The Engine Room
The Engine Room, on Auckland’s Northcote Point, is a modern European restaurant set in a classic art deco building. The food is a blend of peasant cuisines, modern bistro and bistro classics. This restaurant was the supreme winner of the 2007 Metro Restaurant of the Year awards.
Toto Restaurant
This was the first Italian restaurant in Auckland to offer a fusion of the Pacific with the modern Italian cuisine of Italy. Toto displays an elegant and open ambience with its white plastered walls, iron framed windowpanes and black candelabra. Live opera is hosted in the restaurant every Saturday evening.
Antoine’s Restaurant
Tony and Beth Astle have been running Antoine’s since 1973, and have earned the distinction of having owned and operated the longest running restaurant in New Zealand. Antoine’s provides a silver service with a modern approach and has a Nostalgia menu with long-time favourites. It also has a weekly changing menu featuring modern New Zealand cuisine with French and Asian overtones, as well as seasonal New Zealand specialities.
Blue Elephant Thai Restaurant
If you want authentic tasting Thai food and friendly service look no further. It is these things that attract both locals and tourists to keep visiting the restaurant. It is located in a small courtyard, down a small alley in Parnell. The fresh food is beautifully presented and the staff only serve large sized portions so make sure you a hungry when you arrive.
Oh Calcutta
As you would expect from the name here you can indulge in a journey of the flavours and colours of India. Oh Calcutta has been the winner of a number of Auckland Restaurant awards; one of them is Metro' s Top 50 Best Asian Restaurants for 2008.
Casita Miro
This restaurant is located on Waiheke Island and famous for its ambience, fine food and wines. Here you can indulge your taste for Spanish style food. Casita Miro is all about shared dining, if you are looking for something small then the tapas are perfect. If you are a larger group then the raciones will give you the perfect social dining experience.
Sun World Chinese Restaurant
If you want authentic Hong Kong cuisine then this restaurant is the right place for you. The atmosphere can best be described as lively as it caters for 200 guests. The staff are friendly and it serves fabulous dim sum and also a variety seafood and meat dishes.
Lord Nelson Restaurant
Lord Nelson started as a simple steakhouse about 35 years ago and has expanded ever since. It is a popular restaurant serving some of the best steaks in town. It also offers fresh seafood, lamb, venison and chicken. They serve big portions so make sure that you are hungry when you plan your visit.
