All Aboard!

So, at long last you are on the plane; you will be on board for almost 9 hours so a little preparation is a jolly good idea.

Firstly, make sure everyone is wearing comfortable clothes; trackie bottoms and t shirts are fine with a couple of extra layers to allow for the plane getting cold.

Likewise, comfortable shoes and nothing that is remotely too small! Your feet will swell on the plane and the agony of trying to squeeze your feet back on is horrible.

Next you need to pack at least one book into your hand luggage; you may not like the films on offer; something light and easy to read is best.

A pen and a crossword book is also a good idea and some noise cancelling head phones if you have them. You can buy some bog standard ones in Walmart; not Bose, but hey they are less than $40!

Some tissues, mints and something to suck for the landing can also go into your bag. If you know you suffer with your ears then get some earplanes which seem effective for most people.

You have recently been able to buy those long socks to prevent D. V. T. and although not the most glamorous of items we all wear them.

On the same tack do take frequent walks round the plane to keep your blood flowing and follow the exercises suggested in the flight info.

Are you taking children with you? when we took our little ones with us we used to wrap about 10 small gifts each to open during the flight. These need not be expensive; colouring books and pens, a puzzle book, a small puzzle.

Also a few snack items that you know they will eat are a life saver. If they will not eat the provided meal then you can give them little munchie stops during the flight.

A pillow case will make your homeward flight more comfortable: WHAT: yes really. Stuff it with some of the small pillows they give you on board or a padded jacket and you will have the best nights sleep you ever had on a plane. And all around you will be envious. A mild over the counter sleeping remedy helps you nod off too; take it as soon as you board so you do not land home feeling fuzzy.

Lastly some of those aromatherapy roll on treatments are nice to use. Lavender for relaxation or peppermint to help you concentrate.
