Disney's Rainforest Cafe

Disney’s – Rainforest Café

There are two of the Rainforest Café chain based at Disney’s parks in Orlando the first is at Animal Kingdom which is located to the left of the main entrance of the park and the second at Downtown Disney in the Marketplace which is where we eat.

As we were planning to eat here during our vacation I took the number with me to book a table prior to the evening we wished to dine, we had noticed on pervious trips how popular these restaurants are.

We booked our table to coincide with the end of movie we saw at the cinema complex at Downtown Disney and then wandered over to the Café. At the Café we where asked to join the waiting line for the Gorilla Room, we were worried at this stage that we would have to wait ages for our table and after booking a table was disappointed, but the queue move very quickly and with all the activity of the animatronics going on, the kids were distracted and we were sitted in no time.

The Café theme is one of a forest, hence the name. With the animatronics every 20 or so minutes comes a Thunderstorm with lighting and thunder which crashes about you, we found this good fun for the first few times, but to be honest we found it abit tiring after awhile as it is quite noisy.

However we were sitted in front of aquarium tank full of tropical fish which was brilliant, the layout of restaurant and the aquarium which separates you from the gift shop is an absolute must for anyone to see when they visit the Rainforest Café.

We ordered for starters Cheese Sticks (Mozzarella lightly covered in bread crumbs) and Costal Calamari both of which came with this lovely sauce for dunking really nice. For our main courses the kids ordered pizza each (our son (5) was starting to look like a Pepperoni Pizza by then – as he always ordered this) I ordered a Rainforest Burger with added Mushrooms and Bacon, and my wife ordered a Chicken Bamba BBQ wrap with substituted fries all of which tasted great, the fries were the best part as they still had there skins on.

My wife and I were so full after the starters and main course that we could not face pudding but the kids all had ice cream, next time we go my wife is missing the starters to order a pudding.

A word of warning at the beginning of our adventure (as they like to call it), our waitress come over to get our drinks order and show us some souvenir glasses they had and did we want the kids drinks served in these glasses, the kids asked for the glasses and we duly ordered three glasses however, they are same price as outside, but you then add the gratuity to the cost of the glass and they worked quite expensive.
