THINGS TO DO :- Visit Las Caletas Beach
No vacation to Puerto Vallarta would be complete without a visit to Las Caletas Beach Hideaway. It is surrounded by a steep jungle-clad mountain backdrop and accessible only from the sea. This secluded, tropical retreat is perfect for everyone – from couples to families and friends. Once settled on shore, you can either relax or take advantage of the many activities available. The day is yours to create some special memories.
The day begins with a one-hour ride aboard a double-decker catamaran with music, snacks, open bar and entertainment. As passengers go ashore there is an opportunity for a professional photo shot followed by a delicious snack of freshly made tortillas and simple but delicious fillings. Guests are free to relax on hammocks or beach loungers, go kayaking, tubing, paddle-boarding, swimming or snorkelling. During the day there is a guided nature walk, cooking lessons which are normally guacamole and paella, and an opportunity to participate in yoga or get a massage. At the beach, there is an open bar all afternoon. Younger children aged 4 to 11 can use the Kids Adventure Park where they can zip line, get their faces painted, feed ducks, enjoy a climbing wall and cargo net, have a monkey encounter, take a jungle donkey ride, and get introduced to a tarantula. After a gourmet lunch, guests wave goodbye to this slice of paradise and enjoy the ride back to Puerto Vallarta by catamaran again with open bar, music and entertainment. As with other tours please remember to tip as you leave.
See the XIUTLA FOLKLORIC DANCE & BALLET TROUP
The members of this Puerto Vallarta folkloric dance troupe said that their name Xiutla translates to “place where the herbs grow. ” They were founded on July 27, 1994, and these incredibly talented local dancers have definitely grown up on the world stage. They travel and perform internationally throughout the Americas, Brazil, the United States, Canada, China and Europe sharing the richness and vibrancy of their Mexican heritage and culture. The original group of 30 dancers has since expanded to include 320 children and young adults.
Every Friday during the high-season months of November through April, Xiutla gives back to the local community with free performances in their native Puerto Vallarta. Their colourful and enchanting 90-minute performances take place in the Romantic Zone at Lazaro Cardenas Park, with a start time of 7:30 p. m. Their director said that for each and every event there is a completely different roster of dances, making each performance night unique. As well there are also folkloric dance performances on Sundays at 8 p. m. at the open air Los Arcos Amphitheatre at the southern end of Puerto Vallarta’s famous Malecon boardwalk. To help support the troupe’s travels, activities and dance costumes, donations are collected at the end of each performance.
Their performances are very popular with locals and visitors. If you want the best seating you should arrive by 6:45 p. m. It’s recommended that you bring a camera as well as cool beverage, and possibly even a little snack if needed.
