Lovely pictures JulieB and Fiona.
Julie I love the new avatar.
Today has been a bit of a mess to be honest. We were at a family funeral most of the day so I ate as sensibly as I could. For breakfast I had beans on toast and for dinner which was late afternoon I had green salad, coleslaw, potato salad and chicken. Breaded mushrooms and garlic dip[msnembarrased] and two tiny spring rolls. Small peice of chicken with the skin removed. Got a banging headache now.
I went to the doctors this evening because my leg and foot is really badly bruised and I am in quite alot of pain, well my doctor thinks I've torn some fibre and I have to rest as much as possible. Now I know I'm eating more fibre but I didn't think it would sink to my legs.:D
Well done Mizzy[clap][clap][clap]
Paula, I can imagine that you are in pain, I tore either tendons or legiments in my back a while ago and was in agony, take it easy.

Liz - That pic of me was March 2003, I'm now about 1 1/2 stone heavier than that having recently lost 18lb over the last 10-12 weeks. Slowly but surely is the best way to do it and its great that you're so determined, keep going.
Mach 2 - Great new avatar - thank you soo much for doing mine, I couldn't have done it in amonth of sundays! Hope your tummys better now and good luck for the weigh in tomorrow - hope you get that award!
Bad luck theresa - don't give up, like everyone says, it'll show next week!
Sheena - HI, I'm newish to this thread so hello from me. How on earth did you manage to go to Florida and not put on weight? Bottle it and we'll all have some! Mind you, it sounds like you didn't have time to eat anyway!
Fiona - ditto about the carpet, my ED is just the same, goodness knows whats lurking in that room, I dread to think! Lovely pics by the way!
Paula - poor you, the only advantage is that its a perfect excuse to be weighted on for a change - make the most of it! Hope it starts to feel better soon.
Mizzy - on the positive side, at least the problems are sortable, not nice but I suppose it could be worse (easy for me to say of course, its not me suffering with it!) Good luck with your MRI, do you know when it is yet? Well done on you 1lb loss, thats another packet of butter!
Well my day as follows:-
brekkie - porridge
lunch - ham and salad roll, apple
tea - soup, salad and bread.
Not too good I know but so hectic today. YD had hospital appointment to have the cast taken off her broken arm, she was terrified poor thing (she's only 7), managed to get her through that but she's very protective of it understandably, should improve over the next few days. Collect my son from Tennis after school, cook tea for them and DH then take son to cricket practice then back to do the dishes - dishwasher breaks (again - its 12 years old and on its way out but DH keeps fixing it to limp it along for a bit longer)
then collect son from cricket then bath the lot of them then cup of coffee then bed for kids then prize the laptop off DH to come and catch up with you lot! Phew!!! Another day gone!
Sorry, gone on a bit again, bad habit I'm afraid, chatterbox.
Speak to you all tomorrow,
Julie B

Hi Julie,
The doctor gave me nothing except the advise to rest. Easier said than done I'm afraid. But as we are all Mum's together you will know what I mean. My parents are also in Florida at the moment and we still have a buisness to run.
Mizzy I'm sorry I missed your postbut well done you are doing brilliant[clap][clap][clap]

Hi Girls, it's a beautiful morning here in Swindon, it wasn't forecast to be like this so what a lovely surprise.
Brilliant news on the weight loss Mizzy, nearly 2 stone now that's fantastic!!![clap][clap][clap] Can't wait til it's my turn to say that:)
Julie good luck with the weigh in today[msnsmile2]
Fiona, I think your photos are lovely and looking at them I reckon you and I are a similar size and shape[msnoo] You will probably now feel very insulted if you find out you are 2 stone lighter than me[msnembarrased][msnembarrased]
Glad you have been to the Dr, Paula, I couldn't possibly see how that bruising and pain could be a straightforward strain!![msnsad]
Stay good everyone and have a lovely day:D
Good Morning Everyone
Julie and Liz good luck with todays weigh ins, i'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you
and i think someone else gets weighed today too but my brain is still fuzzled this morning - is it you Fiona? if so the good luck!!!!!
hope i haven't missed anyone out[msnembarrased]
have a great day everyone[angel]

<blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:Fiona, I think your photos are lovely and looking at them I reckon you and I are a similar size and shape You will probably now feel very insulted if you find out you are 2 stone lighter than me[/quote]
Liz I bet you we are not a million miles apart! I am 5' 8" so has been easy to disguise until got too huge!!
Weigh in day for me today, another night with virtually no sleep due to the tantrums & tiaras going on at home. Huge row with YD vs rest of family last night over - can you believe this - because I asked her to set the table. She stropped off to a friend's house without telling us and is communicating with me by text message via a friend's phone only. She does at least have her medication with her this time, but I only hope she has got to college early for her exam today.
Too churned up to eat anything so far, but will see how I am later on, just off out with the hounds and then got hospital appointment with ED.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all, Fiona, the trials and tribulations of being a parent[msnwink]
Mizzy at least you are getting somewhere and the hospital are doing something, I am sure you will soon start to feel better, just stay positive. Well done for loosing the 1lb, don't be downhearted as I am sure your'e not feeling too good has affected your weight loss.
Paula, take care because if you do not do it now it will only take longer to recover, I know it is very frustrating and you probably feel so stupid for allowing it to happen in the first place but we all do things like that at some time.
I have just read the above and suddenly realised that I am sounding like an old hand at this slimming lark instead of a newcomer, sorry about that.
Fiona, I always say that if I was three inches taller I would be a perfect weight:D:D
Had Kashi and rhubard for breakfast and in a short while taking the dog for her morning walk, badminton later on. Then will think about lunch and dinner.
Have a good day everyone.
Jill
i'm not downhearted about the weight loss at all Jill, i just really wanted that little extra 1/2lb to get my 2 stone award[msnwink]
i've sort of accepted that it has slowed down and i'm looking at it this way, 1lb a week til christmas is much more than i need to get to target so i'll be nice and trim for the big new years bash[msnsmile2]
my consultant said slow and steady may not be what i want but long term it will help me keep it off[msnsmile] i do hope so!
i'm planning on a green day today so i will probably have pasta for lunch and maybe a chow mein for tea
Fiona is that clearwater on your pics? it looks lovely and so do you[msnsmile] Good Luck with todays weigh in
Paula hope your feeling better soon [grouphug]
Mizzy
Fiona, oh the joys of being a mum to teenage girls[grouphug]
Rachel has her first exam on the 23rd and is off on study leave for 4 weeks from Friday, only goes in for exams, wonder how much work she will do here.
Today I am having a green day, meals all planned.
Breakfast small amount of cereal and toast and marmite (HEA and 2BS)
Lunch pasta with teaspoon extra light mayo, peppers, toms, cucumber, spring onions and cheese(HEA) and fruit.
Dinner cottage pie made with quorn mince and loads of veg then yohurt and fruit.
Fingers crossed Julie, Fiona and Liz.
No work today but spending the whole day cleaning, washing etc.

Must concentrate on the water, must concentrate on the water!

Great new Fiona well done
[clap][clap][clap]
I feel much more motivated again, am going to go back to the gym or swim at least twice a week as well as the dog walking. Nice recipe for a spinach and pea & mint frittata in the new mag, so am going to try that out - particularly as I have so much spinach bolting in the garden!
Spent ages on the phone to YDs tutor - she assures me she is ok and thinks she will capitulate within a few days, and we are right to refuse any money (she has v little or none) as only thing to lever her with. We both feel she is in a blind panic about her exams and this is her way of giving herself ammunition if she does badly, or else she just doesn't know what she is doing at all!
I sat there looking at my dogs last night, thinking to myself, why didn't I stick to dogs. No I don't mean that really, but there are times when they are absolute [}:)]s!

Well done Fiona, Mizzy and Julie.
Julie, it must be great to get your 1 stone award-that's a real milestone!
Foodwise, I've had a good couple of days. Ate very healthily with lots of fruit and veg, with a Solero for a treat (under 100 cals). Having the morning off work tomorrow to see my poor mum who I feel I'm neglecting at the moment-I'm taking her to see a recording of "Countdown" which she loves. Going to exercise now!
Carole
PS Fiona-I really understand what you're going through with your YD. My 17 y/o is on "study" leave(ha-ha!) for his A Levels and keeping track of what he's doing is near impossible. We had a huge confrontation on Monday night which resulted in tears all round. I was down about it all yesterday and still am. Hope everything works out ok for you. It's not easy when they're this age is it? I find I'm spending a lot of time wishing mine were still little [msnsad]
Morning all,
My 17 y/o has settled down into her revision, at last!! She is also on study leave now too[msnwink] Having been through this twice already with my older boys all I will say is things do get better and now that they are almost 22 and nearing the end of Uni they are more like my best friends now, all that c**p goes away I promise, they both admit they needed the structure we tried very hard to impose[msnmad] now they tell me!!!! So keep up the pressure they DO need it! - only thing is I have another two little ones still to go through it all[msneek]
Hope everyone one is motivated today, stay on track and eat but don't cheat OK[msnwink]
P.S Fiona which mag is the recipe in? Can you post the recipe for spinach and pea & mint frittata, sorry only if you have time[msnsmile] It sounds lovely!!
Have woken up full of cold, it would have helped if I had slept last night[msnsad]
Peter has lost 2lb this week, I will have to wait until tomorrow to find out. Will see if the girls have lost any when they get up.
We all seem to be having a great time with A/AS levels[msneek]. Rachel is the easy one, goodness knows what it will be like with the other 2.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning, well done Fiona for loosing and for the award. sally hope you feel better soon. Colds at this time of the year always seem worse than in the winter.
Reading all the above don't feel I have missed anything with AS levels, etc.
Menu today, bran flakes and rhubard for breakfast, lunch will be egg salad, dinner will be quorn sausages, veg and potatoes. Throw in an apple, strawberries and muller light somewhere along the way. Shortly off to play badminton then walk the dog, probably in the rain and then off to my voluntary job this afternoon.
Catch up with all the news later.
Jill
good morning everyone
Sally [grouphug] hope you feel better soon
Well haven't you all got problems with all these a/as studies and exams, i really hope it all gets better soon and all the worry and hassle will have been worth it
i'm planning another green day today as i've got quorn sausages to use up so will probably have those for lunch, i'm gonna chop them up and stick them in some cous cous
and i'm planning on stuffed roasted peppers for supper, again saving as many syns as poss so yoghurt and fruit only for snacks
have a good day everyone [angel]
Mizzy
I am going nuts I think. I did a long post before and its got eaten somewhere, and then just now I lost my post again. Third time lucky.
Anyway, I was trying to congratulation Julie, Mizzy & Fiona on their wonderful losses.
Also to say don't worry Sally if you haven't done too well, you won't be the only one, I'm in that club too!
Food Diary for Weds
Porridge
Egg & Turkey Slice Salad
Chicken & Spinach Curry with rice as a healthy extra
Snacks: Mini pack of low gi nuts/fruit mix, 1 apple, 1 cappucino
Walked for an hour today, legs ache like crazy, so should be ok, I will sleep well tonight.

Well I thought I must be losing the plot as went through the mag carefully trying to find the recipe, not in there at all. Then I remembered there was a little booklet with it, and of course that's where it is!
SPINACH, PEA & MINT FRITTATA
Quick and easy to make, this frittata can even me made a day in advance and refrigerated overnight. Bring back to room temperature or heat through before serving with a crisp green salad.
Serves 4 Green 1½ syns Red 2½ syns
Fry light
4 spring onions, thinly sliced
200g / 7oz spinach leaves, washed and drained
1 red pepper, cored, deseeded and finely chopped
100g / 3½ oz frozen or fresh shelled peas
3 tbsp chopped mint leaves
6 large eggs, beaten
30g / 1oz Parmesan or Pecorino cheese, finely grated
salt & freshly ground black pepper
1.Spray a large 25cm / 10" non-stick frying pan (suitable for use under a grill) with Fry Light and place over a moderate heat. Add the spring onions to the pan and cook gently for 2-3 minutes.
2.Meanwhile, finely chop the spinach. Add to thepan with the red pepper and peas, and cook for 3-4 minutes until the spinach has wilted.
3.Stir the chopped mint into the beaten eggs, then pour into the frying pan. Fry gently for 5-6 minutes or until the base is lightly browned and set.
Preheat the grill to medium hot. Sprinkle the cheese over the surgace of the frittata and season with salt and pepper. Place the pan under the grill for 4-5 minutes or until the tip is set and golden. Leave to stand for 5 minutes before turning out of pan. Serve cut into thick wedges, with a crisp green salad.
Just whipping off to the gym, and have appointment with consultant this afternoon so good luck to anyone being weighed - Liesa??
can i add to your wonderful post Fiona
if anyone is not keen on spinach or the likes you can swap for lean meat on a red day or you can stick to veggies for free on both days
i like sliced peppers, red onion and bacon in mine, courgettes are nice too and thinly sliced part cooked sweet potatoes or cooked pasta can be added to make a super filling dish thats free on a green day

Wholemeal toast x 2 = 2 HC b, with banana
Fresh pineapple
Turkey salad
Skinny latte x 2 = 2 HC a
Chilli style mince (no kidney beans) with salad not rice
Lots of water [angel]
Got lots of fruit and nat low fat yog for later[clap]

Good morning all!
Sheena...today is a new day[grouphug]...put yesterday behind you!. I had an awful day on Monday but have now recovered:D
Mizzy....Are you smiling "brightly" at everyone today??????[msnwink]
Good luck to you all who have weigh in today..I may dare the scales tomorrow[msnscared]
Julie..Happy birthday to your youngest son, hope you all have a lovely day.
Just had some porridge this morning to feel full up as yesterday I felt hungry all morning[msnscared]....even water didn't fill me up!
Oh Mizzy I understand completely, I would have eaten a ton of chocolate yesterday if there had been any in the house. No contact from YD yesterday at all. Parental hearts are hardening the longer this goes on, not only will generous allowance be stopped, so will phone (latest slimmest flippy one of course with unlimited calls & texting) if she is not back pdq. As it was had fresh pasta and bought marscapone & mushroom sauce and about 3 glasses of wine.[msnoo]
Back on track today, stomach churning again today with worry so no breakfast, am going to make the aforementioned frittata - but make it in the oven as my saucepan handle will not fit in our mini oven that grills. That is if it stops raining long enough for me to dash to the bottom of the garden for the spinach. What is it about this country? The minute draconian drought orders are imposed it absolutely persists with rain. Dogs are still waiting, now how much do I want to get totally soaked - AGAIN!! Making lasagne or canneloni for supper (by request of ED) with creme fraiche, but will have to syn it!
Good luck everyone with the weigh in today, have a good one peeps.

Good morning all, late check in this morning as we have had a meeting with our financial adviser, not good news but we will get over that.
I am looking forward to weigh-in tonight, just hoping I have done reasonably well. See you there Sally, hope you are feeling better today.
All kinds of other hassle today so have not even thought about food, probably a green day as I have quorn sausages to eat. I feel like going to eat a big bar of chocolate, must resist though. Perhaps a walk with the dog would work instead, but it keeps raining and do not fancy getting wet.
Catch up with all later but have good days all.
Jill
thanks Sharon, the teeth are a little whiter but it's a two week program
i haven't got a lot to smile about today i seem to have tons to do, isn't it always the same
woman books day out with overnight stay, woman sorts out all kiddies things that will have to come with us, woman washes, irons and sorts out all thats needed for overnight stay, woman fixes food and thinks job is finally organised, man comes in and digs one pr of jeans from bottom of laundry bin and says he wants to take these[msnmad] i have also been told that his mother has got him running about left right and centre tommorow so i need to get as much as poss done today
i know that i will enjoy this weekend if i dont strangle dh or the mil first[msneek]
Julieanne it's good to have you back[msnsmile] when's the next trip???????
Fiona this is for you [grouphug] hope it all gets sorted out between you and your daughter soon[grouphug]

I have been weighed today and lost anothe 2lb. Really pleased at how this is going[msnsmile2]
Paula well done[clap][clap][clap].
What is it with us all and the siren call of chocolate? Managed not to get wet despite leaving while it was pouring - little microclimate at the national trust land was wet on the ground but no rain. In fact warmed up so much had to tie my anorak round my waist as too warm to keep on!
My husband's aunt died this morning, she was 95 in February so had had a good innings, but has been poorly last few years. His mother is distraught as they were very close, both been widowed for 20+ years. Managed to speak to YD on the phone to tell her and she has agreed to come to the funeral, didn't go any further as tons of noise in background and obviously talking to me in front of her friends messing around.
Mizzy are you doing the teeth whitening yourself or through your dentist? I rather fancy that, once I have the new boobs!! Date now agreed with the surgeon, 22 September (between his hols and ours and YDs 18th birthday), so have more time to lose weight, although as he said - not too much - as if I said!!
Congratulations Paula [clap][clap][clap] i'm really pleased for you[msnsmile2]
Fiona, sorry about your loss but at least you gt to speak to yd [grouphug]
i am home whitening them Fiona, my dentist said it's fine so i'm giving it a go, will dm you website where i bought the product from and keep you informed on how it's going

Well done Liz, Paula and Sally.
Sorry to hear your loss Fiona, even when expected it is never easy. Glad to hear YD is talking to you.
Well my news is I lost 5 1/2 lbs. I was gobsmaked, it really cheared me up as I had a really s****y day so came home very pleased. Hubby said well done, same next week.
Had 2 quorn cold sausages, baked potato and baked beans followed by strawberries for supper. Saving my sins for tomorrow as going out for a friends 65th birthday and I know champagne is on the menu and I just love the stuff.

Well done to all the losers - Jill that is fantastic, isn't that going to give you such a boost for the next week too. Well done Sally - and Liz you are doing great, fingers crossed for next week to get under the next stone - always a big motivation.
Had a call from my trainer at the gym today (wondering why I hadn't been lately) gave the excuse of being on hols etc. and promised to go in at the weekend. Have agreed to do a review to see if we can make the programme more interesting.
Have a good day tomorrow everyone let's keep the good work up.
Hi Girls
Just popping in quickly as going on my girls weekend away in about, oooh 15 mins! Getting picked up at lunchtime. Had a shock this morning as had planned leaving Son with a friend, but he woke up covered in spots. I phoned friends and blew off the weekend away, but Husband rang me back and said he was coming home, for me still to go. Took son to doctor and its a viral infection, nothing serious, and so after a lot of persuasion by everyone, I am going away, as planned. Feel terribly guilty, but hubby is wonderful with the kids, and they will be ok. Plus Son wants me to go as he knows he gets spoilt rotten, with take aways and movies etc. So hopefully I can walk heaps, eat little, laugh lots and talk my jaw off. How many Syns does worrying about your kids use up?
BYEEEEEE[msnsad]
Morning ladies, well my new workout programme has resulted in some very stiff thigh and buttock muscles - the gluteus maximus and the gluteus medius, (aka 'the glutes')[msnembarrased] But its a good feeling because I know its doing me good[msnwink]
Theresa have a good weekend away with the girls[clap][clap] Hope your son gets better[clap]
Fiona its a good move and it does make it more interesting - be good for your stress levels at the moment too[msnwink]

I managed to put on half a stone in Florida [msnoo] [msneek] [msnscared] [msnsad]
Well I did eat a lot [msnembarrased] but I did go for a jog/walk every morning round the nature trail and swam most days so it could have been even worse [msnscared]
As from Monday I will get back into healthy eating big time and also go back to the gym, with holidays and working over I haven't been for about 5 weeks now [msnoo][msnoo]
Glad you had a good JulieA - but oh how we have to pay for it don't we![8D] I am sure once you are back on track will fall off with not too much trouble.
banana & porridge for brekkies, tuna fish salad for lunch, just trying to work out what to have for supper.
Amazingly enough it stopped raining when I took the dogs out, so just very muddy hounds (3 of them as I was my neighbour's dog while she is at uni) and frizzed up hair! (That's me not them as they have all had drastic hair cuts for the summer - don't know why I bother, the minute I do that the weather always changes, so you can all blame me!)

Good afternoon all, only just found time to log on and catch up. Shopping this morning which seemed to take forever, especially buying a birthday present for our friends 65th. Took the dog out and battled against the wind, it is blowing very hard down here but fortunately dry, she only had a short one this morning so will take her out again this afternoon.
Cereal and rhubard for breakfast, again, cold meat and salad and apple for lunch, dinner will be quorn chilli, the remainder of and jacket potato and fruit. Then going out and having champagne, saving my sins.
Those of you away for the weekend have a good time and hope it does not rain too much on you all, it is a foul forecast for the weekend.
Jill
Julieanne, you will soon get the off once you are back on track - hope it was worth it[msnwink] and you enjoyed every mouthful[clap]

I feel quite embarrassed saying I managed 30 min swim this evening, not at a cracking lick either, and this was after I walked the hounds.
Wonder how Mizzy is getting on with her weekend away - fancy all that chocolate - no sorry, that is not what we are meant to say is it!!
Fiona, I only did 1/3 of it yesterday and my legs are soooooo stiff [msncry] I think its going to be tough[msnscared]

Good morning everyone,
I've had a hectic week so not had much chance to check in. Took me a while now I have though. You old chatterboxes!
Fantastic news for all you losers, you've all had a fab week[clap][clap][clap]. Lets hope I can post some good news when I weigh in tomorrow, not been as good though, its too easy for me to think oh well, I haven't had much today so I'll just have ..... fatal, few too many just haves I expect and still not enough water! Oh well todays another day.
I'm not surprised you're legs are stiff julie I think I would be totally imobile!
Welcome back Julie Anne, its a horrible feeling coming back but at least you can start planning your next one, and only half a stone, well done I say! Just a quick question, I was reading on another thread that the sky coaster was closed for good, is this true?
Well I'm going to try to get DH to start decorating the hall this weekend, its been waiting to be done since we did a loft conversion 5 years ago! Its such a daunting job it keeps getting put off but I'm fed up with waiting now, I think I've been patient for long enough! We'll see.
Have a good day everyone,

God morning all, well we went to our friend's 65th birthday last night and I had one champagne cocktail, 2 white wine spritzers and a piece of chocolate cake, I am not even going to look up how many sins that all is, will just have to restrain myself for the next few days.
Dog agility class this morning as long as it stays dry and then will have a long walk with her this afternoon, haven't thought about food yet. Off to think about breakfast.

Hiya folks! I would like to join in on this slimming club if you will have me!! I've been a (quiet) member on this site for awhile now...
Got back from Florida one month ago - I did really well I thought, just put on 1.5lbs! However, have put on more than that since we got home! It can't carry on... We are going back to Florida with the family in 5 months - and this excess needs to be gone by then! Do you all belong to various slimming clubs and report in here? or do your own thing with the support of each other, or a combo of both!
Look forward to hearing from you[msnsmile2]
Morning all, just off out with the dogs, got to go to work today as well so taking chicken and salad with me, have a good day one and all.
Julie, you will have to explain what some of those exercises mean! Am going to the gym tonight and will book in a review then, no pain no gain I suppose.[sporty]
Morning all. It's back to the grindstone for me this week coming. I have had my monthly and I find it hard to resist carbs for some reason plus I have had to have one of those essential womanly three yearly checks you get when you hit a certain age plus I had to tavel a 300+ mile round trip to a wedding downin Devon so somehow have fallen off the rails slightly .
Well done to all those who have lost this week and a very big welcome to Les -you will find the support and advice on here invaluable .!
Just eating my porridge will then get on the treadmill .My task then is to interest Martin in a new game called "Find the bedroom carpet" His room is driving me nuts!
Have a good one everybody .

Hi Les and welcome!!!
Most of us are members of Slimming World now and report in here as well, we all started doing different plans but SW seemed to be the most successful so gradually over the past year the rest of us have joined a SW class and I have to say its been brilliant[clap][clap][clap]
I have lost 1 stone 1 lbs at SW plus 4 lbs from the plan on my own before joining[clap] I would like to lose another stone[msnsmile]
It depends on how much you have to lose I suppose and you don't say if you have a few pounds or stones to lose???[msnwink]
Fiona, Paula, Mizzy, Sally, Liz and Jill are also SW memebrs, Twiglet does SW but she is down in OZ, Julieanne, Julie B, Janny, Sharon G and Aiminghigh do SW type plan but don't go to a class - I think I have got that right?[msnoo]
Good luck with it and we will support you all we can[clap][sporty]

Morning all-quick check in before work!
If I'm honest, I did well up to Wednesday and then not so well Thurs and Fri[msnembarrased]
I am still exercising, although not today as yet!
Julie, I love the sound of your workout. Hope it inspires you.
I've come to the conclusion that I do find most exercise boring but stick at it because I have to. I enjoy "bursts" of different things, like I enjoy riding my bike, but it's not always practical to do it regularly.
Hope Mizzy is enjoying her weekend[msneek]
Have a good one everyone else.

PS Welcome, Les, and Julie is right, I am doing a "Slimming World" type of plan but on my own as I don't have much to lose
thornton
20-05-2006, 14:25
Welcome Lesley, it really depends upon how much weight you want to loose. If you only have a few pounds to loose, do it without joining a club but with support from here. I suggest you have a look at the Slimming World web site and you will get an idea of what we are doing. I have joined SW as I want to loose 2 stones and think if I do it with their support I will be more successful.
If you do decide to join a SW group they are a very friendly lot and certainly inspires you if you have a lot to loose.
Keep in touch.
Have decided to do a red day today after two green days.
Cooked breakfast, bacon, quorn sausage, tomato, mushrooms and egg. Lunch will be cold meat and salad and dinner roast turkey joint, veg and gravy. Plus lots of fruit during the day and a muller light yoghurt.
Jill
Welcome Les, we must have been typing at the same time this morning, it doesn't matter what you are following we are all here to help each other. If we didn't all have the same problem we wouldn't be doing this, and the help of each other can keep you from falling off or getting you back on when you have a wobble. Which we all do from time to time!
E. Cosgrove
20-05-2006, 19:24
Hello Lesley, welcome!!!
I have followed the SW plan off and on for years, when I'm on it I lose weight and when I'm not I gain [msnoo]
I am following the plan almost to the letter at the moment but not actually going to class. The girls on here are fantastic motivators and I have lost a stone since the end of March, another 3 1/3 to go but I will do it!!!!
The other great motivator of course is holidays to Florida......6 days to my hols and 13 days to Florida which is the second part of my vacation
[msncool][msnsmile2]
Hi Lesley, welcome to the slimming club[msnsmile2]. I agree with the others, if you only have a few pounds to lose do it on your own with the help and encouragement on here. If you need to lose more than a few pounds then I would say join a club.
Having a good day so far.

Hello and welcome Les.....you're very welcome to join in.
Julie is right (Mach 2):D:D I follow the SW plan ( most days)

Mizzy...sorry missed wishing you a good weekend but I'm sure you will be!!![msnwink]

Thanks for a great welcome and for all your helpful comments! I have 2.5 stone to lose, wish it was less but it isn't. I am doing w.watchers at present but not going so well... I might re-visit s.w. I am familiar with their programme - (done it years ago! but it all crept back on...)
Since I went back to work full time the weight has gone up and up - the hardest thing is fitting in a gym session (I try to go on my way home from work - otherwise I won't go out again!) - but between working 9-5 and keeping up with the rentals/emails and all that goes with it.... well I am sure you all know where I am coming from....
(now where did I put those s.w. books?[msnwink]

Well another day and back on the plan. Green today although I always srtuggle at lunch time on green days if I am out at work[msnsad]

Good morning everyone and welcome Les.
I'm quite new to this thread too, they're a friendly lot, and such good support. I had 5 stone to lose, and have now lost 20lbs, I'm not going to any club but am thinking about it cos think sometimes I don't eat enough so I'm not maximising on my possibilities. I do however get up early as julie does, at 6 though not 5.30 and do 30 mins on my treadmill too, even if you don't have one, you could still do something in the morning, its over then you can get on with your day.
Well, ladies, I'm pleased to be able to report that I can join you losers 2LB OFF FOR ME TOO!!![clap][clap][clap]
Aren't we doing well!!!
Got to go and walk the dogs now, will check in later.
Have a good day everyone!!
Julie B
Well done JulieB, 2lb is great[clap][clap][clap]
Well done Julie B[clap][clap][clap][clap][clap] 2lbs is a nice amount to lose each week[clap][clap][clap]
Liz, hope you manage to keep on track rom now until Thursday[clap] Why not stick to red days when working, then its easier at lunch time to take a chicken or tuna salad maybe?? Or do a Mix2Max day have a red lunch and green tea??
I am going for a Red (original) day today so off to grill the bacon etc[clap][clap]
Have a great Sunday everyone, and remember eat but don't cheat[clap][sporty]
good morning everyone
before i tell you about my weekend can i say hello and welcome to Les and Well done to Julie B on your 2lb loss[clap]
here's how my weekend went(so far)sorry it's a very long post!
Thursday - preparation and planning - well as usual i did it all, dh did contribute by digging out a pair of jeans from the laundry bag and said he wanted to take them[msnmad], que last min washing and drying for ONE pair of jeans, now i do have a justifiable right to be annoyed here there were levi 501's and he does have 4 pairs of the same jean
Friday - kids up nice and early 4.55am both very excitable or high as a kite as my mother would put it, now if i got asked what time are we going once i got asked about 70 times, one more time i really was ready to scream. 11am time to set off and it's a quick trip to my mums first as its her birthday, lovely mum had tesco finest chocolate cake waiting for the children and we all sang happy birthday whilst i attempted to keep kids clean and chocolate free or else it was gonna be a sticky journey
now here's where dh contributed to the weekends planning and prep, he went to fill the car with petrol and kicked the 4 quite new tyres just in case[msneek] it was a fairly uneventful journey with nice smooth traffic all the way, stopped off after 2hours for a late lunch which i had all packed and ready, nice and healthy chicken and bacon salad for me, and BLT's for dh and usual packed lunch boxes for the kids. It took another 1.5hours to get to Birmingham and another 40 minutes to find the hotel, note to self buy sat nav before next trip away[msnwink]
Checked in, dh checked out the plumbing[msneek] i think this is a mans thing!!!, children took 20 minutes to decide who's gonna sleep where and then all three bang on que asked whats for tea?
Brewers Fayre nearby so we went there and i was really good and choose a steak and salad, it came with chips but i only had a few and dh finished them off, then back to hotel and to settle children down for the night, aww there really cute when they're sleeping [angel]
Saturday "Cadburys World"
kids awake nice and early, again!!!! usual chaos that is getting up and dressed in the morning[msnscared] you know sometimes i'm positively convinced that i have 3 children [msnmad]
now the tricky part, breakfast was a help yourself buffet style, i had scrambled egg on toast followed by a vanilla muller yoghurt and some fruit[clap] not too bad i was saving myself for all that choccie!!!!!! dh as usual on these help yourself occasions piled his plate and was generally a oink oink [msnembarrased]
Breakfast over, back to room to clean up kids and then load up car and we're off to find chocolate heaven[msnsmile2]
after waiting to collect our tickets we were off on our journey, to start your journey they give you 3 bars of chocolate at the door (just in case you'd forgotten for one minute where your visiting)
there was lots to see and do and plenty of interaction for the children, the best part was the giant vat of melted chocolate, i stood here dreamily wondering if i could be arrested for stripping off and throwing myself in until dh nudged me along [msnembarrased][msnsad]
the children loved the processing and interactive part, they got to write their names in chocolate and to fill the moulds and to taste yet more chocolate and just in case you had forgotten what it tasted like they gave you another bar on the way out of the processing and packaging plant
so we came to the end of our tour and ouside the double doors it's straight into the worlds biggest cadbury's shop [msnsmile2]
well i must admit i could have done with some restraint in here, after all we had been given 16 bars of chocolate throughout our journey and the question was do we really need to buy more?
told dh that i'll just get a few presents and then spent £52 at the till[msnembarrased]
then it's off for the "essence show" and the history and archive bit, which the kids loved, going into the essence show and they fill a cup up with your choice of sweetie filling an

Well done Julie B, that's another 2lb towards your target.[clap][clap]
Had an early morning walk today as the weather forecast said it was going to rain all day as well as blow. It was a force 9 yesterday afternoon when I went out. It is now pouring so will probably not go out again today.
Red day I think for me, cold meat and salad for lunch and then steak and veg for dinner plus the usual assortment of fruit and a muller yoghurt or two.
Have a good sunday everyone.
Jill
Mizzy, it sounds like you had a fantastic weekend.
I have now told Peter that I really need to go to Cadbury World, I think it was the bit about the cup of sweet filling and 3 inchs of melted chocolate that did it for me[msntongue]
I think your husband and mine come out of the same mould, Peter's contribution to a weekend away is filling the car with petrol and then asks "do WE have everything ready"[msnoo].
I am off to have a look at the website now.

Mizzy, it sounds as if you had a fantastic weekend, it sounds like my idea of heaven, especially the cup of sweet filling, Sally perhaps you and I should save our sins and go up.
It must be a man thing about filling the car with fuel (diesel in our case) and then saying aren't you ready yet? Or have you put such and such in, when it nothing to do with you? However what would we do without them[?][msnwink]

Well done Julie B, 2lb's is great[clap][clap][clap]
Mizzy you sound like you had a wondeful time, no way could I have been as restrained as you...well done[clap][clap][clap]
Mizzy it all sounds wonderful, think I can feel trip coming on[msnwink][clap][clap][clap]
Mizzy sounds like a wonderful weekend away, and that sounds just like the usual male contribution to any time spent away!
Finally managed to speak to YD this am, offered to meet her for lunch or a coffee, but she was going to lunch at the twins house. As I had spent best part of an hour to their mother on Monday evening when she disappeared and then again Friday night am not best impressed. I had a phone and charger in my bag as she said she would phone me later. Well I did the shopping I had to do and then came back home. Found a message on her phone from one of her tutors, it appears she has been bunking off lessons in Biology, Chemistry & Maths, which explains long concerned call from her personal tutor Friday evening.
Bad news is there is nothing we can do. As she is 5 months off 18 police will not return a young person to parents if they do not wish to to go. Don't you just love it, quite happy to assume we will support them through uni, but do we get any help when there are problems?
Give you 2 guesses what I did today then? Ate of course. Fried up some left over potatoes and made a chip butty and just found some chocolate.
Still at least the downpour has finished - oh yes what was that about a drought - and hopefully will not get soaked when taking dogs for their second walk. DH is at the golf club for charity day, aka drunken p***-up so don't know when he will be rolling up.
Will be making a frittata while listening to the Johnnie Walker show so will put myself back on track!
Fiona, I am so sorry you are having to go through this [grouphug]- they are ungrateful little b*****s at times[msnmad]
Hope she sees sense soon and you can all get back to normal[grouphug]
Food diary for my red day..
Grilled bacon and toms, dry fried mushrooms and omelette
Skinny latte x 1 HC a
Porridge HC b
Banana
Roast turkey, mixed veg and peas HC b
Melon and low fat nat yog[angel] I am addicted to melon and yog at the moment[msnoo]
2 litres of water[angel]
I have to confess I had a taste of a cherry pie and custard, about a desert spoonful[msnembarrased]

Oh Fiona, I really don't know what to say. Don't they ever just break your heart?
On the end things will turn out OK, it may take 2 weeks , 2 months or 2 years, but she will eventually see the error of her ways and when she does she will need your love and support.
That is no consolation to you whilst you are having to endure her present behaviour but there is light at the end of the tunnel I promise[grouphug][grouphug][grouphug][grouphug]

Fiona, i truly hope it will all be sorted out soon [grouphug]i can't even begin to comprehend what it must be like for you but i hope you can be comforted by the friends and support that you have both at home and on here[grouphug]
i have had a good day ladies, i have eaten really well[angel] no choccie at all
food diary looks like this

baked potato with beans and cheese
banana and yoghurt
stuffed roasted peppers

fingers crossed for the weigh in tommorow [msnscared] i will be ok with a small gain, i think
[msneek]but obviously would prefer to stay the same
Mizzy
Well she finally rang this evening and it did not go well. But at the end of the day I must count my blessings, I have been lucky enough to have 2 healthy girls who we have tried our best to give a good life too. If one of them wants to throw it away there is not much I can do about it, but it is heartbreaking while it goes on.
DH appeared back from the golf at a surprisingly early time so we had some pasta with marscapone sauce and salad, and funnily enough found myself in need of 1½ glasses of wine! Need to get a grip of myself on the diet front or will be undoing all my good work.
Have a good day tomorrow everyone.
Morning ladies, well I got up even earlier to do my new workout programme[msneek][msnoo] and its tough, did it all except the treadmill which I will do this afternoon[sporty][sporty]
Fiona I really feel for you [grouphug] as I have a daughter the same age I can understand how you feel[grouphug] Like you say you can only do your best, she will realise eventually, like I said previously my ES now almost 22 is my best friend, so keep your chin up, its just a blip[grouphug]
Had two bags of fun size choccie buttons last late night they were left over from YS birthday[msneek][msnoo][msnmad]
The rain is still here and its really getting to me now, being a southern girl I need some sun but living in the north I don't seem to be very lucky[msnscared]
Right ladies its the start of another week so lets stay motivated[sporty][clap][sporty][clap] Lets keep the 2lbs off theme going if we can[msnwink]
Good luck Mizzy with weigh in tonight[clap]

Hi Ladies,
Mizzy so glad you had a good weekend.
Fiona I really feel for you, hope things patch themselves up soon.[grouphug]
Julie B well done on the 2lb loss.
I have done only OK on Friday and Saturday, not done too much planning[}:)]
I was back on track yesterday though, we went to Mum and Dad's for dinner and although apple pie and custard was offered for dessert I had a banana with yogurt poured over.[angel]
A huge bar of cadburys chocolate appeared too and although it was offered I refused.[angel] Just thinking of it now it was the bubble one ....... yummy.

Julie you are not missing anything weather wise here, it has been horrible for days now. Just back from walking the dog and it's raining and blowing a gale, never believe it was May.
Well done Paula for turning down the apple pie and custard and chocolate, not sure if I could be that strong when it's offered to me.

Fiona, so sorry that things do not seem to have sorted themselves out with YD, given time I am sure that they will. However in the meantime you definitely deserve a big[grouphug].
Try and keep focused as far as the diet is concerned as I am sure you will kick yourself if you don't.
Julie, you really are not missing any good weather down here at the moment, although it is not actually raining at the moment it is blowing a gale, force 7-8 and could rain at any moment. I am not looking forward to taking the dog out for a walk, but needs must. Everywhere is wet as it did not stop raining all day yesterday.
Will try and do some extra exercise inside today to make up for lack of over the weekend.
Not sure what kind of day I will have today, possibly a mix and match. Cereal and fruit for breakfast, quorn filled jacket potato for lunch and salmon and veg for supper. Plus the extra fruit and yoghurt at various times.
Have a good day all.
Jill
Thanks girls at least I don't think the rain is just in the North West now[msnwink]

I have just been out for a walk, got soaked and felt that I have walked ten miles as it blowing a force 9 down on the seafront. Most of the time I love living 400 yards from the beach but today is one of those days when I would happily be inland somewhere.
Jill
Hi to you all.
Mizzy sounds like a good trip you had .My weekend was a bit off the rails what with the wedding and other bits and pieces going on but today is the first day of getting back to it .Have done my workout and my ironing so now its thge rest of the house work to do .We found Martins carpet over the weekend by spending several hours in his bedroom so now it is the turn of the rest of the house -although that is nowhere near the same state .
Fiona you know where I am so any time just get in touch - as you know I went through similar times with my elder son at the same age.
Going to try a butternut squash risotto today for supper see what the family makes of it ,I might end up having it for 3 days !
Keep up the good work everybody.
sorry i haven't been able to get logged on at all this morning
Fiona stay positive [grouphug] glad the communication channels are back open
well ladies it's raining here too and like you Jill i live on the coast and with the north east wind it feels like winter
i got to go and see the doctor today to up my meds again!! so apart from a quick dash out at 3pm i'm staying indoors where it's nice and cosy til class time at 7pm
i've been naughty and had a sneaky peek on my mums scales, looks like it may be + 1lb tonight
but not to worry, i enjoyed every bit of it and then got straight back into the swing of things
Mizzy[msnsmile]
Afternoon all, doing rather better today as am at work and cannot access any food other than what I brought in!
Banana for breakfast & black tea, salmon & salad, half a melon and tangerine for lunch, copious glasses of water, planning on making canneloni with vegetables and small quantity of mince and skimmed milk and serving with salad.
Was also blowing a gale in the Thames Valley and spent the last half of the walk on the phone to YDs tutor, had to lift elder dog into back of car one handed and then sat in the car for another 15 mins while we tried to resolve things. Have given her YDs new phone no so now she can have all the staff harrassing her when she bunks off! YD told me she has to choose which lessons to go to (ie which days to go in) as she hasn't got enough money to pay for bus / train fare. But has enough for fags and bus fare to friends house rather than meet me[}:)]. Don't think this morning's AS went that well, she seemed to be in panic mode, sounds like the last 7 days to me!
I see there is nothing on the box tonight, shall I be motivated enough to get to the gym, we shall see - probably depends how wet I get when I take the hounds out again. On a positive note, can now easily get into skinny jeans YD snatched off me when I bought about 5/6 weeks ago and indeed even bagging round the backside, so still must be doing something right[msnsmile2].

Fiona, although I didn't leave home until I was getting married when I was growing up I thought my parents were my worst enemies. My Dad was a cabbie at the time so he seen what young girls my age were getting up to was he was pretty strict with me. If the disco finished at nine I would have to be home at nine (no snogging in bus shelters for me) All my friends could go clubbing and have sleep overs Dad always used to say "you've got a bed upstairs" at the time I really didn't like my Dad at all, it's not until we grow up a little you realise what he was doing was for my own sake.
Now I love my parents dearly, I work for them so I see them every day, they were in Florida last week and I spoke to them every day.
She will realise Fiona just how lucky she is, maybe in the not too distant future[grouphug]

Good morning all, sunshine here and no wind so off to walk the dog. It will be a change not to get wet or battle against the wind. Hubby has gone off to teach kids sailing today, yesterday was rained and blown off for them.
Good luck for the weigh-in Julie.
Considering all the temptation you had at the weekend Mizzy you have done well, that 1 1/2 lbs will come off easily now you are back on track.
Jill
Good luck this morning Julie.
Mizzy, 1.5lb will go soon, not bad for a weekend away.
Liz, when do you go to Florida[msncool]
Haven't read back, but wanted to tell you I stayed the same! I said i would be pleased if I could stay the same for the next two weeks as I am away, 3 birthdays, a big social dinner on Saturday coming and my Birthday on Monday too! Plus a farewell dinner on Sunday as somebody returning to Ireland. So its just food and wine left right and centre. I have upped my walking, and still sticking to a very strict SW menu in between. On the weekend I ordered steak & veggies, but did have wine and a chocolate biscuit! So I am no angel, but I haven't been a little devil either! Kind of in limbo at the moment!

Morning all, good luck with the weigh in Julie, I am not encouraged at the thought of mine tonight!
Lovely and warm walking the hounds this morning, if a little damp underfoot. I had been somewhat optimistic and although in jeans and three quearter length top put trainers on instead of wellies, so slipped all over the place unless I kept off the path and walked in the grass!
Banana for breakfast and tea, broadbeans & salad with cottage cheese, melon & apple for lunch, tomato pasta for supper.
Finished my white wine last night so nothing but water tonight[msnwink]. Just trying tow ork out if I can fit infeeding & walking the hounds, starting supper and a quick swim before slimming world starts at 7.00pm. Somehow I think not!
Well done Julie, you are doing so well and staying very focused.[clap] Must have been typing at the same time!

Oh Fiona...Good luck for tonight[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]
Sharon i know this will probably sound strange but have you tried eating more?[msneek]
how about adding some extra free veg onto your plate and some bigger portions of red or green free foods, also some extra fruit and the odd yoghurt thrown in would be good too
you could give it a week and see how it goes, i'm sure plenty of people on here will say they eat more now that they do SW, but it's more of the right stuff
good luck!!!
Mizzy
ps i'm off to bl**dy awful family members birthday tea, and as my meds are all to pot i'm using this as an excuse to skip the food [msnwink]

Good luck Fiona
I am having a red day today weetabix for breakfast and ham salad for dinner
Cottage pie with only a little mash and veg for tea.
Now....my legs....would you believe I still feel like I've run a marathon so no treadmill for a week or so yet. The bruising is going down a bit but they still look pretty bad.
Thanks for asking[msnsmile2]

I am taking Eve shopping for her school uniform tomorrow[msncry][msncry][msncry][msncry] my baby is starting school in September, if I leave it until the holidays the uniform departments are too busy so this will be an exciting day.........for her.
I told her we would have dinner in town and she said she wants a pizza, which is surprising as she only eats the topping.
Well all I am going to say is I did go in my jeans and jumper straight from walking the dog - as opposed to a cotton skirt and top last week - yes you know what is coming don't you? + 3lbs! I do think most of that is the clothes, but am going to be focused as from now.
On another note - YD has suggested a meet up, and have arranged to meet tomorrow afternoon, so we shall see.
Have a good day tomorrow peeps.

Morning all, sorry I didn't check in last night, I was at a musical evening at YS school, he played a guitar piece and was very good bless him[msnsmile]
Sorry Mizzy I can't stand the normal BB[msneek] its like a ****o freak show, [msneek] but I love the Celebrity BB's though[msnwink]
Fiona sorry about weigh in but some of that must be clothing [msnwink] Hope things go well with YD.[grouphug]
Paula, your injury is taking its time to heal, just goes to show how bad it was[msnscared] Hope you enjoy shopping for uniform, how old is Eve? My (baby) YD started last Sept in the Nursery or Ducklings as its called but she goes into Reception this coming Sept so they must be the same age?
Sharon, I think Mizzy maybe right, your food diary looks like my 'old' diaries, where I always struggled, I eat far more now and I am losing the lbs[msnwink] If you don't fuel the fire it won't burn[msnwink][msnwink]
Sally its just wonderul when somebody notices your weight loss, bet you felt fabulous[clap]
Carole keep at it girl[clap][clap]
Julieanne - don't work so hard![msnwink]
Julie B how are you doing, are you doing OK, post some food diaries some times so we can help?

The weather here is awful too Julie, I've not since so much rain for ages[msncry]
Eve is around the same age as your little girl Julie, she was four in February, I wish I could keep the clock at this time forever.
Fiona don't worry about the gain, hope all goes well this afternoon.[grouphug]
Good Morning
Fiona don't despair i know for a fact that jeans weigh at least two pounds, i weighed mine and when i first started weighing at class a girl jumped on the scales in her jeans saw her weight, screamed and ripped of her jeans and hey presto 2.5lbs less[msneek][msnembarrased]
keep going Carole it'll all be worth it in the end [msnwink]
Paula enjoy every minute of today, there is some lovely stylish uniform in the shops i'm sure your little Eve will love it[msnsmile] when my daughter first started at a special school the headteacher was a lovely man and he fought to bring in uniform, he gave the children the choice of colour so all the school sweatshirts, cardigans and polo shirts came in a dazzling array of colours, my daughter had summer dresses in every colour and she along with the other children looked like a colourful rainbow in the playground[msnsmile]the head and the teachers wore the school tops too which i always though screamed out how proud they where to work there[clap]
have a good day everyone, summer[msneek] is just around the corner!!!
Mizzy [angel]
Fiona, you have had a bad week with one thing and another, also the jeans and jumper will weigh a fair bit so I don't think you have gained all that. Hope you meet with YD goes well for you.
Sharon, I think Mizzy is right about you not eating enough. I seem to eat so much, more than I did before and the weight is coming off.
Where do they get these people for BB, none of them can put a sentence together without loads of f's in it. Have to agree with Julie it's a ****o freak show.
Off to work in a mo and have my healthy lunch already to take with me.

Morning all!
Mizzy, Julie, I think you're right about not eating enough!
So today I'm changing and copying some of your days (hope you don't mind?)
Porridge for breakfast...omelette planned for lunch. Julie, do you just make a plain omelette or throw some other ingredients in?
Paula, enjoy your day with your little girl. Harry started school in January and is one of the youngest (being an August baby) of the reception class. He looks so grown up in his uniform which is a bottle green colour ( sweatshirts and jackets for the boys and green dresses for the little girls!) It's only May and I've had to buy 3 more pairs of trousers because the little monkey had "worn" them out!![msneek][msnsmile2]
Fiona...Clothes can be very heavy you know!![msnwink][grouphug]
Have a good one everyone

There is no way I would do this even for a 5lb loss.
Eve's uniform is a navy slip, navy cardi, white blouse, maroon and gold tie and maroon blazer. She will look so lovely
Sharon you can pop pretty much anything into your omelette
i quite like peppers and red onion and then sometimes i have a breakfast omelette with bacon, mushrooms and chopped up sausage, really filling with a big mixed salad on the side[msntongue]
Paula i've had quite a few women strip off skirts and jeans before getting on the scales the best was a lady who had been to watch her son play rugby, she looked about a size 18-20 until she took off all her layers and there she was probably a perfect size 12
but i'm like you Paula, what with my wobbly bum and cellulite i wouldn't strip off either[msnembarrased]
i'm having another green day today and i'm thinking pasta? will have to go and dig out recipes and see which one tempts me the most

Good morning all, late in checking in today as we got up early to go to the car boot on Hayling before DH went off sailing and I went to badminton and then a walk with the dog. It is now pouring with rain and the force 8 winds are back.
Fiona, I always make sure I wear light clothes when I go to be weighed so I am sure most, if not all, of the gain will be clothes so go in light clothes next week and you will have lost double. Hope the meeting with YD goes well this afternoon.
I cannot stand BB either, I think the people who volunteer are morons and further more I think the people involved in the programmed must be sick.
Meals today, cereal and fruit for breakfast, egg salad for lunch, and quorn and veg for supper with lots of fruit at different time and yoghurt. Not forgetting the water.
Can't remember if anyone has a weigh-in today but if they have good luck.
Jill

[msnsmile2][msnsmile][msnwink]
aaah dont they look cute Julie
and very happy considering there dressed for school[msnwink]
Mizzy[msnsmile2]
Oh they look sooooo cute when they are little don't they, have some lovely ones of my girls at that stage.
Well guess who has **** for brains! Totally forgot we are going to the theatre today to see Guys and Dolls and have to meet the coach at 5.15 so have postponed meet with YD until tomorrow. Am not inclined to take more clothes etc for her as will only drag it out - wht do you all think? Or I could take them and hide them in the boot and she won't know they are there and I see how she is with me! Just spoken to her and she has overslept and missed Physics this am so she has to go in tomorrow for a lesson with a different group.
Have to ake picnic food with us tonight and coincidentally have to take picnic food things for our tasting session next week! Just made a frittata with onions, cheese, tomatoes & peppers, and cooking low-fat sausages to make a sausage and tomato kebab, will also chop celery into chunks, ditto carrots, but will need to get some rolls to make something to bulk it out with!
Have a busy afternoon and evening so probably not back on until v late. Have a good one gals and good luck witht he weigh ins. I am not too worried about the weight gain, I think it is mainly the togs I was wearing, but will not rely on that and am now allowing YD to make a mess of absolutely everything!

Fiona I put your question to my own 17 y/o daughter and she thinks you should not give her any clothes, [msnscared] she also thinks you should tell her if she wants more clothes then she comes and gets them herself! Her reasoning is that she needs to step over your doorstep again to come to her senses. Her veiw is for you as her Mum to play it cool without being totally dis interested, so she knows you care but that you are not going to jump through hoops for her after all the pain she has caused you, if this is indeed the case.
As she says its just her view as a 17 y/o and she does not know all the facts, but she wishes you luck[msnsmile] and [grouphug]'s.

I would tell your daughter to come and get her clothes herself Fiona, you muct be out of your mind.
Julie your little ones look lovely.
I had a lovely day in town with Eve, just waiting now for the blazer which I had to order, she looked soooooo cute, much too young to be going to big school[msncry] only shoes to get now but I'll wait to get those nearer the time. I hate shopping for shoes, I have been brought up to believe in Clarks and Startrite, the only problem is I can never get what I want it's now summer and the shelves are full of black school shoes, when I come to get school shoes the shelves will be full of patent leather (not allowed for school) when I want patent ones for Christmas the shelves will be full of summer sandals, it really doen't make sense to me. I did used to travel to the Startrite shop in Wilmslow but got to the point I couldn't get want I wanted there either.
We ate in BHS and I had jacket potato ham and salad

Julie and Paula-what lovely pictures!!!
My son is so relieved to be out of his "uniform" now. In the 6th Form he had to wear a formal dark grey suit and hated it. He is looking forward to his new University "uniform" of jeans and t-shirts[msnscared] He has "celebrated" leaving school by having his hair streaked(against my better judgement of course)..Teenagers!!!

Evening all, or is it morning by now! Fabulous, wonderful show I can't recommend it enough. Neil Morrisey is Nathan Detroit, Adam Cooper is Skye Masterson, both brilliant - but the leading ladies have the most amazing voices. Showstopper was Don't Rock the Boat, had forgotten it came from Guys n Dolls.
Well picnic grub was not too bad, took a sandwich - smoked salmon, cooked low-fat sausages, bit of frittata, chopped up celery, some radishes, baby carrots & baby toms, plus grapes and 2 bottles of water. All the others had lager or tins of G&T!!
Did have 2 G&Slimlines after a hectic afternoon (dogs didn't get second walk, did not get time).
Whie we were up in London ED had forgotten her keys, so had to zip round to my mother's to get her set, honestly do both my daughters have whatsits for brains or what!! Hopefully that will teach her not to do it again.
YD - am meeting her to discuss things, have decided that I will have forgotten the bag with her things in as will be going straight from work if she asks before we have time to get chatting, then see how it goes before I tell her to get real! Cancelled the standing order for her allowance today with immediate effect.
Have a good day tomorrow everyone.

Well girls I have been a bit of a stranger this week but I just don't know where the time has gone!!! Have been so busy trying to leave things in order for whilst we are away, both at home and at work.
Work is a bummer at the moment, the trust can't balance it's books and after lots of talk of redundancies they are definitely happening [msnsad] Not quite sure how it will affect me, I think I am too expensive to make redundant as I have been there 20 years, but they could make my job redundant and redeploy me to work in Delivery Suite or something[msncry][msncry][msncry]
No way, I'd rather go and work in Asda!!
We will definitely have job cuts in our area and I think it will just mean more work for those left and the standard of care we can offer will be reduced[msncry][msncry][msncry] Everyone is very depressed about it all as you can imagine, and I probably won't know what is happening until I return from hols[msnsad]
Needless to say I don't imagine the scales will be my friend today[msnsad]
Well done Julie, the weight is fair dropping off you now, and Fiona, I know what you mean about clothes, there is many a time I have weighed a pile of clothes just before class.[msneek]
On the upside I went of my pre holiday defuzz last night and the therapist asked me if I had lost weight[msnsmile2]
This time tomorrow I will be on my way to Heathrow. Flying to Washington and will take about 9 days to travel through VA, SC and GA to Florida. Not sure how internet connection will be whilst travelling but will be online when we arrive at our Florida home so will catch up with what everyone has been up to.
Be good everyone.
PS. Fiona, no way should you take the clothes. If she feels she is mature enough to make all the decisions she has been making then she is mature enough to accept the fact that she has to come and collect her own clothes[msnwink] Good Luck!!!
Good luck today Paula, and Liz so sorry to hear you may be facing horrible news at work. It really is unbelievable that only 6/12 months after supposedly putting more money in the trusts are left in this situation. Our local hospital (which is now mainly OAP care and Radiology & Out-patient appointments) is having to make up the deficit in other Trusts and as they balanced their books last year have to find $5M. So the respite care that they offer for the carers who look after elderly patients usually with dementia etc is under threat.
Hope you have a lovely trip Liz and we want to hear all about it - that trip is on our list of things to do when we travel on our own[clap].
Am just off to walk the hounds and then into work for the day as having a day off tomorrow for Chris's aunt's funeral. So will be battling the Bank Holiday traffic tomorrow evening:(.

I don't know if you all remember that my ES was the victim of robbery of his mobile phone some months ago now!! Well we've been to court twice before today and it has got adjourned!! They've promised that it will go ahead today!!
So lets see what the British justice system does for us!!!
They've pleaded <span style="color:black">NOT GUILTY </span id="black"> upto now!!...but we have 3 witnessess!! The police also found my sons phone on one of them later the same night!....so lets see.......fingers crossed!
Have a good one everyone

Best of luck Fiona with your meeting, agree with all the others about not taking her clothes and also for cancelling her allowance.

Good Luck for the weigh ins Paula and Liz, fingers crossed it'll be great news

another green day
toast and jam for brekkie
figs
pasta with peppers, red onions and quorn pieces in a tomato and basil sauce
prawn egg fried rice for tea (syn free using healthy B)
yoghurt
i have left overs of yesterdays pasta so will probably have this for lunch (might make a pasta quiche with it to bulk it out)

Well done Liz, good luck Paula for your weigh-in.
See you at the meeting then Sally, fingers crossed for us both.
Definitely Fiona do not your daugther's clothes. If she thinks she is old enough to behave the way she is doing she has to take the consequences. Good for for cancelling her allowance.
Sorry to hear your news Liz, our hospital trust (Portsmouth) who balanced their books last year, goodness knows how, it must be by not giving treatment, have now got to bail out Southampton and others who have made a deficit. Crazy system but then all government departments have crazy systems whereby they cannot carry money forward to the next year. Have a good holiday and forget all.
Mizzy, you really are having a rotten time of it but hope the sun shines on you soon.
The photos of the young ones are lovely Julie and Paula.
Hope the b******s get what they deserve Sharon.
Had my hair cut and blown dry this morning then went for a walk, started in the sunshine, out for five minutes then guess what it rained and I had no hood or umbrella so dashed under the one tree on the seafront determined not to have ruined hairdo and prayed that there would be no lightening.
Red day for today, salad and cold meat for lunch and fish and veg for supper.
Jill
Well done Liz[clap] - changing a kilo is better than nothing. I am sure you will find it hard on the drive down from NY but once you are in Orlando it will be easier to focus on salads[msncool]!
Mizzy I do hope they get your meds sorted soon, but there is a silver lining if it means you sleep through the picking time (so speaking from experience here) but of course puts pressure on your DH.
Jill - been there and got the t-shirt, everytime I go out with either newly washed or newly done it chucks it down at the moment.
Have my swimming things in the car as might be somewhat stressed after meeting with YD! Although the hounds will need walking so perhaps not, we shall see. Might swap cars with DH if he is amenable but as we have to be out of the office tomorrow for his aunt's funeral I expect him to be very late home.
Have got my new SW mag with me to read in the car and am going to plan my menus for the next week as this may have been where I have been going wrong for the past week, apart from the obvious. The fave curries which are free on green or red days look good, so think I will have a go at the dhal and see how it turns out, may have to make a meat curry for DH and ED as not sure this would be enough for DH on it's own, and spinach is not YDs favourite either, although I have now just about got her eating mushrooms.

Hi Girls,
Do you mind if I join you? Flights are booked, 2 months, 8 days, 9 hours etc and I have to do some seriously healthy eating. Bought a lovely new skirt yesterday only to find that it is too tight! I am determined it is not going back to the shop so I am going to try really hard. I am sick and tired of having wardrobes full of clothes that are too small and I am determined to stick with it this time[msnembarrased] (How many times have I said that before?)
I have a lot to lose and I am not expecting miracles but if I could just lose a stone before my hols I will be very happy. Must get hubby to get the exercise equipment out from underneath the junk in the garage this weekend and then I will have no excuse not to get fit (or fitter anyway)
I have never done the SW eating plan before, (it must be the only diet I have not tried) is it easier to stick to than counting calories and is it possible to do without joining the club?

Hi and welcome Karen,
I have tried almost every diet in the world[msnwink] I was doing ww online but after reading all the success the girls on here are having with SW I decided to join a group. The eating plan is so easy, no measuring, points or calories to count. I think I joined four weeks ago and I've lost 7 1/2 lb. If there is a class near you Karen I would join, loads of hints and tips but what I like most is there are a cuple of target members in my group and it's great to know it can be done. I've got 1 month and 17 days until my next trip to Florida and hope to loose another before then.
Good luck
Hey girls, sorry I have not been on, I have been in my home office all day getting up to date as the little ones break up today for half term[msnwink]
Well done to Liz and Paula[clap][clap][clap][clap][clap] So pleased for you both!!!!
Karen welcome! I can only echo what Paula says, I have tried all the diet plans and have battled to get 2 and a half stones off for the last 10 years, but since I joined SW at the end of Feb I have lost 1 stone 3lbs plus 4lbs I managed on my own just from the mag before joining, so 1 stone 7lbs in total[clap][clap] There a good 8-9 target members at my class too who have all kept the weight off for years.
I love the fact that you do actually eat real healthy foods and plenty of it, and you are never hungry[msnwink]
Fiona hope things have gone well today with YD[grouphug]
Mizzy hope you are feeling OK too[grouphug]
Sharon hope they threw the book at the b*******s[msnmad] My ES was held at knife point for his phone and iPod about 18 months ago then the b*******s marched him to his flat and stole all his valuables and left him traumatized in an alley[msnmad][msnmad] He still has nightmares and they never managed to convict them[msnmad] On the plus side (for us not the other person) they did the same thing to 2 other people that day and one ended up in hospital with severe knife wounds, my ES only got away unhurt because he played the game and let them take everything without putting up a fight, something we have told all of ours to do in that situation, but if I ever got hold of them I would not be responsible for my actions[msnmad][msnmad]
Julieanne good to hear from you! I have 13lbs to get to my goal weight[clap][sporty]
Sally and Jill good luck tonight with weigh ins[msnwink]
Catch you all later I am off to make my tea, Oh and its been sunny today - at last some sunshine[clap][clap][clap][clap]

Well done Liz and Paula
Fiona-hope all goes well today
Sharon-hope they get what they deserve!!!!!
Julie-I am horrified to hear what happened to your son. As I read it I was totally incensed! I hope he gets over it in time. Something like that must be so terrifying.
I've had a sad day today. Have been to the funeral of a close neighbour who was only in her early 60's. Days like this really make me think about the concept of living for today and our own mortality. There are only a few houses in our street but I've been to 3 neighbour's funerals since November[msnscared]
Carole
Congratulations Liz and Paula, another lb off [clap][clap][clap] have a great holiday Liz, enjoy every mouthful[msnwink]
Carol and Fiona [grouphug] it's gonna get better - hopefully soon [grouphug]
Kazzie it's great to have your join us, i love your avatar, it makes me smile[msnsmile2]i've been doing SW since Jan 2nd, the day before my 37th birthday[msneek] and i have a lot to lose, at the moment i aim for 1/2 stone at a time and then the goal doesn't seem to far away,
i'm 2lb off losing 2 stone (was 1/2lb off til i visited cadburys world!!!) and i have done this by eating loads and not depriving myself of little chocolate treats or the occasional drink either, so it can be done[msnsmile2]
i want to lose another 1 1/2 - 2 stone but will set target nearer the time, at the moment i'm just enjoying my food and celebrating each little target as i achieve it[clap]
the girls on here are a great support and i couldn't have got this far without them[grouphug][grouphug][grouphug]
and i can only echo what the others have said join a class, make the commitment and you definately wont regret it[msnwink]

Hi girls! since I checked in with you last week and discovered you were all SW fans - I have joined our local SW club - first time earlier this evening. The leader has told me to stick to red and green days for the first 4 weeks at least, to get used to the programme and so not to even bother to read the mix/match days etc.
Carbs are no good for me so I guess it will be red days from here on in....
oh well - off to read the good book now ~ any hints or tips?[msnscared]

Evening all, had my weight-in but rather disappointed as I lost only half a pound, really thought I had lost more, still it gives me something to aim for next week. DH thinks it is probably because I have not got out for so much exercise this week because of the weather.
Welcome Kazzie, if you do not want to join a SW class buy the magazine and see what you think, with only one stone to loose you might be able to do it without a class. They do give you great support though as well as all the others on here do.
Off to have supper now, rather late because of the class, smoked haddock and veg for me. Have to make a cheese sauce of DH but will resist. He presented me with a G & T when I arrived home, it was delicious, first alcholic drink this week.
Jill
Well done Jill, any loss is good so don't be disappointed, maybe just have another read through the book and fine tune what you are doing, you never know[msnwink]
Les, glad you have joined a class[clap][clap]
Please please don't be afraid of carbs!!! The green days are fabulous as well as the red days, I used to avoid all the carbs but now I have cous cous, lentil salad, spicy chickpea, potato curry, SW home made chips, jacket potatoes etc - before SW I used to avoid all of those types of foods, but now I eat them and the weight is coming off!!![msnsmile2]
Mizzy is right the support on here is great and we all learn from each other[msnwink][clap][sporty]
So keep posting your food diaries so we can all spot if any of us are doing anything wrong like I did with my Success Express day the other week[msnwink]
Red day diary for me today...........
porridge HC b
banana
skinny latte x 2 = HC a's x 2
tuna salad
fresh pineapple
mixed grill, salad and SW home made chips HC b
got melon, peaches and low fat nat yog for later
2 litres of water[angel]
Just popping in quickly to say that I lost 1 1/2lb tonight, I received my 1/2 stone award too.

Well done Jill and Sally[clap][clap][clap]
My award is stuck on the back of my book. Going to start working hard to get my stone award now. First I need to lose 1 1/2lb more to be back to what I was in October, one step at a time[msnwink]
Welcome to Karen, I would say join a class if you can, you will get lots of help and encouragement and you also pick up loads of information there too.
Well done to Les for joining a class.
Jill, don't forget you have lost 6lb in your first 2 weeks[clap]
Girls good morning, hope everyone is doing ok, had a quick read through the posts, there are soooo many I have missed. Fiona I completely and utterly feel for you darling, what a horrible week you are having, and you must be in bits. I have a 14 yr old, so just beginning to experience how stubborn and irrational a teenager can be, you are definately being put through a grinder at the moment, you poor thing.
The little mites in their school uniform look gorgeous, beautiful pictures girls!
I think reading through, and realising all the ups and downs we go through, I myself have a major problem in my home life, its no wonder that our eating habits fly out the window, the emotional strain is immense. I think everyone who has had a bad week and still managed to stay close to the SW plan, without falling too far from it, needs a medal.
LOL I have time today, but everyone is snoozing, have a good nights sleep all!

Good morning all, not feeling quite so depressed this morning, woke at 6am and felt very positive, even got up and took the dog for a walk before having a cup of tea, left DH in bed asleep. Will have to my second walk before lunch today as we are going to see the DA Vinci code this afternoon and then go and see the Round the World boats which are at the same place as the cinema. Will let you know what we think of the film.
Planning a green day today,
Cereal and banana for breakfast.
Omelette for lunch and apple
Pasta and something for supper and strawberries
Plus extra fruit and yoghurt during the day
Will catch up on everyones news when I get back from shopping.

Running total for me is now 2 stone 12 1/2lb. As I mentioned my goal is to get the extra 1 1/2lb off to be back to the 3 stone off.
Rachel has gone into college this morning for another English Lan/Lit exam, rather her than me[msnscared]
Awful day here again, Jessica has a dressing up day at school today. She had to go as someone from another country. She looked great in her spanish flamingo(spelling) dress not so good with a coat on top[msneek]. I took some photos and will ask the girls to help me get in on here, as I'm too dumb to do it.

Morning all!!
Sally and Jill ..well done ladies[clap][clap][clap]
Theresa....[grouphug].. I think we could all write a book. couldn't we!! Dm me if you need!
Well... we finally saw some justice yesterday at court!!!!
The yob who commited the robbery on my ES had to be "produced" from prison to appear at court[msnoo]! He was apparently arrested 2 weeks ago for another violent offence and then remanded in custody because he was on bail for this offence!
He initially wanted to plea bargain and reduce the offence to "Theft" from person !!!! (he'd then get a lesser sentence!)
I told them to go and take a runing jump.....or words to that effect!
2 hours later his defence solicitor came back and he's changed his plea to GUILTY[clap]......So the children didn't have to give evidence, thank goodness.
He received 1 year in custody on top of his existing sentence of 18 months!!
Anyway...back on track today with the food diary!
Porridge for breakfast
black coffee
Tuna jacket pot for lunch
muller light yog
apple
...cant decide on dinner yet!
weather awful here...just booked some flights for Spain for next week!!![msnwink][msnwink]
Hi Girls,
Thanks for your welcomes.
Since you all seem to be doing so well with the SW I will have a look into it, as I dont know anything about it at all. I am not sure if there is a class locally, I will do a little searching. For now I will just stick to counting calories.
I went to the quiz night at the local pub last night, managed to stick within my calorie allowance. I had 2 low sugar bacardi breezers and a diet coke.
Jill, I dont just have a stone to lose, that is just what I will be happy to lose before my hols beginning of August.
Have a great day everyone.
Karen

Karen, I am sure you will find a class near you to join, if the one nearest to you is not at a convenient time, just put in a neighbouring postcode and find another one. I do not go to the one nearest me as the time was not convenient so just perserved until I found one at the right time and day.
Well done Julie.
Hope you feel better soon Julie.

Morning all, well done to those who have lost weight [clap] (sorry had 3 pages to catch up on, gosh don't we natter!) welcome Karen.
Meet with YD went fairly well, she came home for supper and I then drove her back to where she was staying so I could see it. Very late back home and down in Bournemouth at a funeral yesterday so not had time to check in. YD is coming home for 3 days tomorrow to see how things go, so we will see.
Not done too well on the diet front yesterday as lunch was M&S grub at the home of DH's cousin. Ate the veggies (carrot, toms, celery & cauli) plus koftas & mozzerella balls, had 2 ¼s of smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches and some raspberries and strawberries - not covered in cream and sugar like the others did!
Supper was fresh tortellini stuffed with cheese with low fat cheese sauce, plenty of fruit.
Am sitting down to plan everything and go shopping according to list as with all the trauma of the last 10 days that has been the problem.
Bank Holiday weekend so this is not an excuse to eat tons everyone - speaking from the voice of experience! As always planning is the key to this isn't it gals?
Quick question for everyone - hope you don't mind me asking, but my supermarket bills are in my view quite high, so just wondered................
How much do you spend at the supermarket each month????
I will tell you mine later when I have added it all up![msnwink]
Morning all,
I have downloaded the 7 day menu, thanks Mizzy, I cant believe how much it says you can eat!
Am I right in thinking that you have a green day followed by a red day? I will buy the magazine today so I can learn a bit more. Can anybody recommend a SW book?
None of the classes nearby are at a convenient time unfortunately, so I will probably have to go further afield to find one. Too busy being a taxi service for my daughter and all the activities that she does[msnoo]
Hope everybody has a good weekend.

Pleased to report I had a good first day yesterday - and started today with a leisurely brunch of bacon, poached egg and tomato! Planning to spend the BH weekend in learning about SW before I go back to work... I too downloaded the free 7-day plan from the SW website. Will have to ignore the green days - they don't work for me, too carb-heavy.
We have a lovely farm shop close by where I work - the meat is fantastic, also the fruit and vegetables.....what a difference to 'supermarket stuff'.... for this reason I really don't have a large supermarket bill - I only tend to nip in for a few basics (bread, milk, marg etc!) and there are only the 2 of us now. A £30 spend in the farm shop will last just over a week for us... so don't think that will be of any help to your question Julie?![msnsmile]

I did an online asda shop a few weeks ago Julie and was astonishedto find my final bill was over £300.00, that wasn't even a months worth of shopping, just filling the cupboards. I tend to shop daily for fruit, veg and meat...... now I'll get the calculator out[msnscared]

Morning all, sorry afternoon now, been busy this morning walking the dog then agility classes with her. Now catching up on the news. Glad to hear things are going well with YD Fiona, hope the next three days pass smoothly, remember lots of deep breaths and counting to 10.
Les, I think you will find that green days will work, it is surprising how eating the carbs does help and does not put the weight on. Then don't forget you can always have some quorn on a green day, if you are not keen, just disguise it with various flavourings and you will not be able to tell the difference. The quorn sausages are quite good too.
Having a red day today:-
Bacon, tomato and fried eggs (no fat) for breakfast
Lunch cold meat and salad
Supper steak, veg and new potatoes.
Plus the usual fruit, lots of, and yoghur.
Paula have a relaxing time with your daughters away, enjoy the peace and quiet and spend some time pampering yourself.
Julie, my supermarket bill varies each week, it just depends on how much shopping I do locally and how much I have in the freezer. I would guess an average is £60-70 for the two of us.
Jill
yes Karen you can alternate between red and green or you can do all red or all green, i tend to stick with green with the occasional red day for a change
then there are two other plans but like the consultant says much better mastering the red and green before you complicate things with the mix to max and success express
Julie, i'm always shocked by how much we spend in the supermarket, i think mr morrison gets most of my dosh, my husband is paid weekly and we usually do a big shop on fri/sat spending about £80 and then 2 or 3 smaller top ups during the week spending about £15-20 each time so thats approx £120-140 each week[msneek]
i do pay slightly more as i buy organic whenever i can, sadly there's no farm shops near me but i do visit the farmers market when it comes to town
Mizzy
Hi, I goto Morrisons too and spend between £80-£100 each week[:O] Plus bread and milk in the week, I come home from shopping and still seem to have nothing I fancy for tea[msnmad]
OMG!!!! I spend approx £300 per week and over £1000 per month for 5 of us[msneek][msnoo][msnembarrased]
I spend a fortune on fruit/yogurt/fruit juice etc as we all have our 5 a day plus the children all take packed lunches which I make x 3 daily[msneek][msnoo][msnembarrased]
I shop daily too to avoid waste, but compared to everyone else I am spending way too much[msnsad][msncry]
