Animal Kingdom. “Festival of the Lion King”

Animal Kingdom at Disney World in Orlando is a great place to visit and I would recommend you not to miss the FABULOUS LION KING SHOW. It’s called “The Festival of The Lion King” and is performed several times a day, so you just chose the time that suits you best from the show schedule, arrive early for a good seat and enjoy the show! It is performed in a circus type building, with seating all the way round seating about 1000 people so everyone gets a good view. It is divided into 4 and the performers enter the centre stage from all the four entrances

It is a “tribal celebration of song and dance” staring all your favourite Lion King characters, including Simba, Timon, Pumbaa. The performers are amazing, as you would expect from a Disney production, the music gets you clapping and everyone has a great time!

The show begins with a Simba, a HUGE animated figure sitting on top of pride rock and the performers sing “I just can’t wait to be King”, this just makes the hairs on the back of your neck tingle…. you know the feeling?

There are monkeys (not real ones of course) but the tumble monkeys, performing acrobatic antics, to the song “Hakuna Matata” which we all know means …. No worries! Also there amazing display of other acrobatic stunts. This gets the children laughing and they all have a great time.

There are characters singing and dancing on stilts and they wear the most colourful exotic costumes, dressed as tribal warriors they perform a mock battle.

For me the absolute highlight of the show was watching the high wire performers dressed in bird costumes fly high to the sound of “Can you feel the love tonight” .

I will remember this forever!

The show contains all your favourite songs including “The Lion sleeps tonight”, “The Circle of Life” and others.

The show lasts for about 30 minutes, and is suitable for all the family, even my (grumpy) teenage boys enjoyed it! There is quite a lot of audience involvement and

The audience is split into four sections - elephants, warthogs, giraffes and lions, and you have to take part in the show and compete with the other “animals”, it was great fun. We were Elephants and had a laugh making elephant noise on cue! ! I wonder what we will be next time!

All in all it is a wonderful colourful spectacular show, and well worth a visit, in fact do not miss it!
