Seuss Landing is all about the world of the books by Dr Seuss - incredibly colourful and so wonderful for younger ones - however, I read most of the Seuss books as a child but my little ones hadn't a clue who Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 were so we bought some books in the shop.
They thoroughly enjoyed the books and now this is even more magical for them and the Grinch release last year, just enthralled them.
First time we went on Cat in the Hat, we queued up ( quite a long queue) then the thing broke down. Never a one to give up, I insisted we queue again later in the day. Family were anti this ride by then. On we go. This sofa seat thing spins round and round nauseatingly among characters we have never heard of ( must be an American thing) What the hell was all that about? say two teenage boys, not impressed!! So I would agree, do your homework for this ride with smaller kids. And dont take big ones ( or grown men!!) on at all!!

Agree about older kids, don't think mine will appreciate it once they hit 12!
How can you not of heard of Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 - I'm 36 and grew up with these books and loved them! All rhyming sentences (as with the Grinch). They are probably a bit dated now when up against Harry Potter but you can't fail to be impressed purely by the decor and colours of Seuss Landing rides.
Youve never heard of the characters? I did all the cat in the hat stuff in primary school in the UK. Still new the stpry off by heart.
We love the ride. Its one of the few that Alex can still go on. You can ask them to stop the spinning.
With ALex in his chair they usually ask if we want to go around again. I must admit 3 times in a row is too much<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

Another Day in Paradise!
I had not heard of Cat in hte Hat before visiting Florida, but I just loved the beanies cat in the hat and the grinch. (Guess what I have sitting on my computer watching me as I type?!)
Went on the CITH ride and I agree with Julie in that you spun round which does sent the stomach spinning - so not for the fainthearted. Am very surprised it is aimed at youngsters - obviously the more robust ones!
I think the whole Seuss Landing looks so attractive, and at night when it is lit up it is really pretty.
Sadly my girls are a bit past all this now, but to humour their mum they decide to go on the runaway train ride and do the one, two, three fishes. (Even I have been on that one!)

Think it depends on your generation, Martin. I gew up with Nancy Drew ( God, Im old!!), my older kids with Raould Dahl and the younger one with Harry Potter so we sort of missed out on Cat in the Hat somewhere. No honestly I had never heard of Seuss at all until IAO and then the Grinch movie came along.

Snap Julie - I've never heard of Dr Seuss either - and my eldest was a Roald Dahl fiend, and my youngest eats, breathes and dreams Harry Potter.
Not sure about Nancy Drew - I was hooked on the Famous Five !!

Mom never stops trying to make my daughter read Famous Five, keep trying to tell her that it's Sister Sister and Mary Kate and Ashley these days!
I loved the Grinch film and thoroughly recommend it - every time I watch it with my kids (and it has to be about 5 times now) I always find something new to laugh at - a little quip I may have missed before.
The whole family went to watch it in Orlando (Xmas 2000) somewhere down the 192 way passed Walmart (complex started with an O, I think) - anyway, it wasn't a very nice cinema but we thoroughly enjoyed it and it made seeing the Grinch at Seuss Landing so much more fun.
I think if you have watched the films, Disney and Universal parks are more enjoyable as you have a bit of an understanding of what they have tried to do with the rides/parades.
Apologies in advance to all the interantional guests that visit this site. However, heeding Jane's advice I found a lovely hardback edition of "Green Eggs and Ham and other stories" by the legendary Dr
Seuss in the high street store "The Works" for £4-99! Our 4 year old was enthralled this evening.
Thanks for the advice Jane I'm sure that we will have a far better experience at seuss landing next time.
I always like a little interaction with the characters, John cringes every time!!!

A great aunt bought my eldest The Cat in the Hat years ago when he was learning to read. He loved it so the boys had read all the books and seen the videos when IOA opened. We saw a preview at US the year before and they were really excited at the Seuss Landing area.
I really love the bright colours and happy music. We watched The Grinch before we visited at Christmas and it was so cool to meet him and see all the other characters.
