ACCOMMODATIONS
If you are planning a weekend getaway, a holiday or even a business trip to Amsterdam then accommodation is the least of your worries. There are nearly 400 hotels in the city and you are sure to find one in the right location that fits your budget. Hotels vary from budget 1 star and youth hostels up to 5 star deluxe; so what I have decided to do here is the pick out a few special or different hotels some of which are very affordable.
Art' otel
Art’otel Amsterdam has just recently opened its doors. This hotel is one of the first of a new generation of Art’otel which are offering more services and amenities. The hotel tries to provide a fusion of art and life for its guests. Within the hotel you will find 5& 33 which is supposed to be an exciting lifestyle venue which combines an all-day and late-night kitchen, bar, library, lounge with a multi-functional public gallery. If this type of hotel works for you then you will find it at Prins Hendrikkade 33.
Amstel InterContinental Hotel Amsterdam
Since the day the doors opened in 1867 the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam has been known the world over for its palatial grandeur and fine service. It is located where the financial, cultural and shopping districts all converge. As such the hotel is only a short walk from the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Spiegelkwartier and the Royal Carré Theatre. It almost does not need an address but you will find it at Professor Tulpplein 1.
Waldorf Astoria
Again this is another of the elegant and grand 18th century canal palaces on the Herengracht. The Herengracht is considered to be the most important canal in the city. In the 17th century only the richest merchants and the most influential people of the city lived here. It offers world class amenities and has just joined the Hilton Worldwide Portfolio Brand and can be found at Herengracht 542-556.
The Toren
The Toren is two hotels in one as it combines two canal houses into one hotel; the difference here is that the two buildings have some other homes between them. You will be treated to a unique and memorable stay at The Toren as it is run by owners. They can offer you more than 12 different room types and 38 uniquely decorated rooms. The typical features of a canal house, along with the nostalgic atmosphere, provide the hotel with a traditional charm. This along with a warm welcome combines to create a special atmosphere for you to completely relax in. The Toren hotel is located at the prestigious Keizersgrach 164.
The Grand
The Grand is part of the Sofitel group and offers five star luxury in a unique and historical building. It is furnished with grandeur and French elegance in each of the 178 rooms, the restaurant and the halls. It is located at Oudezijds Voorburgwal 197.
