I visited Orlando last August and the place was filled with love bugs. Has the season started yet ? I arrive again next week ? My kids hate the things even if they are harmless.

What are love bugs - whatever they are they sound awful - We are out in mid August I hope there isn't a speciality bug for our trip!

They're not awful at all, just annoying. They are really slow flying bugs which fly whilst they're mating (hence the name!).
There are two seasons for love bugs - May to early June and (usually) September to October. It really depends on the weather conditions but you're not likely to find any in July.

Are they the same as what we call 'Ladybugs' in the UK? They're rather cute.

Think they were a bit earlier this year as we were out in April and the little rampant things were all our pool screen[msnscared][msnscared]

We seemed to go through clouds of them while driving to Cocoa beach last time. They were a pain, we had to close the car windows PDQ. Still before this post I had no idea what they were called "Love bugs" my first thought was VW beetle conventions [msnsmile]
