For some reason we had never got around to visiting a Logan’s on any of our previous trips to Orlando so this time we decided to give it a try on the recommendation of some friends.
We chose the one on the corner of highway 192 and International Drive South, close to Celebration. We were eating early 6. 30pm on a Saturday evening and only had a short wait for a booth for four.
We soon noticed the main novelty of this restaurant, the peanuts! There is a large barrel full of peanuts in the entrance and small buckets on each of the tables, the tradition is to munch on the peanuts while you are waiting for your table or for your food to be served and then to throw your empty shells on the floor. The result is a very crunchy novelty floor covering which adults and kids alike seem to enjoy adding to.
The menu is pretty typical of most of the steak houses in the area with a good selection of appetisers including the usual soups, salad, chicken wings, loaded potato skins, mozzarella sticks as well as peel and eat shrimp, chilli and dips with nachos.
The entrees (main courses) include some great steaks, chicken dishes, pork chops as well as ribs, burgers and a varied selection of fish including Catfish and Tilapia as well as lots of combination platters.
We decided against an appetiser and went straight for the main course. I chose a 12oz rib eye, Steve had a “Logan” which was a large sirloin and our friends both opted for the filet mignon. The steaks were delicious despite a couple of problems when our friend asked for his steak without seasoning and not butterflied. It seems the chef seasoned the first one by mistake and then he butterflied the second one. The manager came over to apologise for the delay and ask if we would accept the butterflied steak at no charge, which we did. We were served hot sweet rolls with butter while we waited which were very moreish and also tried the peanuts which were good. The steaks were served with fries or baked potato and Steve also had some beer braised onions which he enjoyed. We would have liked to try a dessert but we were stuffed.
We would recommend Logan’s if you are looking for a good steak and a lively atmosphere especially if you’ve got kids with you as they will definitely enjoy throwing the peanut shells on the floor. It’s not the place to go for a romantic dinner for two and a definite no no for nut allergy sufferers. we will definately go again.
