roast potatoes

free on a green with our without the skins if cooked with fry light
free again on green if you use olive oil as a healthy A = 1tbsn extra virgin olive oil

on a red day
you can again use healthy extras A for oil and B for potatoes if you leave the skin on and have a weighed amount 1 healthy b = 227gm

using just syns

per 28g = 2syns on red and 1 on green

sorry it took so long to get back to you sandra[msnsmile]

Its a bit quiet on here? Hope you are all doing OK?

I had a chocs blip last night, only about 12 syns worth but more than I intended - I was a bit hypo when I got home and I needed a fix asap[msnsad]

I am going to have a good day today though and I am going to use my free sweet pots I won at Sainsburys to make some more wedges as they are yummy[msnwink]

Have a truly wonderful day all!!!

ive just got in from the post office, and now managed to get on this morning, the weather is horrible up here today raining and blustery, and its match day as well so i will freeze, but cant miss it its a big one we play Liverpool, we will probably lose. Still 2 weeks today and im off to the villa, flying from Manchester so i hope the snow has gone by then and we dont get any delays, we are going down by train and it doesnt take much to delay them. pat

10-02-2007, 15:20
Jan, make sweet pots in the same way you make syn free chips only wedge shaped and serve them very extra light mayo[msnwink]

Pat I have just seen the Virgin to Orlando take off from my family room window, there is no snow here at the moment and I am sure you will be fine in to 2 weeks, are you coming down the night before just to be safe[msnwink]?

bit of a blip for me too yesterday Julie, felt tired and had a headache so opted for chinese take away instead of making something far more healthy

chicken chow mein approx 7 syns which was ok til i added a few prawn crackers and a WW banoffee pudding, [msnembarrased] i have syns saved from earlier in the week and by being extra carefull over the next few day i should still manage a small loss or stay the same[msneek]

it's bucketing down here and i have paid penance for those extra syns by taking Olly for a much longer walk than usual[sporty]i'll walk him again at tea time too

today i'm doing good, so far, will check in later

Jan there should be syn values for indian in the back of your food optomising book under take aways, from what i remember madras is one of the better ones, are you brave enough to look?[msnscared]

visiting mil this afternoon[msnsad]

got this recipe from class for a tasty alternative to chicken kiev

slice your chicken breast horizontaly and stuff the inside with a mixture made from laughing cow light cheese triangles mixed with crushed garlic and mixed herbs, wrap the breasts in lean bacon and cook for approx 20 mins in oven, serve with baked potato wedges or new potatoes using a healthy b and seasonal veg, laughing cow light is a healthy B for 5 triangles, you can swap the laughing cow light for another cheese from your healthy options list, tastes nice, mmmmm[msntongue]

10-02-2007, 16:06
Beef Madras 400g average serving is 11 syns on Red and 24 syns on Green[msnwink] Not sure how much just the sauce would be.

Janny meant to post yesterday about puds, so hope this is not too late - was at the hairdresser being created into a vision of beauty (had their work cut out then[msntongue]).

Have you got the Nov/Dec Slimmng World Mag - Mizzy made this pud and raved about it - Spiced apricot clafoutis - 5 syns on both days. Altneratively creamy mango & cardomom fool - 4½ syns.

http://www.orlando-guide.info/forums/Data/mizzy/2006102420934_clafoutis.jpg

the clafoutis is very nice Janny and can be made in individual sizes, i made one with apricots and one with peaches, the verdict with our family that whilst both where nice the peach one was the favourite[msntongue]

10-02-2007, 19:32
I love the look of that Mizzy and I am going to try the peach one this week as it's half term and the children love cooking[msnsmile2]

well i'm pleased to report a much better day for me today although emotionally i've been in a funny mood

i feel very fat and bloated and i think it's the steroids messing with my system, my self esteem has been low [msnsad] so i opted out of the visit to mil because i knew that if i went i'd feel even worse, she has that effect on me[msnscared]

i'm just glad that food wise i've pretty much kept it together, need some big hugs[grouphug] but alas it's footie tonight so dh pre occupied, what is it about men and football? aww well, i'll have to settle for good book and cadburys highlights later instead[msnsmile]

Julie, where is the food in your food diary? i can only see one meal and that's a small one (scrambled eggs and toast) pls tell me you have had some tea, no wonder you have the munchies mrs [msnwink]

Morning all, been out to the farmers market for veggies and farm eggs, just making leek and potato soup for lunch and having roast chicken for supper, so will be having green day in view of soup! Should have made carrot and coriander but had loads of leeks. Only had 2 bananas for breakfast as allowing for roast supper tonight.

Made curry last night, chicken korma and beef madras, 2tbs of pataks paste and the rest onions for korma and onions & tomato for madras. Did add coconut to the korma and extra low fat creme fraiche so allowed for it in my syns.

Have a good day all, will walk the hounds this afternoon - DH did this morning's lot, younger one is v poorly and not eating so will have to watch - I feel a trip to the vet coming on!

i cant believe how well im doing this week,if im honest im guilty in past weeks of putting stuff in my mouth and not counting it, but this week ive stuck rigidly and wrote everything down, and also kept a diary of how im doing and feeling, if i can get to weigh day like this i will deserve a good weight loss, ive made a carrot cake out of sw book this morning it was really easy, so i will let you know later what it tastes like pat

Well done Pat - hope you keep going til weigh day!

Well, been florida shopping this morning, dh got stuff, son got stuff, ed got stuff and I bought stuff for yd (she's been at brownie camp this weekend - just picked her up - exhausted but has had a great time, first time away from home - didn't miss me a bit![msncry]), anyway, nothing for me as usual, I wasn't really in the shopping mood today so I'll go back another day.

I lost 1lb this week, which I really don't deserve, probably the rest of my [}:)] will catch up with me next week[msnscared]. Glad to say though that my back is finally feeling better so will get back on treadmill in the morning but will take it steady to start with.

Afternoon all, fruit for breakfast, couple of slices of ham with salad for lunch and beef stew with veggies planned for supper. Got some lovely purple sprouting broccoli at the market and will behaving that plus some carrots.

Millie (youngest dog) is much better thank you, far more bouncy today, although still obviously not 100%. I eventually got her to eat egg with toast soldiers last night and then some left over chicken. Am off to town in a minute to get some fish as feel it is a fish and rice to settle the tum more. She was all limp and lethargic yesterday and just lay around looking miserable and she was entirely different this morning.

Just trying to persuade ED that walking in the rain is not going to kill her and will save getting the car out!

Mizzy

Thank you so much for information on roast potatoes. Sorry for delay with thanks but I have been unable to get internet connection since Saturday morning when my telephone went funny and kept cutting people off. Now have access thank goodness!!!!!
I am sure you will lose the 1lb you put on with all the support from the girls on here ... go Mizzy go....[sporty]
I invested in a pair of Weigh[bad language filtered out]cher scales from Macy's last night. They were $75 but it was a tax free weeekend, plus the 11% etc.etc. so got the for $52. Did not like what they showed - looks like I am the same as when I got here 5 weeks ago!! Tonight we visited a new restaurant and had macedamia crusted chicken with a creamy pasta sauce..ouch[msnscared]
Must get some excercise this week[sporty][sporty] and pray[angel]

Morning all, well I am following the trend with 1lb on[msncry] I know it is due to the extra few choccies I have had but also the horrible * week[msnsad]

I have made a deal with one of my members that we will text each other if we eat any extra this week so I am going to have a fabulous first week again!!!

Mizzy and Jan, come on girls we can do this[clap][clap][clap]

I am planning on going on the treadmill this morning then weather permitting the children and I are going out leaflet dropping - they are on half term - so lots of exercise to day plus 100% food optimising too[sporty][clap][sporty][clap]

Sandra it maybe be that the new scales weigh heavier than those at SW [msnwink]

im sure jan and mizzy you will have no bother getting yourselves going this week you sound full of determination, i havent been on the treadmill this week, i suffered quite a bit with my knees after being on it last week so i think i will just have to do it 2 or 3 tmes a week at a gentle pace. but the food plan is going excellent im just off to plan todays menu, i think it will be SWbeefburgers for tea as the whole family like them, i much prefer to make something we all like i dont feel quite so left out and deprived see you later be good pat

Morning all, just off out with the hounds - younger one continuing to improve - wolfed down fish and rice last night!

DH's birthday today so out to supper tonight - but am going to make them sit in the car while I nip in and be weighed.

Not sure what I will be having tonight so playing safe at the moment, omelette with mushrooms and tomato for breakfast, salad for lunch and fruit, which hopefully will leave me free to choose whatever I like (ha!) at the restaurant - probably go for a steak or one of the salads. But might just find room for a pud[msnwink].

Food wise - good breakfast of banana and yogurt but made the classic mistake of going to Sainsburys when I was starving and had a homemade cookie then got home having forgot to get eggs which I was having for lunch and whilst making cheese and ham panini's for the children I ate half on one[msnembarrased][msnembarrased][msnembarrased]

Good morning all, well it is morning here in sunny Florida. The scales were showing a slight gain at the weekend so have decided I must be good for the next few days food wise. am having fruit for breakfast each day, avoiding the croissants and muffins that everyone else has.[angel] Salad for lunch, although we had pitta bread yesterday when we were at one of the Malls. That leaves me free to have my syns in the evening the form of alcohol and nibbles.

There seems so much going on here at the moment it is really difficult to keep up, but well done to all the losses during the last week[clap][clap][clap].[clap] I am sure that those of you who have gained will soon loose it though. Just off to ring Sally to find out how she is, but she certainly did well last week with her loss.

Sandra, I will try and give you a ring later and we can carry on from where we left off the other day. I did try and ring you but could not get through, now know why. Karen, if you are around send us a DM and perhaps we can meet up.

well done paul it may be you will have to rethink your target for easter, on your peformance up to now, im sure the rest of the ladies will echo how jealous we are of you,
ive had another good day, i had a chocolate off my daughter earlier out of a box her boyfriend bought her for valentines, ive no idea what make they were so i cant count the syn value so ive allowed 4 syns. by the way i made the carrot cake out of a sw book on sunday its ok but its a bit soggy in the middle and its not sweet enough for me and it could do with more spice. so im not sure if i will make it again pat

well done Jaff another great loss [clap][clap][clap] and losing the plot once isn't too bad a jaffa cake is 2.5syns so working on the assumption that there's 12 in the packet that would be 30syns, well within your weekly allowance, i have one suggestion

how about building in the odd biscuit or treat? so you don't suddenly lose the plot and eat the full packet in one go, that way you won't be depriving yourself and having those guilty feelings that i'm sure engulfed you after you realised that you'd eaten the full packet, would that work better for you?

Sharon, i was just wondering about you earlier today, it'll get better so hang on in there[grouphug]

Jill, good to hear you're having a great time and being an[angel] too

Food wise here's my food diary for today

usual brekkie 2syns
plums
no time for lunch[msneek] not recommended i know[msnembarrased]
yogurt and banana
plums
quorn bolognese and masses of pasta
mini highlights 4 syns

total 6 syns[clap]

forgot to say earlier, whilst at the outlet village i bought 4 small jars of flavoured coffee from Julian Graves, it's calorie and sugar free so should be syn free but need to check it out for sure, the flavours i choose where ameretto, hazlenut, creme caramel and double choc and they all smell gorgeous[msntongue]
did i mention i have some of my sense of smell back, it's not all there but the odd smell really knocks me off guard, after not able to smell now for over 6 years it's a little wierd, my food tastes different too, better different[msnsmile]

i'm not at blackpool Jan, Julie is, hope Julie is having a good time becuase like her i'm not a blackpool fan either, i've been once and that was enough

my halo is still fine, i will not get the longer walks with Olly today (i've had two short ones once with the dog and then from my hairdressers to my mums) so i'll make up for it with some extra vigorous housework, the house looks shocking anyone coming in would think we'd been burgled[msnembarrased]

food wise i've has usual brekkie and batchelors pasta and sauce for lunch so all syn free up to now, planning on having sweet potato wedges for tea with chilli beans and quorn sausages which is my all time favourite tea and i'm making a fruit salad to get me out of the "must have a sweet biscuit after lunch, tea etc" i always crave something sweet after a meal, why??????

Pat, have a lovely romantic night out, enjoy it but choose wisely[msnsmile]

mizzy im not going out tonight, we went shopping today, im looking for a pair of trousers to travel to florida in, i would like something casual, not dress pants, im a bit lonk in the tooth for cargo pants and i didnt want jeans, they are a bit heavy, i usually go in jogging pants but the ones i have are too big(how good is that) but ive not seen any i like. i think i need to go to m&s and see what i can find there.
we had a sandwich for lunch in a coffee shop i went for damage limitation with a cheese toastie the bread was white but better than a huge crusty sandwich with loads of mayo in it, so i was quite proud of myself. good luck to anyone weighing in tonight pat

Well I seem to have kept up the 1lb trend as I gained it last week - now I am 1.5 from my target. It seemed as if 75% of my group gained last night and those that did lose -the losses were small ones so I didn't feel so bad.
.Think I probably ate too much meat as that always seems to do me in .So it's back to the green this week to see if I can shift what I need.
Just come back from a 45 min run outside -it was lovely - to discover my "friend" has entered me into the Race for Life again in June so I need to get the K's under my belt.
Good luck to those weighing in for the rest of the week.

pam i feel like that too, im really dreading weighing in, although hand on heart i have had a perfect week, if i havent it has been a small mistake i have made.
its happened to me before when i feel like i deserved a good weight loss and have stayed the same, the expectations are so high when you know you have done well, and then it doesnt show on the scales.but im now talking to myself and convincing myself that no matter what the scales show i feel like ive lost.
thats a good idea mizzy about the trs im going to look this weekend to see what i can find. ive seen some which are linen but they crease so easy and after sitting for so long on the journey i will look like ive been dragged through a hedge backwards by the time i get off the plane.

Good luck with weigh ins ladies, I am sure you will be OK. It is very rare for anyone to have a completly 100% week but people still lose weight by doing it 80, 90, 99% of the time etc. As consultants we often ask for a show of hands for anyone who has truly had a 100% week and as yet I have not had anyone[msnwink]

I certainly have not had a good week so far but I plan to turn it around from today and hopefully I will have a loss come Tuesday[msnsmile]

Evening all, busy couple of days. Well weigh in produced a small gain of +½lb - so going with the trend on here then! Also was a sign of the evening. Went to a restaurant we eat at regularly and have always had a good meal, but Tues pm the food was dreadful. I had a veggie risotto that was so bland - no herbs, seasoning or even parmesan to make it taste of anything. Girls both had caesar salad - which I might add (as I told the manager) they have eaten all over the world without any problems) - and it was absolutely inedible - so strongly fishy it was revolting. After complaining we got the caesars refunded (although only 1 was taken off the bill, but by then we just wanted out of there), and free puds.

So disappointing meal when it was to celebrate DHs birthday. Lesson learnt - stick to what you know is ALWAYS good, even if it is a little more. Mind you £110 for 4 is hardly cheap - and that is without the puds and 1 caesar salad. And to add insult to injury YD up half the night being ill[msnmad]!

Good day yesterday, good today until I succumbed to a hot cross bun, just about to look it up and no doubt it will horrify me enough not to eat any more!

mizzy
15-02-2007, 21:09
i'm having a great day too, yet again i've made another huge fruit salad and the whole family seems to be enjoying dipping in, just hope there's some left for my supper

so far today i've had usual brekkie
leek and potato soup
fruit salad
tea will be wholewheat pasta with chopped up quorn sausages, mushrooms, spring onions and sweet chilli sauce (3 syns for the sauce)

total syns with tea will be 5 [angel] and i've not thought of chocolate once today[msnoo]

Nothing for me to update as I stayed the same, I am happy with that as I did go off track a few times, out for a meal last Friday, I shared a starter then had crab cakes and salad and some chips [msnoo]chocolate yesterday and Monday I had to work until 10pm as we were running a competition in Farnham and sandwiches were supplied[msneek]

well done Sally for staying the same [clap] it will be harder for you, must be very close to target now?

Fiona, we must have been typing at the same time earlier so i hope you don't think i was ignoring you, i think that's disgusting how you where expected to pay for inedible food, do you know that you can refuse to pay and only offer what you think the food is actually worth?, hassle, i know but you are legally entitled to do this, it also sounds like your daughter has perhaps a little food poisoning or the hygene was amiss somewhere in the restaurant, uurghhh doesn't bear thinking about does it[msnmad] don't worry about the 1/2lb gain as you know from experience it will soon go, and i'm not sure, but i think a hot cross bun is about 9syns[msnoo]

morning everyone, and pam its not a nice feeling, but im going to do the same as i did last week and write everything down and just see if it rolls over and comes off the next week,it will be even harder but i am going to give myself a good talking to, and also we talked last night in class about losing inches if not weight i wish i had measured myself at the start because i do feel slimmer, maybe there is too much pressure on what the scales say, our consultant has not had a good jannuary and she has decided she will get on the scales, have her weigh recorded but doesnt want to know the result, because she knows by her clothes when she has lost weight. its a bit late for me now as its so close to my holidays, but it may be worth considering when i come back.
by the way i cheated last night, so im playing catch up. pat

mizzy
16-02-2007, 15:12
well done Pat and Pam, a lb-2lb each week is what's recommended for safe and longer term weightloss, you're more likely to keep it off by losing slow and steady[clap][clap][clap] and i know it's frustrating to lose it this way as i've been in the same position but remember a 1lb a weeks is 52 lbs in a year and i'm sure you would both be pleased with that sort of loss[msnsmile2]

remember also the fable of the tortiose and the hare?, well there's a lot to be said about those who are slow and steady after all the tortoise won the race[msnwink]

i would also say that we sometimes we can get get obsessed with the number on those scales so like your consultant suggested Pat, there's other ways to determine how well you are doing,

for example, your health may have improved, energy increased, improved self confidence, clothes feeling and fitting better and by actual body measurements, all are very good indicators of success and some are worth more than any number the scales may throw up at you

so keep up the good work ladies, you are both doing excellent and should be proud of your achievements[msnsmile2]

well done Pat and Pam, a lb-2lb each week is what's recommended for safe and longer term weightloss, you're more likely to keep it off by losing slow and steady[clap][clap][clap] and i know it's frustrating to lose it this way as i've been in the same position but remember a 1lb a weeks is 52 lbs in a year and i'm sure you would both be pleased with that sort of loss[msnsmile2]

remember also the fable of the tortiose and the hare?, well there's a lot to be said about those who are slow and steady after all the tortoise won the race[msnwink]

i would also say that we sometimes we can get get obsessed with the number on those scales so like your consultant suggested Pat, there's other ways to determine how well you are doing,

for example, your health may have improved, energy increased, improved self confidence, clothes feeling and fitting better and by actual body measurements, all are very good indicators of success and some are worth more than any number the scales may throw up at you

so keep up the good work ladies, you are both doing excellent and should be proud of your achievements[msnsmile2]

morning everyone, and pam its not a nice feeling, but im going to do the same as i did last week and write everything down and just see if it rolls over and comes off the next week,it will be even harder but i am going to give myself a good talking to, and also we talked last night in class about losing inches if not weight i wish i had measured myself at the start because i do feel slimmer, maybe there is too much pressure on what the scales say, our consultant has not had a good jannuary and she has decided she will get on the scales, have her weigh recorded but doesnt want to know the result, because she knows by her clothes when she has lost weight. its a bit late for me now as its so close to my holidays, but it may be worth considering when i come back.
by the way i cheated last night, so im playing catch up. pat

julie ive just read your message on the bottom of your food diary about booking up for next year, thats great. am i right in thinking thats when your children are on easter holiday, its not right on easter next year with it falling so soon, dont leave it too long before you book as we have already had enquiries for then, unfortunatly we dont advertise on OV there is a waiting list and we cant get on at the minute, w have had enquiries from other sites. but its a very popular time of year. pat

Pat its actually after Easter as Easter is 21-24 March so its when the children are back at school, its the first time EVER we will be taking them out of school, but my son will have done all his exams and will be due to go to grammar school in the following Sept and my youngest is still really young, the older 3 will not be coming[msnwink]

Hello everyone,

Well, been hard at it this week. Deep deep cleaning ready for when we go away. We have my niece staying in our house whilst we are away and couldn't have anyone staying in the house the way it was! I've had half term so had to make the most of the time, don't normally have time with working nearly full time. I've done so much spring cleaning this week you wouldn't believe!

Foodwise, been up and down, not too bad, lots of exercise but some things passed my lips that maybe shouldn't have[msnembarrased].

Had a bit of a bad day on Wednesday. Went shopping for clothes for Florida. ED talked me into trying on a tankini! Wish I Hadn't! I found it very sole destroying. After feeling quite good with having lost what I had so far, I put this thing on and felt like I hadn't lost a thing! Who was this blobby fat thing looking back at me from the mirror - it couldn't be me, I've lost 2 and a half stone, I couldn't still be this big![msnsad]. Still, after quickly putting the tankini back on the hanger, my ED (13 going on 30!!) gave me a good talking to and said that actually it didn't look as bad as I said it did and just imagine how I would feel if I hadn't lost the weight I have, I'd be even bigger than I am and twice as fed up!

Anyway, all was made up for when I found 2 pairs of shorts and another pair of trousers that I haven't been able to wear for at least 4 years. I tried on a pair of the shorts with one of the new vest tops that I had bought and stood 5 feet away from the mirror instead of 5 inches and actually realised that it looked ok!

So, there's my week, ups and downs and now another week closer to florida! (only 3 weeks to go now![msnsmile2]. Weigh in for me tomorrow, though not holding out much hope for a loss!

you never know julie b with all that work you have been doing it could well be a loss so best of luck,
well we havent been to the metro centre today either but will definitly go one day next week,i need one or two things for myself for my holiday next saturday.
julie my grandaughters school doesnt have the easter holiday until April 4th next year, thats why i mentioned it, i downloaded a copy of school holls of the council website to give me some idea as to price the seasons for the villa, so it seems there may be different holidays in different areas around the country for easter next year, it will be weird not everybody spending it at the same time pat

That's weird because Easter weekend for 2008 is 21-24 March[msnscared] Most schools incorporate the Easter weekend either at the begining, end or middle of the school holidays.

My son breaks up on the 4 April this year but in 2008 he breaks up on Thursday 20th March[msnwink]

Julie B, you sound just like me, i too have been trying on holiday clothes, looking in the mirror and not best pleased with what i'm seeing, i admit i do look slightly better in my swimsuit, admittedly with a sarong[msneek] but there is definately an improvement though[msnsmile]

and you will show that too Julie B, don't be so critical off yourself[grouphug] you have done really well so remember that and try not to be too hard on yourself[grouphug]

food wise 100% for me today, had a special saturday night treat, a caramac[msntongue] 8-9 syns (think it's 9) but sooo worth it

lots of cleaning, just like you julie B[msnwink] some odd jobs for dh, mainly improving outside security, new lights, fixing a fence that got damaged in the gales of a few weeks ago, he moaned a lot but i want it doing before our hols

long beach walk planned for tommorrow and with all this exercise and my halo [angel] still firmly in place i'm hoping for a good loss on monday

good luck to those weighing in tommorow and before me on monday[clap]

come on girls think about how much you have lost, and dont be so hard on yourselves about the reflection you see in the mirror, because you must have felt worse before you had lost the weight. i have got an awful long way to go, and i cant help looking back over a lot of years more than i care to remember at the wasted years being fat, but i try and just look foward and hope the last years of my life are going to make me feel healthier, i know its too late to look good, as i wanted to be years ago, but we all have regrets. think what you will look like the next time you go to florida, absolute goddesses, NOT good goddesses. cooommmeee oooonnn pat

Evening all, yes I agree with Pat, think positive about what you have lost. I would agree I still see a humungous heffalump in the mirror, but I do try and say to myself, and what would you have looked like if you haven't lost the stone and a half you have.

Another busy day - down to MIL (yippee doo) today, ate in an Italian restaurant - had pasta that arrived swimming in oil, so left the bottom layer and picked all the veggies and pasta off the top. Had a lovely goats cheese salad for starter though. Salad and a small plate of tomato pasta for supper as had no time to shop and we were just s[bad language filtered out]ping from leftovers. Good news is she has finally agreed to put her name down for a residential home up here, so all we have to do now is wait until a vacancy comes up - oh and get rid of everything in her flat she has collected for past 40+ years since they came home from Hong Kong. Awful weather down in Bournemouth compared to the Thames Valley where it was lovely when we left - so made the mistake of no pash and just a jacket and froze!

Will plan my menus tomorrow am for the next week and then do my weekly shop, and give the house a lick and a promise, looking decidedly grubby round the edges!

Good news - YD got her self a part-time job at the local cinema, 2 nights a week until midnight (so have given long lecture about being organised with homework). They are both nights she has a late start the next morning for college.

Hello all been fairly good so far so I can maybe lose the last 1.5 lbs I need to .Went to dinner last night to the friend who beieves the weight will go back on and brought me the big box of chocs last week .I have to admit she was very good to me and provided a low fat cheesecake for pud which I ate .The rest of the meal was a roast so not too bad -I just had to go easy on the gravy .
We are having a taster night on wed at class so I decided to make a batch of choc chip cookies for John & Martin to try out as I am not used to the electric over we have here -I wish I could tell you what they were like but they have all gone !so I am assuming they were ok and will make another batch for the class .

morning all didnt manage to get on yesterday, well ive been very good, i saved plenty of syns for the weekend, and ended up having some raspberries pureed with fromage frais sweetener and meringue broken up on top very tasty i also had a 1/2inch slice of choc cake which i made for the rest of the family, so i dont think that will do too much damage.
well i think today is definitly metro centre we have put off since friday and i cant really go any other day, im out for lunch with a friend tomorrow and wednesday its hairdressers, need to get cracking as we travel early on saturday down to manchester to catch the flight out to florida. im just going to do my first green day of the week as its easier when out and about. will speak later when i get back if ive got the strength pat

Morning everyone :)

Another hectic weekend for me. No beer but I did have some wine. Tried to chose things from the Indian buffet that weren't smothered in creamy sauces. The chinese I had yesterday probably did more damage [msnscared]

Back on track today though
seriously oaty for breakfast
I've made the SW mexican sandwich filling and filled a wholemeal pitta with that for lunch
also brought to work an activa yoghurt, 2 apples, 2 clemtines and a banana
nothing planned as yet for tonight, which is dangerous for me as I will be starving when I get back from the gym and need to be organised or else I'll end up eating rubbish [msneek]

[grouphug] [grouphug] for Julie, hope you're feeling better today.
Great news about your hols too [clap][clap]

Well done Mizzy and Jan [clap] [clap]

You are sounding very positive and determined Julie - you will have a fab week this week [msnwink]

I ended up eating pizza last night - but it was a small WW one and I had a big plate of salad with it and lots of fruit afterwards [clap]

Today's planned food -
seriously oaty
roast chicken, thin spread of onion relish on malted grain bread
tonight I think will be poached eggs, beans and toast
lots of fruit and water too

20-02-2007, 12:57
Julie, i know you must be feeling pretty rotten right now so this is for you[grouphug] i also want you to think about how you would encourage a class member to move on from a similar setback and come out of class feeling more positive about the week ahead

you can do this and you have done it so how can you help yourself?

here's a few things my consultant would say

throw out any left overs from christmas that may have been slipping into your plan
weigh and measure those A's and B's
plan your food for the next few days and go shop so that you have all your cupboards full with the right things you should be eating
ask yourself are you eating enough of the right food or have you cut the portion size down so you are leaning more to those extra syns
don't deprive yourself or make yourself miserable by cutting out foods, build in those syns
and finally are you getting complacent?, it may help to go back to the begining and treat today as the first week, read your book again and magazines to get you motivated

god that sounds bossy when you type it all down but hope this all helps any of us who are struggling[msnsmile]

good going again Julieanne[clap]and good luck to anyone weighing in today[clap]

20-02-2007, 15:14
Thanks Mizzy that's exactly what I have done[msnsmile]

I had a great day yesterday and plan to again today and the rest of the week, I know last weeks problem were due to a combination of the children being off school so my normal routine went out the window, plus I had terrible hormones that increased my cravings for sweet things[msnsad] But that's all behind me now and I am going for a 2-3lb loss[clap]

Have a great day all[msnsmile]

Hi everyone

Just arrived home after 6 weeks in Florida and don't really want to get on the scales as I have a feeling that I have put 3 lbs on!! My weigh in is on Thursday, but I am dreadful at exercise and don't do any except a bit of browsing around the shops, so am dreading going as I will be so cross with myself. Since I started at SW last Oct. I have not had a gain so this would be the first

[msnscared][msneek]
Well done Jan on your 3lbs. You must be walking on air. Good luck everyone this week and hope you follow Jan's downward trend.

20-02-2007, 17:15
Sandra, EVERYONE at some point has a gain and as the others have said 3lbs is nothing, you have got to ask yourself if you have enjoyed your holiday and i'm pretty certain the answer would be YES!

now ask yourself would you have enjoyed it without all the little treats and with constantly worrying what your eating everyday? and i'm pretty certain that you would answer No to that one

you don't have to feel guilty for enjoying yourself and with this plan you will always have ups and downs especially as you get nearer to target when you're working at just how many extra B's to include to maintain the weight loss, that part is incredibly hard

i'm sure with a little determination and effort you could shift 1.5-2lbs over the next few days, it's a simple case of acknowledging the gain, not feeling guilty about it and getting straight back on the plan[clap][clap][clap]

20-02-2007, 17:31

Sandra, I go to florida for 3 weeks on 10th March and if I've put on double that in half the time I still will be doing well!

Well done Mizzy, keep going Mrs, only 3and a half weeks to go for you!

All my holiday shopping is now done, not much for me as usual, but enough to see me though and who knows, maybe I'll find stuff over there for me! Tried on several different lots of swimwear that I'd ordered yesterday, not nearly as traumatic as I thought it would be and actually the one piece cossie looked far worse than the 2 peice! Tankini for the water parks though, I don't think the world is ready for me in bikini just yet![msnwink] (nor me either come to that!).

Julie, keep going girl, I know you can do it![msnsmile2]. You are an inspiration to us all, keep it up!

There is so much to read and keep up-to-date. All I can is well done to all the losses[clap][clap][clap] and hard luck to those who have gained[grouphug][grouphug], I'm sure you will all loose those gains soon enough.

Sandra, sorry I did not get back to you but we have been so busy with guests and jobs, including put in a new PC that time has just gone by. We now have less than a week to go and there are still masses of jobs to be done.

I have not been too good this last week but the scales out here do not actually show a gain but I do find that hard to believe. Once our last lot of guests have gone I will be able to have a good week as nearly all the goodies will have been finished, apart from a few biscuits which DH can finish. I have done quite a bit of swimming but not much walking, I shall have to get those feet walking when I get home. Tansy will not know what has hit her. Extra long walks for the next few weeks to get fit. I have done masses of shopping for new clothes while here, although I'm not the only one. I do not think I have ever spent so much on clothes as I have done this holiday, all at incredible prices as well. No more clothes shopping for me for the rest of the year I have been told.

Off to do some more jobs now. Will see you when I get home and let you know the news on a loss or gain.

hi everyone ive been missing for a couple of days ive been so busy getting ready for our holiday on saturday. i was at the metrocentre yesterday for approx 5-6 hrs and i was exauhsted when i got home, i didnt do too bad foodwise, i didnt have any healthy bs as i had a toasted teacake in the middle of the afternoon, lunch had been potato wedges and coleslaw which i didnt know the syn value of so i didnt have any syns.i had a sm plate of pasta n sauce for tea when i came home, so up to now that has been my only green day all week
today i went out for lunch with friends and had a mixed grill with 2-3 potato wedges and tomato, and after, a bowl of fresh fruit salad with a sm scoop of vanilla ice cream, for tea ive had one slice of bread with bacon, and i succummed to a very thin pancake with a little choc spread and a banana, so i dont think ive done major damage, i havent tried updating my weight loss yet i will just wait till thursday weigh in and see what happens then. pat

Afternoon all, sorry have been very busy I usually have a quick look even if I don't post!

Stayed the same this week, and there was plenty of us in our group. So lots of re-reading of the early pages of the book, food diaries to be completed, and possibly Success Express or Mix n Match.

Well done anyone who has lost, commiserations with those who have put on, but if we all stay focused we can overcome these little blips!!

Am definately back to the gym in the next few days!

It's been a while since I visited this site as I fell off the wagon.
Back at SW now. I lost 3 stone before going to Orlando for 3 weeks at the end of last November where I ate VERY well. Came back just before Christmas and the diet went completely out of the window. Back on track now and wasn't too surprised when on my first weight in I'd but 13lbs back on!! Lost 7lbs in three weeks and my weigh-in is tonight, I think I've done okay. Has anyone tried "Butter Buds" from Lakeland? I have just bought some and think they're okay in mashed and on jacket potatoes. And they are free on both green and red days.

Our local "Chip Shop" does batterless fish so that is good...don't have to pick the batter off:)

you can also get "microwave fish" that is not fried this is great when the family go to the chippy I get fish and chips like the rest of them :D

Thank you everyone for all your words of encouragement. I know I am beating myself up and should be happy that when I was in Fl. last Sept. I was just going into size 18 clothes USA size, and whilst on my last visit tried on a skirt size 14 and it was tooooooo big. I bought a size 12 just for the hell of it and was really pleased with myself.

I don't think I will lose anything during this 48 hours, although I have been so busy today that at 1700 I realised that aprt from coffee, I had nothing to eat all day. I then had 3 ryvita with banana and a plum. I am out to a Rotary dinner tonight, so it is anyone's guess what that will be, and weigh in tomorrow[msnscared][msnscared]

Glad to hear you are in the determined mode Julie, and agree that Mizzy, your posts are absolutely fabulous.

Linda i would ask your consultant about batterless fish from the chip shop, because if it's fried without batter then i'm pretty certain it's syns[msneek]

the reasoning being is that the batter soaks up the fat and protects the fish, putting a fish into a fryer without the batter means that all the oil goes into the fish, worth checking before eating it[msnsmile]

food wise i've finished the day off really well and it's been my first red day in ages, had fruit salad when i've been peckish and it's working just fine[angel] only 23 more sleeps til my holiday and the week before we go is packed with meals out and a special "getting us in the mood for holiday" meal with the kiddies - american style[msntongue] so need to get a few extra lbs shifted just for those[msnwink]

Well done Janny!!![clap][clap][clap][msnsmile2][msnsmile][msncool]

Just shows what some determination can do - now just down that hairdressers and go mad[msnwink]!

Sandra you have done so well, just look at the hurdles you have leapt over, it is very difficult when you reach a plateau (says she been stuck there for about 4 months now but we all know why!), but you can rightly be extremely proud of what you have achieved. Just gain from it and best foot forward.[sporty] (so to speak!)

Have to be up early tomorrow as YD is practising her driving and driving the mini (with me in it of course) to Reading tomorrow am for 9.am start of lessons. Also must finish writing my food diary, gosh if I am writing everything down I might be able to record it accurately on here too!

22-02-2007, 10:06
Morning all!!

Linda 'chip shop' deep fried non battered fish is NOT free on sw and I personally would not recommend eating it as it will be high syns and not very healthy - I would steam, poach, roast or grill fish[msnwink] Although a lot of foods are classed as 'free' on sw you do still have to think about it sensibly and deep fried fish is definitly not free[msnwink]

Janny very well done, I bet you are on cloud nine[clap][clap][clap][clap] I am sure you will not have any problems keeping it there[msnsmile2]

Fiona could to hear YD is driving, my ED passed a few weeks ago and she feels so much more free and less dependent[clap]

Well I have another really good green day yesterday...........

Well, the weigh in was not as bad as I thought and I have stayed the same after 6 weeks in Fla. I felt really good as there were 3 others who had been away for 2 weeks and all gained over 2lbs[msncry]. The meal last night was awful, curry and chips, then icecream. I ate some of the curry, no chips, and 2 spoons of the icecream. When I got home I had a hifi bar and a mullerlite yoghurt as I was starving. Got another meal tonight, again, don't know what it will be, so will be careful as I need a loss next week.

Well done Janny and congratulations[clap][clap]great news.

Food diary today.
Coffee with skimmed milk from allowance
1 Banana
I hifi bar
Homemade chilli and pepper soup (1/2 bowl) don't know about syns at it was made by our chef
1 Mullerlite yoghurt

Mizzy thanks for those kind words and Yes I am going for it big time! So glad you felt good in your clothes and you will look great this year[clap][clap][clap] You really should be a consultant when you are driving again[clap][clap][clap]

Julieanne thanks for doiing the update - I missed Pats request and well done on your loss[clap]

Chris well done on your maintain - if you have a bad week and still manage to maintain that's great[msnwink]

Pam, Mizzy is right and it happens to us all and is awful but if you just stick with it it will turn around and you will have a good loss next week. What I say to my members is if they have a gain just go back over the last week and examine in detail what you have had and just make sure you are not missing anything (apart from the wine) that could be sabotaging your week[grouphug]

Another thing to remind us all who are on sw, although free foods are just that free, you must only eat them to the point when you feel full and satisfied even if you have food left on your plate and even if its free food do not eat behond the first feeling of fullness[msnsmile2]

I have to admit to feeling very confident about this weekend and I am determind to stick to free foods for 80% of my intake, HE's 15% of my intake and my Syns 5% of my intake[clap][clap][clap] In other words 'by the book'[msnwink][msnwink][msnwink]

I have tried before and never got much past the ½ stone mark but this time I am far more determind and want to set myself a target and work towards it.

Welcome to our thread Elaine, and I am so glad Mizzy has helped you, it is thanks to her that I tried SW for the first time exactly a year ago and like you I could not get passed the half stone mark but now I have lost 2 stone and I am a consultant for SW too[clap][clap][clap]

Evening all, just back from walking into town, had to get DH to collect me for the way back as bought the market up with fresh fruit and veg[angel] and couldn't carry it back home!

Took the dogs for a long walk this am though and power-walked, came back "glowing"[msnwink].

Food diary for today, porridge, homemade carrot & coriander soup (no syns as made with onions & carrots, coriander and fresh chicken stock made from boiling up the bones from last week's roast chicken). Indian takeaway for supper and planning on having chicken tikka with salad.

Having late lunch at my sister's tomorrow to celebrate our brother's birthday - roast pork and then birthday cake, so trying to be good today!

Welcome Elaine, we are all as mad as hatters on here, but trying to stay focused. As you can no doubt tell some of us remain more focused than others! Big warm welcome and just remember little by little is the way to go. I know it's thrilling to have huge weight losses but you are more likely to keep it off.

This week's ambition - to get to the gym at least twice.

Total weight loss so far 33lbs, I am doing mine in 2 stone chunks (am not going to admit the total), so another 23 to go. However, I need to lose 7 - 14 lbs before my op which I am planning for July.

Evening all,

Welome Elaine, I'm sure you'll get all the help and encouragement you need on here, as well as lots of useful advice. I joined last spring and have lost just over 2 and a half stone so far, with about the same again to go.

Well, we were all jumping around like loonies with excitement this morning as we got our plane tickets through the post (sad I know but we've been planning this for a long time!)It just makes it more real now the tickets are here some how! (we go 2 weeks today! and counting!) I have to admit I'm struggling to stay on track dietwise at the moment, its almost like I've decided that its too late to make much more of a difference, but I suppose I have to be careful not to put any on before I even go, there's plenty of time for that when I'm there[msnwink].

We have a big family dinner tommorrow for my mum's 70th birthday, it should be good, (3 courses though, will have to choose wisely[msntongue]) I'm looking forward to it though, I have 2 brothers and a sister, all with partners and children and its lovely when we all get together. Should be a good laugh.

Well done to all of you who are staying on track, hope you get the results you deserve.

Interval training is broadly defined as repetitions of high-speed/intensity work followed by periods of rest or low activity.
This training technique is often practiced by long distance runners (800 M and above) although some sprinters are known to train using this technique as well.
Distance runners often practice intervals on tracks, running hard at a certain pace for a specified distance (or, less often, time) and jogging, walking, or resting between (again, for a set distance/time.) An example could be 12 repetitions of 400 meters with a 200-meter jog between each. Distances can also vary; one example would be a "ladder" workout consisting of a 1600-meter, two 1200-meter, three 800-meter, and four 400-meter repetitions, each at an appropriate speed and with an appropriate amount of recovery.
Interval training is a favorite of coaches because of its effectiveness in cardiovascular buildup and also its ability to make more well-rounded runners.
More generally, it can refer to any cardiovascular workout (e.g. stationary biking, running, rowing, etc.) that involves brief bouts at near-maximum exertion interspersed with periods of lower-intensity activity. One popular workout that incorporates this methodology is so-called "walk-back sprinting," in which one sprints a short distance (anywhere from 100 to 800 meters), then changes directions and walks back to the starting point (the recovery period) to do it again. To add challenge to the workout, each of these sprints may start at a predetermined time interval, e.g. 200M sprint, walk back, and sprint again every 3 minutes. The time interval provides just enough recovery, but not too much.
It is believed by many in the fitness industry that this method of training is more effective at inducing fat loss than simply training at a moderate intensity level for the same duration. This has been confirmed in at least one study.[1] It has been said that in some instances—like long-distance running—moderate-intensity exercise for long durations may actually preferentially burn muscle tissue as opposed to adipose.

Thats the offical explanation anyway but for me I do high intensive runs intervaled with powerwalking[sporty][sporty][sporty][msnwink][msnwink][msnwink]
