Hi all,
Went to orlando in Nov.2005 had a great time but our hotel was a bit of a let down (The Rodeway inn). So as we have our friends joining us for our next trip in Nov 2007, we are going to try a villa.
As you all know there are some lovley villas around but it's more which comunity we stay at thats the problem. We are drawn to crescent lakes but having had a look on google earth it seems a bit isolated and we did enjoy having a short walk to the bars and resturants on the I. Drive. So can any of You recommend a comunity which maybe has a club/bar on site just to have a few beers in after a hard day at the theme parks.

Thanks for reading
Ian and Lisa

Southern Dunes has a clubhouse with a bar and restaurant, but unfortunately it is not open in the evening. There is a sport's bar/restaurant opposite the community, but I wouldn't recommend trying to walk to it.
There is also a great family restaurant just a few minutes drive down the road - Manny's Chophouse which also has a bar and a very lively atmosphere.

We have stayed on Crescent Lakes and thought it was a bit out of the way for our liking. We prefer Southern Dunes, we went to the sports bar opposite the main entrance on our first night, last trip, nice atmosphere, nice food, reasonably priced.

Hi Ian and Lisa, the Formosa Gardens subdivision consisting of Rolling hills,Indian Creek,Oak Island Cove and Formosa Gardens Estate is about a 10 to 15 minute walk to an outback steakhouse, tgi's and about 5 other eateries, we often walk it so that we can have a beer without driving.

There's nothing about Crescent Lakes that's isolated! [msnoo] It is in the middle of a huge wildlife conservation area but restaurants, shops, etc are only a few minutes away too. :)

Christine, I was aware the club house dosn't serve food in the evening, but I thought the Bar was open.

I will have to check it out when we go in September, but you could well be right!
Having just looked at the website, I see that they are also doing dinners on Tuesday and Friday evenings.

There are many communities on the Hwy27. By Nov 2007 there should be more restaurants, shops in the Cagans Crossing area

Last year we stayed at Emerald Island which was just off the 192. It was a lovely place. This year we are staying at Liberty Village which is quite near to Old Town etc. We like to try different places but I do think a villa is far more value than a hotel room.

Terra Verde Resort has a clubhouse, meeting room and a Tikki Bar but the opening times for the Tikki Bar do vary. I've always heard lovely comments about Cresent Lakes and believe it is in a good central location.

To be honest if you are staying in a villa with friends (whatever the location) you won't want to go out as much, as you will have everything you need at hand.....cold drinks from your large American fridge, music, food, private pool the list goes on. We often have a takeaway and eat in at the villa. Many restaurants also deliver[msnsmile][msnsmile] All villas have fully fitted kitchens so you could also choose to cook.

Hi again.
Thanks to You all for replying, you have all been very helpful and we will let you know what we decide. At the moment it is looking like Lindfields will be our choice but we feel like kids in a sweet shop!.
Once again Thanks

Hi Ian and Lisa

Most communites have shops and eateries close by - ours certainly does. Why not draw up a short list of communites and make a few enquires through these 3 sites. Owners will be more than happy to talk you through the facilites near their homes.

Good luck - and enjoy planning your trip!

Most of the communities are a very short distance to lots of shops and restaurants, as others have said, and staying in a villa compared to a hotel, you might find it difficult to drag yourselves away from all of the luxury you have on your very own doorstep[msnsmile]. None of the communities are really isolated.

If the dates that you are looking for in November include Thanksgiving, I would suggest you dont leave it too late to book, even though it is next year, as these are very popular dates and the villas will get booked early.
