    On the plane

I know this might be a stupid question but hummor me, my girlfriend and myself fly in september and I was wondering if you are alowed to take your own food or drink onto the plane. I was thinking more of taking bottled water onto the plane as I know it can take a whille to get something to drink??
Also what goods are you not allowed to bring back, I know you cant bring the obviouse like meet or veg but are you allowed items such as chocolate.

    Hi

We normally take a few bottles of water with us and have not had any probs with taking sweets or snacks for the kids... no-one minds it is a long flight afterall and the cabin crew only go around so often with food and drink.
We have taken back many things, including chocolate and sweeties never had any trouble..
    Have a lovely holiday!!

Hi, my son took loads of bottles of water with him on his last trick, plus food of all description. On the flight home he even took some leftover japanese (noodles, veggies, steak etc) that he hadn't been ab;le to eat the night before. The stewardess said they smelled better than the food she was handing out.

Usually no restrictions on food or drink you take onto a plane (but you can't drink your duty free on board!). Just remember to get rid of any uneaten food before you land such as fruit, anything containing meat, etc as these aren't allowed into the USA.

There are similar restrictions about importing fruit, meat, etc into the UK but most other foods are fine (although why anyone would want to bring back US chocolate is a mystery to me as the US variety tastes completely different).

We always bring cereals back with us that we can't get in the UK. Previously we had a fad for Fruit Loops but currently it's Post's Cranberry and Almond Crunch!

Yip, We take water and scooby snacks of all sorts as plane food is hit and miss. You must eat or get rid of it before you land. Very serious offense to take certain food sstuffs in![}]

My vegetarian in-laws often take a small packed meal on board for long haul flights. We usually let the airline staff know in advance and they are quite OK about it.

Always take water and snacks with me, and as the airlines are all now jumping on the bandwagon and charging for long haul meals I don't think they should be able to object if you take your own. (you could always tell them you have special dietary requirements - real food!!)
Excuse me stewardess. Where can I plug my microwave in??

[/quote]Short answer - because they want to sell their own!

Long answer = Although we do recommend that all passengers keep hand baggage to a minimum, alcohol may be carried on-board as long as the bottle is sealed and remains sealed throughout the flight. from http://www.britishairways.com/travel...r/public/en_gb
