivated.
Sheena.
thats wonderful mews Julie about your daughter, i bet your so proud[msnsmile2]
i've got my daughter eating healthily but it's very, very hard because she doesn't recognise when she's full so she's always hungry, i'm only going to weigh her once a month so i tell you how well she's doing in 3 weeks time
Jill i absolutely hate quorn mince with a vengence, funnily enough though i like the other quorn products, it's just the texture of the mince - good luck hiding it!
i'm off to the hospital at 2 and then i'm rushing about everywhere will log on as soon as i get back from class to share the news!!!! hope it's good[msnwink]
mizzy
good to have you back Sheena and great news about your holiday weight loss[clap]
i'm pleased about your mil too, hope things are getting better for you on that front[grouphug]
Mizzy
Thanks Mizzy, good luck with Joanne[msnwink]
Sheena sounds like a busy time was had in Florida!!! well done on not putting on the lbs[clap][clap][clap]
Off to do some work in the office[msnscared]

Mizzy I think I will have to put lots of spice, etc. with the mince, then serve with spaghetti and puts lots of cheese on his and hopefully he will not notice the difference. Just got back from the solicitors from making new wills and off to do the lunch.
Thinking of you at your appointment
Jill
Afternoon all -I am late checking in today as we have an overnight guest tonight and his bed was covered with all the things I am collecting ready to go to Florida so I had to find a new home for it all ,then clean the room and make the bed .
Had a good day yesterday
Porridge and a banana
Corn and coriander chowder very quick ,tasty and filling and the type of thing made for store cupboard ingredients.
Roast chicken with lots of veggies
fruit and yogurts and lots of water.
Will be forced to a restaurant tonight but will chose wisely.
Fiona glad Pips found her phone -its amazing what hides in a teenagers bedroom -somewhere in my sond room is a carpet!
Wish her well with her exam -Martin is doing AS General Stdies today -as exam he assures me he could not really revise for -not sure I am with him 100% on that :(
Have a good day every body.
Back from my lovely weekend away. Weather was lovely Jessica even got sunburn on her shoulders yesterday[8D]
Left Rachel home alone[msnscared], she was working, second time we have left her, thought it would be easier second time but it's not. Came home to find front door all locked up but patio doors unlocked[msnmad].
She knows not to have a party but had about 8 friends round for breakfast Sunday morning, thankfully they cleared up although I don't think it was Rachel, more like her friend Laura.
Ate very good over the weekend and have a chicken roasting in the oven for tonight, will have to pop to shops to get something to go with it, maybe I will make a ratatouii(not sure how to spell that).
Well done to Sheena for not putting on while in Florida, how do you do it.
Good luck for this evening Mizzy and I hope everything goes well this afternoon.
Well done to Julie's daughter, 8lb is great[clap][clap]
Sorry if I missed anyone.

I watched it Fiona, compulsive viewing. It all happened so close to where I grew up.
I remember we often drove the main road that bypassed the Hattersley estate and my Mum would say that there was a man who had lived there and did "funny things" to young children, she was always very serious about it and I found it quite frightening. I never knew that it was Hindleys BIL who spilled the beans. Will be watching part 2 tonight.
Julie, I love the new avatar[msnsmile2][msnwink]

Now doesn't that sea look gorgeous, and unlike in the summer, it was not too hot, would have had a dip if we had time.
Julie your daughter has done so well, my ED is meant to be starting back this week, and now saying she can't afford to join, keep telling her doesn't mean she doesn't start the diet!
Must go an get salad etc sorted as potatoes are cooking in the oven.
Have a good evening everyone, and good luck for anyone else having their weigh-in tomorrow. Have consultants appointment for ED tomorrow morning to try and resolve the problems she has been having with her ear. Well I made a chilli with the quorn, hubby did not notice that it was quorn just said that it was not as flavoursome as sometimes. Shows I can fool him sometimes. Served it with a baked potato and veg.
Off to collapse now.
Jill
well i'm just back from a very busy class and i've lost 1lb[msnsmile2]
i'm happy with that but so wanted that extra 1/2 lb for my two stone award[clap]will have to be super good next week because i really, really want that award and i'm at cadburys world at the weekend!!
i had good and bad news form the hospital, good is that my "faults" are side effects to the meds and bad news it's gonna get worse before it gets better, or a possible change of drugs and the mri will be in days rather than weeks[msnscared]
Fiona looking good girl on your pics[msnwink]
Julie love the new avatar, it's like you with the blonde bob[msnsmile]
Good Luck to all those weighing in tommorow[clap][clap][clap]
