Villa De Flora

After hearing lots of good reports about this restaurant we decided to join a large group of homeowners from our community and have a get together the Sunday evening before Christmas.

The restaurant is situated in Gaylord Palms and is a buffet style set up. We arrived at the restaurant around 8:30 pm to join the rest of the party. We had been lucky enough to find a parking space right outside the hotel so did not have too far to walk which we were glad about, mainly because in a lightweight cocktail dress and precariously high shoes it was just a short dash to the lobby! Most of our party was “suited and booted” but you could dress down in smart casual.

The restaurant provides different Mediterranean themes on different evenings ranging from French, Spanish, Italian and Greek. Our buffet was French but I have to say there was nothing particularly associated with France. I live 4 hours from Paris and was looking forward to some snails or frogs legs…LOL! This was also the general opinion amongst the 25 or so diners. Having said that it was a super tasty spread and I could not begin to list all the choices.

Everything from soups, salads, antipasti, meat, fish, vegetarian dishes, cheeses, cakes, ice cream, breads etc are served in abundance. The service is very good too and the waiters are very attentive. Lots of drinks were consumed ranging from Sangria to cocktails and beer. I can recommend the Cosmopolitan, I even had to ask for more Cranberry juice as it was so strong, although at $10 a glass you want some alcohol taste to it, it lasted me all evening as it was a large glass!!

The bill for the two of us was $79 and that included the service charge. Therefore two buffets, one Cosmopolitan cocktail, 3 diet cokes came out at not too bad a price for the evening. We will definitely be dining at the Villa De Flora certainly on the Spanish and Greek themed nights.
