Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

The Twilight Zone's Tower of Terror is without doubt one of Disney's Hollywood Studios greatest thrill rides. It is designed to allow everyone in the family to ride and leaves people grinning when they leave.

The ride itself is themed on an elevator ride in an abandoned haunted hotel in the downtown district of Hollywood. On the outside it looks like just another Hollywood hotel, but on the inside it is full of mystery and dark tales to tell. From the moment you walk into the grand lobby it gives you a cold sensation, and makes the hairs on your back stand on end. Checking in to this hotel might not be the best thing you have ever done!

You are all asked to enter the library and from here you are shown a 2 minute movie of how the house became famous and this alone gets you all wanting more. The touch of placing music (The twilight Zone) and watching the movie is a really good way of starting off this ride. From here you are lead into a basement boiler room waiting for your elevator to the top floor of the hotel.

It is this wait that gets most people worked up, and from what we saw a lot of people abandoned the ride at this point. This was mainly due to the fact that you can hear everyone screeming once they get into the elevator. Throughout the wait, all the staff were dressed in butler attire and all acted the part very well, this again only adds to the suspence.

By the time everyone gets on the ride they are normally very nervous (me included and I have rode some of the worlds biggest rollercoasters), from there on you are strapped in and it is only up from here! Well only to the first floor where the doors open and you come face to face with some spooky goings on. The way they have done the special effects is real good and adds to the rides overall feeling.

Once at the top it is where the ride really takes off (or down). Once the doors have opened it drops to the bottom (some 13 storey) and then back up to the top again, where it sends you back to the bottom. By this point I had lost count of the amount of times you actually go up and down. It is this sensation that leaves you with a very light stomach. Since we rode the Tower of Terror they have made it even worse, and by all accounts it drops even more times.

Overall the ride is one of the best in Florida, it is well put together and all the people working there really take great pride in scaring the witts out of you. It is different from the rollercoasters and because of this gives a totally different feeling. Out of ten I would rate it a good 8.

Now all you have to do is ride it!!!!!!!
