Cagan Crossings

Cagan Crossings is a new up and coming area on highway 27 just north of the junction with highway 192 straight across from the 24 hour Wal Mart . It is a growing development of residential apartments with a small attractive tree lined town centre. It has an interesting selection of small individual shops and restaurants that attract residents and holiday makers alike. As it is within walking distance of High Grove where our villa is we thought we had better go and explore to see what it has to offer.

Anyone who is familiar with the town of Celebration will see where the Cagan Crossings town planners have obviously got their inspiration from as this is an area best explored on foot. Although it does not benefit from a beautiful lake and walking trail like Celebration the small individual shops and restaurants are more in keeping with a small town centre than a large rambling tourist area.

One restaurant that has recently opened at Cagan Crossings is Sherlock’s. Sherlock’s has its original store in the centre of Celebration. This is a true English tea shop where you can not only enjoy a “proper” cup of tea but a wide selection of specialist teas, cakes, pastries.

Another shop that has not long been open is the Herb Shoppe; this is a health shop that sells amongst other things, herbs, health food, food supplements, skin and personal care products along with eco friendly clothes and shoes.

An old favourite that can still be found at Cagan Crossings is Simka Sweets. This is a well established old fashioned ice cream parlour and soda fountain that features homemade waffle cones, premium ice cream, gourmet coffee and gorgeous desserts.

Anyone who is familiar with the China 1 Chinese restaurant and take away at Champions Gate may be interested to know that China 2 restaurant and Sushi bar has now opened at Cagan Crossings, although we didn’t get chance to eat in we did order a take away that was excellent.

There is also a pizza place where you can eat in or get take away and a Sobik's subs outlet that both seemed to be popular with the local residents. Although we didn't get chance to try either I'm sure we will try both in the future.

Other establishments that will be opening shortly are the Viceroy Indian restaurant which will no doubt do a roaring trade amongst the UK visitors to the area and the Gators Dockside sports bar that will be a welcome addition for anyone staying on one of the communities close by that wants to go out for a drink in the evening but doesn’t want to have to get a taxi home.

As more shops and restaurants open I think Cagan Crossings will soon become a firm favourite and will be on our places to visit list whenever we are at High Grove.
