THINGS TO DO :-- Skydiving and Kayaking
SKYDIVE MEX
This company is located at Aerotron Hangar 1, which is the executive terminal of the PVR international airport in Puerto Vallarta. Here you experience the thrill of skydiving while under the close supervision of a highly experienced instructor. This skydiving operation offers the latest equipment as well as great locations and jumps while enjoying some of the finest weather available for this activity. They cater for first time and inexperienced jumpers. After a briefing, you and your instructor will get on the plane, and the aircraft will climb to 13, 000 feet over the spectacular scenic landscapes. After you exit the plane you and your instructor will free fall for almost one minute. You will have the sensation of being on your own but will be safely connected to your instructor at over 4 points. After opening the parachute the instructor will offer guidance so that you can fly the parachute together and land safely back on earth.
Skydive Mex operates only state of the art aircraft suitable for this sport. Jumps are scheduled to take place starting in the middle of November and then continue through the high season months only. These are the non-rainy season months and allow for safe jumping in clear weather. The cost per person is $250 USD but there are special rates for groups of 5 or more jumpers. Extras on offer are a video ‘Handycam’ for $70 USD and a Deluxe Video and photo pack for $120 USD.
Kayaking
If you are taking out kayaks into Banderas Bay it is always advisable to depart early in the morning before the wind picks up and the sea becomes choppier. The best places to kayak around Banderas Bay are the calmer waters north of Puerto Vallarta in the neighbourhood of Nuevo Vallarta and Flamingos. The areas to the south of Puerto Vallarta such as the secluded Colomitos and the islands of Costalegre, as well as near other small coves along the bay, are also good. In Puerto Vallarta there are not many tour operators who specifically offer kayaking tours. Instead many tour operators will integrate the activity of kayaking into the tours they offer such as going out on catamarans to a particular destination in the Bay. These tour operators include Vallarta Adventures, Ally Cat Sailing and the Pirate Ship.
If you just want to do Kayaking on your own or in a group then you should go to Flamingos Beach. There is a rental hut right on Flamingos Beach between the Samba Resort and the Acqua condo complex. It is an independently owned and operated rental shack that is open daily and offers kayak and Hobie Cat rentals in addition to jet ski rentals.
