    road atlas

as I will be spending most of the fortnight driving around (mostly the west coast), I am looking to get hold of a decent road atlas. Ideally I would like a very detailed one, similar to the type you can get here showing all the uk roads. Is there somerwhere I can get hold of one in the uk or is it best to get one in florida, bearing in mind I would like to get hold of one straight away after arriving in tampa. anyone know if perhaps there is a decent shop within the airport.

There is one which has no equal in this respect. You need the ORLANDO AREA STREET ATLAS by Trakker maps. This costs $19.99 and can only be ordered from the S, but worth evry penny and more. I'll DM the link to you.

We have borrowed our friend's Collins USA Road Atlas in the past. It covers each state and has been all over the States with our friends, ourselves and other borrowers. I've found the oficial blurb...

A revised edition of the American Map Corporation's Road Atlas USA, Canada and Mexico. It incorporates road and state-by-state mapping, tourist information, US National Parks, city and urban area maps, and Discovery Channel suggested sidetrips to places to visit and unusual destinations.

I think it's about £12.00 and can be bought here. My only gripe is that it's quite large but the copy we had is no bigger than the traditional roadmaps you buy at garages in the UK.

    Kenilworth,

If you get a Florida version of the Trakker 'Orlando Street Atlas' you will need a trailer to carry it around..!! It will be more volumes than the Encyclopedia Britannica.
With the Orlando version if you walk more than 5 paces you have to turn the page..! I bought a copy after seeing Nostromo enthusing about it some weeks ago.. (I think he's got shares..)

I think the best bet is to have a look around over he before I go - in which case does anyone know of any uk stores that will stock any or anywhere online

I purchased from Amazon a Delorme Florida Atlas and Gazetteer it is 127 pages and goes into quite detailed maps 1” = 2.3 miles
( if stuck together it would create a map 17.5 feet by 15.5 feet) it has back roads recreation sites and a gps grid. www.delorme.com

No. This is a VERY large scale map of Orlando, WDW and all the other points of tourist interest around Orlando, concentating on I-4, US192, WDW, Orlando, I-Drive, MCO and so on. But if you want a Florida map, Trakker do that as well.

It is about the size and weight of AA or Collin's UK Road Map. And you don't have to turn a page every 5 paces.
