I have never been bitten in the Disney area but had huge trouble in Homossassas with mozzies and no-see-ums in Sanibel

They spray regularly in Sanibel, but somehow the no-see-ums seem to escape.Only minute bites.but they persist for a couple of weeks.

Homossassas is something else! We each had DOZENS of bites, whatever we did had no effect.Have you noticed that the locals dont get bitten at all? They must build up a deterrant in their blood

When we were at camp in New England in August the biting insects were pretty bad and we had bought a strong DEET formula from Walmart. It worked relatively okay, still a few bites, but I was very concious of the effect on our skin and clothes (especially with the kids) and I wouldn't now use it again. We had ordered Avon Skin So Soft, but it arrived after we had left so it was waiting for us on our return [msncry]. It is renowned in the Highlands, especially on the West Coast where the Midge has a terrifying reputation.

Something with a high Deet content is really not a good idea for the young or old.......unless going into deep woods.....

We have been in February and did not get bitten then either. Is it not rainy months that cause an explosion?
    And february isnt rainy.
Or is it if you stay by water?
I am puzzled by this as if there are mozzies are around they definitely find me and as I said before I have never been bothered in the Disney area

Should you still get bitten despite all the preventative measures we have used a little device sold by Boots - its a kind of 'zapper' that you put against your skin where the bite is and then you click it onto the bite and it stings a little, but if you do it several times it takes away the pain and itching. Can't remember its name but its displayed by the insect repellants in Boots. (we used it in Costa Rica when we went on a river tour into the tropical rainforest, so it does work to reduce the itching etc).

They will know if you ask.

Hi Chrizzy, It was in quite a forested area (see photo), but even still in future i don't think I would use this formula again. I used to use DEET without a thought when we had been in the wilderness previously (without the kids), but I guess it is different when you are using it on the families slightly more delicate skin than mine!

I have attached a photo of the camp lake.
