API is required for all flights into the USA. If you booked directly with the airline online there is probably a way to log in to the site to update the details on your booking (put in your passport details, name, address, address of first night, etc.). If you booked via a general flight or travel website you may need to go via them to input your API. I'm not sure what the process is if you booked via a travel agent - they'll be able to advise you what you need to do.
You will also need an ESTA for each traveller as well, as mentioned by George.

Hmmmm, I thought all we needed was an ESTA form, I haven't even heard of API never mind get one and our flight is less than a month :/
API is Advance Passenger Information so there is nothing to get. The Airline has to pass the information I think 24 hours befopre the flight. All you need to do is give them your passport information (number, expiry date etc.) and the address where you will be spending your 1st night in the USA. You can do it on-line with Virgin and I recall Thomsons sent me a link when I put the information in on-line.
I'd contact US Airways, I'm sure they will have something similar.

I had to do it last year with virgin ok, but can see nothing on the us airways site, but will enquire with Thomas cook, who we booked through. Just collected our " tickets" yesterday, a piece of a4sheet print out with the flight details etc printed on it. How times have changed!
Have a look on their site under Travel tools and manage my reservation. Normally when you are in your reservation there is an option to list the required APD information.
I have booked with US air on the Manchester to Tampa route. I booked online direct with them. There is NO place on the web site to give API although Passport numbers were taken at the time of booking. I emailed out of concern and received the following information.
Dear Mr. Vickers,
Thank you for your reply.
Please be advised that there is no need to provide passport numbers and
address of the first nights stay in the USA 72 hours before departure.
Passport nubmers are only required at check in, if you check in on the
website, the website will ask you for that information as well as the
address of the first nights stay in the USA.
For assistance when calling from outside of the United States, please go
