    The Countdown has Started

Just over a fortnight to go and the 'Orlando-forget-me-not' list has been attached to the fridge, using Florida magnets I might add, so that each member of the family can add things when they spring to mind in an attempt to stop the last minute panics (the better half wrote 'me' on it yesterday...I just don't know why).

Another little thing we do to get everyone in holiday mode, is to bring a suitcase down from the loft and leave it in the spare room where we put various items that we wish to take with us, like cameras, films, MP3 player firstaid kit sewing kit, etc you get the gist I'm sure. This helps us to find the various bits and bobs and keep them in one place and hopefully stops the 'wherzis and wherzat' syndrome on the day before.

So how does everyone else prepare for their hols...I'm looking forward to receiving a few good tips here as ours has been known to have had a few flaws in the past[msnwink]

I always start making a list of what we might need about 3 months before and keep adding to it as I go along. Then, about a week before the flight, I look at the list and edit it down to what we really need. .

WE are off on the 24th and the boys have already packed their stuff. Hubby has decided he will buy clothes when there - so not much packing for him[msnwink]. Now I have to just stop everyone wearing stuff I have washed and ironed so I do not have to do it again

Ooops..forgot about that Jan...Hard-time city from now on "dont where this" & "dont where that" "I've just ironed that for holiday", this is now the time we have to wear all the "holey" stuff at the back of the wardrobe

I used to make a list of things to take with me, then put the list in a safe place - and never find it again. So I gave up and just pack the day before we go (for everybody).

Do it on your PC and save it on 'My Documents'. That way, it is always at hand and you can change it as and when you like without making a mess.

We tend to do the same as Lesley and pack the night before. Anything we forget won't be major so we figure we can buy it whilst there. Always check loads of times that we have the passports and tickets, the most essential ingredient.

I don't bother with lists, they drive me mad! I just leave all the Florida stuff in one bag for the next trip and then just have to remember to pick it up before we leave and ram the tickets into it!
