It was recognised as a State on the 3rd March 1845. It has a “State Day” which is on the 2nd April each year. The State Motto is “In God we trust”. The State drink is not surprisingly, Orange Juice! The State song is “The Suwannee River” written by Steven C Foster.
The Floridian flag was adapted in 1899 and it is emblazoned with a red X and the State seal. The flag represents the land of sunshine, flowers, palm trees, rivers and lakes. The seal features a brilliant sun, a cabbage palmetto tree, a steamboat sailing and a Native American Seminole woman scattering flowers.
