Houlihan's Restaurant

Houlihan’s Bar and Restaurant is situated on the US192 near and well worth a visit in my opinion. We have been to Houlihan’s quite a number of times and it is one of our favourite restaurants – although we have found quite a few others that equal it now. We have never had to wait long for a table (once we waited about 15 minutes but made ourselves comfy at the bar watching the sports on the various televisions scattered around the bar) although it seems to always be busy. As a rule we go for an evening meal and are never felt to be rushed and the service has always been excellent and very attentive – although this often as in many restaurants depends a great deal on who your server is! The meals are great but beware when you order the starters because they can be extra large and you could quite easily fill up on these. We now only order two starters between four of us – that’s plenty. We try different meals nearly every time and one of the last meals we had, our daughter who is quite picky as to what she likes ordered the chicken with some sort of dressing (cannot remember just what it was but it came covered in a dressing/sauce that she didn’t like). She tried to eat the chicken and scraped the dressing off but we did not complain as it was exactly what we ordered. When the server came to collect the plates he asked Abigail had she not liked it and she said it was ok but didn’t really like the sauce. We went on to have desserts and coffee. The evening was really nice (by the way our kids are 14 and 15 and on the way in I always collect a couple of the quizzes you get for younger children and we always find the kids start completing them as a competition between them both! ). When our server brought the bill he said how sorry he was Abigail had not enjoyed the chicken and he had taken the meal off the bill which was quite unexpected.

Houlihan’s also serve breakfast and although we normally do not go out for breakfast , on our day of departure we now go there and this sets us all up for the long journey home. Great choice and self service however if you are looking for bacon you need to ask your server and it will be brought to you separately.

All in all a great experience.
