Once again said not again but again we gain!!

Got back from Orlando few weeks ago and said next year will go somewhere different, have said this the last 4 years but always go back[msnwink]Reason being value for money strange enough!!
    1. with one 11 yr old get child price
    2. with two 13 yr old get teen prices (half adult price) cant think of anyone else who does this
    3. As we stayed week in Universal Royal pacific we automatically become gold members and therefore get free upgrate to premier room with loads of benefits,
    4. going in Feb so other than the canaries [xx(] all other sunny (ish) places call for long haul and far far more expensive.
    5. This way can have another hol later in the year somewhere else as price payed less than 1 week in spain etc[8D]

This though brings me to my question if you would be so kind, we went in feb/march 3 years ago and was wet for days, quite cold just hit 60 some days, they called it the feb freeze and said not normal, is this rare or can i expect the same again, a few days got up to 78 odd and lovely

There was a thread on weather in Feb - do a search. My post:

In winter the weather in Central Florida is dominated by how far South the cold fronts reach down. Normally they don't get down as far as Orlando but when they do there can be frosts and the citrus crop is ruined.

There are plenty of sites that give weather statistics on the web. For February the statistics are:

    Average Max = 22C(72F)

    Average Min = 11C(52F)

    Mean = 17C(63F)

    Record High = 32C(90F)

    Record low = -3C(28F)

As someone said earlier the weather can change by more than 20F in a single day.

We were over there for the end of Feb, start of March this year and the weather was gorgeous. Shorts and t-shirt weather.

According to the averages February highs are usually 73, March average highs are 79. So temps in the 60s in Feb would be common but at the high end near the 70s, not the low end near the 50s.

We were over mid February last year and the weather was lovely. First day was late 60s and then moved into the 70s with the last day in the 80s. The evenings were cooler but very pleasant still.

I would certainly go again at this time of year if only the kids got 2 weeks off school

We have been in Feb/March a few times and the weather has been at both ends of the spectrum, so it's pot luck what you get really. A bit like the good old British summer LOL. (damn I went to the loo and missed it)

Right now the wind is predominantly from the west. What does that mean? The Florida storms are a function of the two sea breezes meeting. That's why Orlando tends to be beaten up more than other areas. But right now it's the east coast that's getting it. The wind from the west overcomes the sea breeze and the storms collect up and down the east coast. Of course that doesn't mean the usual pop up storms don't happen.
    Have a great vacation.

Our last couple of trips (2000, 2004) to Orlando have been at the end of February/beginning of March and although we've had evenings that have been quite nippy, the days have been warm (low 70's) and even quite hot (high 80's) at times. We had a couple of rainy days on our last trip but that was on the day that we started out to North Carolina and the day that we came back so we were stuck in the car anyway. We intend to stick to that time of year to visit Florida in future as the queues are minimal too.

It's been raining all day here in Central Florida. Not hard rain, just the small almost (but not quite) drizzle rain.
