Amsterdam - An overview part 17

Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky

This perhaps one of my favourite hotels and it is located on the Dam Square right in the heart of Amsterdam. The Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is a luxury five star conference hotel and its prime location opposite the Royal Palace makes it the first choice of many people. The address is Dam 9.

Lloyd Hotel

The Lloyd Hotel is located in Amsterdam’s Oostelijke Havengebied, which translates as Eastern Docklands, and is innovative in the way it is presented. It is housed in a national heritage building that dates from the 1920’s and has been converted. The Lloyd makes good use of the space and is listed as a 3 star hotel but in my view four stars would be more fitting. The address is Oostelijke Handelskade 34

Ambassade Hotel

The Ambassade Hotel consists of ten 17th century buildings on the aristocratic Herengracht in the centre of Amsterdam that have been linked together. This is a unique location and one of the best spots in the city. It is a quiet district but is also close to many of the museums, restaurants and places of interest. Despite the unique building all rooms have a bathroom with a bath and shower, also as a big plus they offer a free high speed Internet connection. The hotel has a beautiful meeting room which is decorated in 17th century style. The address is Herengracht 341.

The Manor Hotel

The four-star Manor is part of the Hampshire hotel group and was opened in 2011. It is housed in an historic former hospital building that was fully restored to its original splendour. The hotel combines the look of the last century with the requirements of today. The 125 unique rooms offer all the modern facilities you would expect. An interesting plus here is on the ground floor where you will find Enoteca which is a trattoria offering traditional Italian food.

Nova Hotel & Apartments

I have included this as it offers both a hotel and somewhere to stay for a longer period. It is a friendly, comfortable and colourful three-star hotel in the heart of the city. Most of the city’s famous sites are within walking distance, including Dam square, the flower market, and the Anne Frank House. Shopping, cafes and restaurants are all nearby and its location on a quiet green square makes it ideal for unwinding at the end of the day. It is spread across 5 authentic Amsterdam canal houses and so combines the best of the past with modern comfort. It has 61 non-smoking rooms which are all decorated in warm colours and have modern bathrooms. The hotel also has a number of 3 and 4-person rooms which are ideal for families. Each day the hotel offers a large and extensive breakfast buffet and time spend here will reduce your lunch costs if you are on a tight budget. You can find it at Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 276.
