Don't know who wrote it, think it mught have been Florida Pete, but here is a snoppet on the Lakeridge winery I saved from TF a while ago.

Although Florida is generally flat it is not up at Claremont. All hills and ideal for grapes. In fact, when you tour this winery (it is free ) they explain that long before oranges the grape industry was huge in Florida. They have two wine festivals per year and what a blast. All the wine you can sample for free along with family fun, games, great food and entertainment. We never miss the " Stomping of the Grapes " festival. Quite an experience to climb inside huge oak barrels and stomp the grapes into grape juice....you have to wear your oldest clothes for this event.

Lakeridge offers an excelllent tour topped off by free wine tasting in a very elegant store they run. If you buy direct you save a lot and for every case of 12 you get a free extra bottle. That means you get a case of wines(s) for about $ 5.50 per bottle. You can even mix up a case and they offer all kinds of wines. The wines are actually first class and as good as California wines.
It is one of those local secrets. Plenty of local followers. A great place to visit for a half day trip. About a 20 minute drive north of of the highway 192 / 27 intersection. Located on highway 27. About a mile beyond the lights at Claremont and on the left if going north. As with everyone.
I really like the idea of stompung on the grapesI'll pass on the wine tasing thoughGive me a wine cooler any day.

Jacqui - cancel my last comment - the kids would love stomping on grapes - it's the kind of behaviour they would normally get told off for
