Why not take the day out to visit a winery; there is one in the Orlando area and well worth a visit it. It was opened in 1989 and has reputedly received over 300 awards
To get to it we take hyw 27 and head north into Clermont and towards the citrus tower it is just past there.
The winery and vineyard has a beautiful Spanish style building and is set in 27 acres of vineyards that are in full working order.
It is open 7 days a week and you just turn up no need to book .
They take you on a tour of the area and they are complimentary, they do take about 15 to 20 minutes, after that you are taken upstairs were they give you a theater presentation which lasts about 10 to 15 minutes, this is all about the growing along with the wine making procedure
After that you are taken to see the production area and are taken onto an outside balcony to see the vineyards from high up it are a wonderful sight.
The tour comes to an end with wine tasting (which is what everyone is there for) you get to taste about 4 or 5 different wines. I would say that from start to finish you are there about one hour or so.
Some of the wines are award winning I must admit I do prefer European wines but Lakeride wines are very good.
The wines they do are varied from Pink Crescendo ( a rose sparkling wine) to full bodied Reds
We liked the Cuvee Noir Reserve as it was a full bodied red very spicy but yet light on the tannins
They also do a very good Chablis which is a semi sweet wine
They have a gift shop where you can buy wine and other gifts such as cork pullers and foil cutters, they also have glassware and linens and other nice gifts they even have cook books and wine reference books. You can also but gourmet foods and gift baskets.
Each month they has something going off we were there in April and they had a live blues band playing it made a wonderful atmosphere and all they charged was $2 each
We do enjoy a day at the winery ai makes a great change and you do get to but some nice wines to take home with you either for gifts or for your selves
I do hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
