The mozzies have been really bad this year - I know from my hol 16/9 to 23/9 and our friends have just come back after a 2 week hol and they said they noticed many more this time -- so make sure if you're going soon to take the advice above on repellants.

I think it's something to do with the extra water about with the hurricanes and the humidity??

I'm going to give the vitamin B1 supplements a try this time and see if that helps as the Mozzies always have a field day with me.

I read in one of those really useful womens' magazines that if you get lots of mozzie bites you're really sexy[msnwink]so if you can't stop them, get this 'spin' going in your favour!

OK, enough w/the suspense. What is marmite, where do you get it, and what do you do with it? Wear it, eat it, smear it, what?

If you live in an area that has a few brits try Publix supermarket in the ethnic foods section...be warned though... it is an aquired taste[msntongue]

Jungle Formula seems to work well for our family but have also heard good reports on BI vitamin supplements.

I take a odourless garlic capsule every day and unlike when I was younger have never been bitten since. This apparently has medical support. The rest of the family who do not take them have always been bitten when in Florida.

As we were in Florida while there were hurricanes I decided to follow advice on stopping mozzie bites. Usually every September I get eaten alive, they seem to love me more than the others as they only have the odd bite out of them. This year I and the rest of the family took one odourless garlic tablet every day. Result no bites, while others around us were complaining of being bitten constantly.

When we were at camp in New England in August the biting insects were pretty bad and we had bought a strong DEET formula from Walmart. It worked relatively okay, still a few bites, but I was very concious of the effect on our skin and clothes (especially with the kids) and I wouldn't now use it again. We had ordered Avon Skin So Soft, but it arrived after we had left so it was waiting for us on our return [msncry]. It is renowned in the Highlands, especially on the West Coast where the Midge has a terrifying reputation.
