Throughout the district, you discover many art Deco features such as porthole windows and imitation ships, funnels used to disguise rooftop storage tanks and Florida motifs. Every January a weekend is devoted to the celebration of the district’s architecture with lectures and many other special events.
Miami Beach post office is an example of deco architectural style. Classical motifs and subdued decoration distinguish the post office from the neighbouring art deco buildings. Among one of Miami Beach’s early art deco landmarks was the coral rock building adorned with Mayan motifs and is now the home of the Bass Museum of Art. The Bass Museum of art has the foremost art collections in the State. The museum has even a private collection of European art like Rubens, Sir Thomas Lawrence, Cornelis Van Haarlem etc.

he Espanola Way was created in 1925 by designers who plan to recreate a European artist’s colony. It has commercial art galleries and small apartments known as artists lofts. Another worth seeing is the Lincoln Road Mall. Lincoln Road was labelled the” Fifth Avenue of the South” a comparison with the shopping strip of New York. The Colony Theater and Lincoln Cinema both performing art venues, and Sterling Building are notable. The Sterling Building is occupied by the South Beach Arts Center to provide studios and exhibition space for contemporary artists.
For those who love nightlife, South Beach is the vibrant heart of it, whether for Cuban music, trendy nightclubs or just bars. South Beach has plenty of good hotels and restaurants and some of the world’s finest physiques can be seen on the golden sands at Miami Beach. Seven miles long and in places 100 yards wide. The sand is pleasantly soft underfoot and uniformly yellow. This is the place to work on your tan or simply admire everybody else’s.

Miami is certainly worth visiting...it may even be worth flying in or out of Miami International Airport and then driving to or from Orlando... just a thought!
