Florida sun meets Alpine Snow in the coolest water park around. Hang on to your swimwear as you take the slide of a lifetime down Summit Plummet. Yes Blizzard Beach the most recently built Disney water park in Orlando is themed on an Alpine Sky Resort.
Waves in the Melt-Away Bay pool area, water slides dotted everywhere, Blizzard Beach is just an amazing day out for all the family.
The focal point of the park as you walk in has to be Mount Gushmore and the huge sky jump, which is Summit Plummet, the exhilarating 120-foot water slide. Although you will have to queue a short time, once at the top your adrenalin kicks in as you get the go ahead to lunch yourself down this unbelievable slide. Hang on to the swimwear and prepare to reorganize as the water gets everywhere. The views from the top of Summit Plummet over the Disney area are fantastic.
There are plenty of other great slides in the park, which can be done by you or with the family. Downhill Double Dipper, a twin slide that takes you through the tunnel and in to the water below at a speed of 25 miles per hour. Slush Gusher a 90 foot banked gully that takes you all the way down Mount Gushmore. Or you may fancy a race against all your friends on an 8-lane toboggan stile water slide where the winner takes all the glory.
For the younger one’s there is Tike’s Peak an area full of slides and swimming area where the youngsters can splash to their hearts content.
There are other milder rides where an inner tube is needed, Runoff Rapids, Snow Stormers and Teamboat springs all Shute you down Mount Gushmore on their various twisting and winding gullies. Many have water obstacles on the way so be prepared for an absolute soaking before the ride comes to an end.
Most or these rides are all within easy reach and if you prefer to ride up Mount Gushmore just take the Ski lift.
As like Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach has a Lazy River called Cross Country Creek, for the person who fancies a chill and relax grab hold of the provided inner tubes and just float around this scenic water way, head back and feet cooling off under the water surface. AHHHH
Food is plentiful like all the other parks with an array of dishes to fulfill your taste buds. Your choices of diners are Avalunch, Lottawatta Lodge and Polar Bear Pool Bar.
