Hi Belfast Bob and LFC George

As promised here is how we got on with the Dublin - Philly- Orlando flight last Tuesday with US airways.

We arrived in Dublin and checked in at Terminal 2 about 9am and went thru security and straight down to Immigration and Customs - all cleared and boarded. Seats
comfortable and reasonable leg room although aisle very narrow. Just one problem there was no seat back entertainment on our flight although we managed as we had two lap tops and an iPad and phone to play with and we were all tired as we hadn't slept much on MOnday night. Arrived in Philly and departure gate was in same concourse so plenty of time for connection. There was a delay of about an hour leaving Philly to go to Orlando cos the weight needed balanced or something? flight from Dublin to Philly served usual airplane dinner on departure and a toasted sandwich about 2 hours before landing. There was food to buy on the Philly - Orlando flight but we had eaten in the airport so just had the free beverages on the plane.

All in all happy with the flight and service and connection time wasn't a problem - just be prepared for no seat back entertainment although may be a bigger plane when you travel if its a busier time

Thanks for that Judy - as I thought, ni back seat screens. Still, might change before we go in 31 days...leave some sun and bargains for us

Plenty of sun today Carol - haven't started Shopping yet as we were in S Dakota last week visiting our eldest and then we all went on a road trip to Mount Rushmore, Badlands and Crazy Horse memorial - The Badlands have to be seen to be believed

Thanks a lot Judy, I was aware of the back of seat issue but it would not bother me too much, I might just bring my laptop. Hope your enjoying it

Thats great news - we are looking for flights now for September from Manchester and US airways is comin up £200 cheaper pp than virgin (around £732 for Virgin). So will definatley consider.

However, I have also looked at Virgin from London to Miami and these seem quite reasonable (£576) - anyone done this route? and/or used KLM/Delta? - any reviews on these would also be great.

Off after surgery at moment and obviosly tooooo much time on my hands and gonna confuse myself - I see it coming

We use London Miami with Virgin quite a few times due to cost. Happy with service. This year we got a fantastic deal with Continental (now United)

We have used delta via Atlanta to Miami. They were fine on the outward trip but when we were delayed coming home and missed the conecting flight to Manchester they were superb. They put us in a hotel overnight and with the next days flight full they eventually (after some gentle pressure) agreed to upgrade us to first class. Great trip home :>))

London-Miami fares are always better value because there is genuine competition on the route with Virgin, BA and American offering direct flights. although I think Delta have now dropped their direct service. Of course, if you are based closer to Manchester you'll have to factor in the costs associated with getting to London and from Miami to Orlando.

For me, the better option is to fly from Manchester and connect in the USA. Continental, Delta, US Airways and American will all do that in September for under £550 to both Orlando and Miami. BA to Miami will be a bit more and you'll connect through Heathrow.
