The Rembrandt House

If you have ever wondered about what life was like for Rembrandt, then this is the place you should visit. It shows you where Holland' s most renowned artist created his masterpieces. It also shows you where some of the most dramatic events in his life took place. All this is at Rembrandt' s former house in Amsterdam' s Jodenbreestraat 4, where his daily life is on show.

NEMO

NEMO is the largest science centre in Holland.

If has five floors just bursting with interesting things to do and discover. It is good for adults, but it is also the perfect place for anyone with children who want to find out about things. Everything at NEMO is connected to science and technology whether that is exhibitions, performances, films, workshops or demonstrations. They will all show you by your senses of smell, hearing, touch and sight how the world works. After a visit to NEMO, you will know why bridges are so strong, what you will look like in 30 years, why you look so much like your parents, how to purify water and much more. If you have an inquiring mind then it is very easy to spend a whole day here. You will find it at Oosterdok 2, Amsterdam.

Foam

Foam Amsterdam is an exhibition of photography in all of its different genres. It' s a museum with international appeal and is where photographers can meet and participate in forums and symposiums. It also has larger exhibitions from established famous photographers. It also tries to encourage emerging young talent by showing their work in smaller short-term shows. FOAM is at Keizersgracht 609, Amsterdam

Museum of Bags and Purses

Travel through time, history and fashion with this impressive collection of bags in the Museum of Bags and Purses. It is the only museum in the world with such an extensive and specialized collection. The Museum tells the history of the western handbag from the late Middle Ages right up to the present. It is located at Herengracht 573, Amsterdam

The National Maritime Museum

If you like to view detailed model ships then you may never leave this place. The National Maritime Museum shows you the ways in which our history has been shaped by the sea. The building has been completely restored and modernised very recently. The whole of the inner courtyard has now being covered by a glass roof which includes LED lights which give a spectacular view at night. This open inner area allows you to easy access to all the exhibitions and attractions. You will also find a reasonable restaurant and waterside terrace, beside which is docked a replica of the Dutch East India Company ship ’Amsterdam’. All this can be found at Kattenburgerplein 1, Amsterdam
