    Villa for a couple?

Hi all - first time poster! Be gentle...

My girlfriend and I are going on our very first holiday next May (or that's the plan at least.) We are both big Florida fans and being in our first flush of love we thought we'd go somewhere where we both love! Awww ...

Anyway, the last time I went two years ago I stayed in a lovely villa on Lake Berkley. To me, I wouldn't stay anywhere else but a villa now for all the obvious benefits, plus my girlfriend has never stayed in a villa...and well, you know, the privacy factor!

Trouble is, for value for money, is a villa a bit of an extravagance just for the pair of us? I'm willing to pay up to £350/pw for a villa. I can get cheap(er) flights thru my work and like I said earlier, we wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

I've seen deals on Travel City Direct which would cost around about 2k for the both of us. Which seems acceptable enough. I am wondering if you guys have any ideas which may suit a couple better or point me in the direction of 'slightly cheaper' or smaller villas.

    Many Thanks,

    Inj

Neill, welcome to the forum. ....you Romantic fool you[:I] I think you have already made your mind up. You have stayed in a Villa before, and know that it is by far a more relaxed, fantastic way to enjoy and see Florida. I think you will definitely find cheaper Hotels, but you cannot compare the facilities of your own place, freedom to come and go, relax, swim, and the privacy you require[:I][:I]. I would say that a high percentage of people who book my Villa are either couples or small familes. It is not extravagent. You get the whole Villa to yourselves, no under occupancy etc. Go on spoil her. Lake Berkley is beautiful and I'm sure you and your girlfriend will have a holiday to remember. As for the price I cannot coment or solicit bookings. Just go to the Villas page, put in your requirements and await the replies. You will enjoy selecting the Villa.
Have a great time and I'm sure you will be back.

Neill agree with Graham, part of the fun is selecting the villa, so why not put in an enquiry and see what comes back. By the way you have found a great source for all those questions regarding Florida with this site. Welcome to the forum.

    Hi Neill,
If you really like Lake Berkley there is also the 3/4 bed townhouse option.

Thank you people - I have carried out some searching and found some nice properties that suit my budget...though I'm sure she'll get me to splash out more for that heated spa![msnembarrased]

As for the townhouse, do they have communal pools or still private?

Not necessarily. If you stay in a hotel, there will be invariable 'add-ons' like meals, laundry etc. The big advantage of a villa is that it gives you the freedom and flexibilty of enjoying your holiday the way you want, with your own pool etc. Having stayed at a villa for the first time this spring, my wife and I have agreed that we will never go to an Orlando hotel again.

Hubbie and I have previously only stayed in Villas as part of a group but on our last visit stayed in a four bed on our own. Admittedly, we didn't go anywhere near the other three bedrooms but the luxury that that size of villa afforded was wonderful. Wouldn't think twice about booking a Villa for just the two of us again and would happily go for spare bedrooms as it seems to give you much more room in the living areas and often more luxurious home comforts too.

I have stayed in 3 villas in the past as part of a couple, with 2 of them being 5 beds and one a 3 bed.

I must admit that we knew the owners of the 5 beds and they gave us a discount. Even if we did not get a discount it would still have been cheaper that the 3 bed, as this was booked through BA. Never going to make that mistake again.

The problem with booking a villa through a tour company is that you get you villa allocated on arrival, not always the best if you have a fragile disposition.

We found the space great compared to a hotel and the price of a 3 bed villa would probably work out about the same price as a quality hotel in Orlando.
