Boggy creek Airboats

To do something really different why not take a trip to Boggy Creek and try the thrills of an airboat ride. It is nearly as good as some of the rides at Disney or Universal studios.

The stunning beauty of the natural Florida Everglades is an exciting a ride as you will ever find and very educational too as the driver tells you all about what you are seeing whilst on the trip. Great for teaching the kids a little bit about Florida and it’s wildlife without them realising it!

Florida’s unspoilt natural beauty consists of wetlands and Cyprus trees, with wildlife such as alligators, turtles and birds, including America’s famous Bald Eagles that are in their natural habitat is a truly marvellous sight, combining that with the thrill of the speed of the airboat is an absolutely brilliant experience.

Easily accessible from anywhere around the Orlando areas, if you drive down the US192 east to Poinciana blvd just before marker 11 turn right and drive approximately 18 miles south virtually to the end, it is sign posted so easily found.

They are very safe and driven by experienced US coast guards. They hold up to 18 people at a time and travel over the surface of the water at approximately 45 miles per hour.

Everyone is given earmuffs as the noise of the air boats are really quite deafening! and all children are provided with life jackets. You need to very careful if you take a camera or video recorder with you as the spray of the water could ruin them or they can easily be dropped accidentally over the side of the boat.

During the trip the driver stops several times to point out spots where alligators can be seen there are also nests and sometimes baby alligators, the rest of the ride is really interesting and the boats fly across the top of the water and turns from side to side you sometimes get soaked with the spay of the lake water, but it is really good fun for everyone young and old. Warm clothing is recommended for the nighttime trips, as the lake water can be quite cold as you catch the spray!

Booking is not necessary for the daytime trips but there are nighttime trips too and these need to be booked before you go and are only available in the summer months. The night time ones are about an hour long and the daytime ones are half an hour, but certainly well worth it and most enjoyable.
