    Cypress Gardens

    Looks like its back.

Found this today, so hopefully we'll be able to visit again when we go in late October.

I read the info on your link with mixed feelings. The good news is that CG is back, complete with the Sothern Belles & Waterski Show. But I am not so sure about the new rides; CG was special because it offered the chance of a quiet, relaxed day between the hubbub of other big theme parks. Now, it seems to have lost its original theme to some extent and become as commercialised as any other. Sure, one might think "I'll just go for a relaxing day, stroll in the gardens and not go on the rides". But will one's teenagers agree? Only time will tell if CG really works (and I don't mean just commercially) in its new format.

As you say "only time will tell". However it's got to be better to have it back than not at all.

    Cheers Dave,

So we're talking about 20 miles South of 192 area from what I can gather ?.

It takes about 10 minutes to get from Southern Dunes down to Cypress Gardens.
It's very straightforward, south down the 27, right at the 540 which soon becomes Cypress Gardens Blvd and the garedens are on the left hand side.

I was thinking about an hour from the Disney area say approx 30 miles with the roads not being straight. Sort of South on
27(25) then a dog leg across into CG but not sure of the road you turn off onto maybe 540. Last time I was there I purchased a water ski!

I was guessing they probably sold Water ski equipment, was it reasonably priced ? We have previously bought skis and jackets from the Sports Authority on the 192 and found it to be considerably cheaper than the UK.

Will have to put Cypress Gardens on our list for our visit in October as we never actually got around to visiting it before it closed down.
