Many people ask the question where I can go for that extra special meal. Maybe for a Birthday, Anniversary or even a Wedding dinner celebration? Although dining in Orlando can be more of a causal affair, there are a few pleasant surprises to be found. One of these restaurants is Dux.
Dux is situated in the very expensive Peabody Hotel at the conference centre end of International Drive (9801) in Orlando. It is very aptly named because of the world famous ducks that walk the red carpet in the hotel lobby twice each day. This in itself is a tourist attraction and draws the crowds. There is valet parking when you arrive.
The restaurant is only open between 6 and 10 pm Monday to Saturday. It is expensive and is frequented by the business crowd and tourists alike looking for a finer dining experience. It has a full bar and extensive menu featuring American and European flavours. Reservations are highly recommended as it does get busy, although if you go early you can get the pick of the tables! They have a fantastic wine list too as well as the fully stocked bar. Most people dress up and the evening we were there the dress was suits and evening wear for the ladies. It is not a jeans and tee shirt sort of place!
The menu changes, I believe weekly and it is seasonal but it features items such as meats, seafood, fish and game but no duckā¦that really would just be too much for the resident ducks to cope with! Vegetarians are also catered for as one choice each evening is a vegetarian choice and it is appetising not a pasta and broccoli bake! If you have room for dessert then you must sample some of the tempting creations they have to offer. The hot chocolate mousse and white chocolate cheesecake are a must for the chocolate lover. We dined on fabulous steak with blue cheese cooked to perfection followed by the mousse and cheesecake! The most expensive item on the menu the night we dined there was around $50.
The setting is very nice too and consists of candlelight tables underneath a lovely Chandelier. There are paintings on the lovely gold walls which all feature our feathery friends again! Once you have enjoyed your meal you can either relax at the table or move out into the foyer to enjoy an after dinner brandy or whatever tipple takes your fancy!
