Visiting Puerto Vallarta - Part 34

My top 10 Restaurants in Puerto Vallarta

The next few sections contain my thoughts on the top 10 restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. These are what I would call the “must visit” restaurants in the area. They were chosen as the top restaurants based on the overall dining experience they offer. All these restaurants offer excellent food, great service, good views, and pleasant ambience. If you are looking for an unforgettable dining experience then try one or more of the restaurants listed. The list is not by ranked in any particular order just as I remembered them. These are all good places in my view and your choice will depend on your particular preferences. However, I do not think you will go wrong with any of these.

Barcelona Tapas

You will find them at 906 Matamoros Street in Centro. The Chicago born chef and owner has spent several years in Spain to perfect his culinary skills. The restaurant offers traditional Spanish Cuisine, including hot and cold tapas, soups, paellas, salads and home-made bread. The cocktails, wine selection, and desserts are good and the service is excellent. The waiters are very attentive and friendly. Most of the staff seem to speak English pretty well. It also offers a panoramic view of the bay. You have to walk up a few dozen stairs to get to the 4th floor, where the restaurant is located, but the view of the bay makes it all worthwhile. It’s a great place to enjoy a nice lunch with one of the best views in Vallarta. In the evening Barcelona Tapas becomes one of the best places for enjoying a majestic sunset or for watching some of the fireworks that seem to go off every night.

Bistro Teresa

You will find them at 160 Zaragoza Street, Centro which is off Vallarta Plaza and they are located on the 4th Floor. Bistro Teresa has made TripAdvisor’s top 10 list of the “Best Fine Dining Restaurants in Mexico – 2015”. In fact, it ranked 5th, so you know the food will not disappoint. The blue cheese shrimp is a favourite with many customers but you really cannot go wrong with any of their offerings. As you would expect the service is excellent. The waiters are very friendly and Teresa, one of the owners, will make you feel at home. The location offers a panoramic view of the bay, the arches and the caballero del mar statue. The restaurant is situated between the Malecón and the church of Guadalupe, above Starbucks and next to Vallarta Plaza. The restaurant offers a romantic atmosphere and again is a perfect place to watch the sunset.
