When I got older and started visiting the States I did not seem to visit one. However, my daughter spotted one as we were driving back and begged to try one.
Of course it had to be a malted milk shake for me; think Horlicks meets a milkshake. Others of us tried a Blizzard (an indulgent ice cream tall cup) and Waffle Cones. Ice cream always tastes better in a waffle cone in my opinion. Flavours included Turtle, Pineapple and Peanut Butter, but whatever flavour you desire is, I am pretty sure they have it. Currently they have what they call a five buck lunch on offer and that is a pretty good deal. These includes your choice of a large range of sandwiches (burger, hot dog or chicken strip, for instance) with fries (of course) and a drink. Other entrée options include B. L. T. , Chicken Wrap and Swiss Chili Cheese Dog. The kids menu has them choose between a turkey wrap, hot dog etc. plus fries, salad or fruit, a smoothie, milk or soda and a treat. They usually have a special flavour of the day and during our visit it was chocolate covered pretzel. Sorry, none of us were in a mood for that mix.
They do display the calorie counts of all their treats (how unkind) I thought the ice creams were pretty good, but my milk shake total was a shock.
So let me share
A small hot fudge sundae was 300 calories
A chocolate coated waffle clocked up 274 calories
My milk shake was a whopping 510 calories -Oh my!
Now if that makes you cry, they do offer a grilled chicken or crispy chicken salad so you could start with that and then splurge some calories on an indulgent dessert.
They also have a healthy option for the kids; turkey wrap, banana, salad and smoothie. This is called the Live Well menu. I wonder if they sell many of those?
And finally, before you go, sign up on their website and they will email you offers. This is also where you can find the nearest branch to your vacation rental home.
