Epcot is one of the Disney Parks at Orlando and stands for Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow. The park is over 260 acres in size and comprised of two distinct regions, the first half shows guests a look at the future and is called Future World and the second half offers visitors a trip around the world, and is called World Showcase. Both sides of this park give a strong educational value for both children and adults alike, and I would recommend spending a day in each half of the park.
Future World features several rids and attractions that give visitors an interesting look into future technology. Although some of the rides now seem a little out of date, Epcot have made up for this by recently adding two new ride experiences, called Test Track and Mission Space. Universe of Energy is a brilliant 45 minute show and ride that explains the creation of fuels from the age of the dinosaurs to their modern day use. Sounds a little dull, but believe me, it’s not!
Body Wars is a terrific simulator ride that takes you on a tour of the human body. It can be a little violent and is not recommended for guests who suffer from motion sickness. Other experiences at the Wonders of Life section of the park include Cranium Command, The Making of Me, and the Fitness Fairground. But the main attractions here have to be Mission Space and Test Track.
Test Track is an incredible ride that lasts five and a half minuets and guests board the six seat car and are then taken through a variety of tests, including weather, brake and bump tests before being propelled into a mile long track at speeds in excess of 60 mph. The cars whiz around the outside of the building, so hold onto those hats and sunglasses. Queues can get very long for this ride, so get your fast passes as soon as you arrive at the park.
Mission Space, if you have ever wondered what it would be like to go to space in a rocket, here’s your chance. If you suffer from motion sickness I would miss this ride out. This dramatic new high tech attraction features a simulated shuttle launch, with you and your fellow passengers as the crew. It really is a fantastic experience, but again, very popular, so get those fast passes early.
Honey I Shrunk The Audience is a 3D adventure based on the film, Honey I Shrunk The Kids. Special effects and moving seats add to the entertainment and visitors are made to feel as though they have been shrunk. Beware of the dog at the end!
There is definitely lots to do and see at this park, and the evening fireworks are the best in Orlando, so don’t miss them.
