Discounting a villa price at customer request
First of all we should note the increase of this recent phenomenon where potential renters offer either their budget or request a discount, it seems that what potential renters do not think about is that owners who keep their houses to a high standard need a certain income to allow them to achieve that. I have had offers as low as £200 per week for a villa that cost me $205000. 00US to buy, and on which we have spent in the region of $65000. 00US to bring it up to the standard that I would want if I were a renter.
I am also absolutely amazed when people do rent bargain basement villas and then complain that they are dirty or not well equipped, there is truth in the old adage that you get what you pay for and I for one wouldn’t want to jeopardise my families holiday by not sourcing a quality stay.
We also get requests for discount from the military which I think is half way reasonable but also from airline cabin crew, I once had a request from cabin crew and whilst I am mainly very polite, on this occasion I replied that I would give them a discount if they could give me one on my next flight prices, it seemed very fair to me but there was certainly a lot of indignation in her reply to that. Why would cabin crew think that they should get a discount?
Most villa owners pride themselves that they provide their renters with an excellent product at a very good value for money, a lot of villa owners who discount will invariably not be able to maintain their villas and as a consequence will eventually not be able to attract renters and will go into foreclosure, this is partly what is happening at the moment and it affects the industry as a whole. Remember, it is a business.
Renting a villa in Florida represents extremely good value for money, an excellent way to visit the parks with the correct amount of activity and relax time and surely, staying in a villa with all of their amenities and space to yourself has to be better than a hotel, so please, do not try to reduce what is already a good offer, owners appreciate that sometimes their villas are out of peoples reach but not all villas offer the same facilities, so, if a villa is out of your price range do not insult the owner by demeaning his or her property, find one that is in your price range and if it is not up to scratch when you get there, then that is perhaps a lesson learned.
Please do not get insulted at my remarks above, I do not intend to demean or insult anyone but when someone has poured money, time and effort into a villa and someone offers a derisory amount to rent it, I’m sure that you will understand the owners feelings.
