    The Keys Where to stay?

Off to Orlando again in just over 2 weeks (can't wait!) This time we are breaking up our stay in Orlando and seeing a bit more of the state. Thinking of seeing Miami, The Keys , the Everglades and Gulf coast. Anyone know of any good places to stay in Key Largo and Key West (Two forty somethings and 2 kids aged 9 and 12) We cant spend a fortune but want somewhere clean! Allso is it best to book our overnight stays in The Keys before we go or chance it and book when we arrive. We wont be staying at the weekend as we have read that it is busier Fridays and Saturdays. Thanks. Wonderful site by the way I have become addicted to it!

We stayed at the Howard Johnson at Key Largo which was pretty good value for money. It was right by the ocean and next door to a swim with the dolphins place.

lesley, i would recommend the hilton at key west - treat yourself - not agreat deal more than others, right on the sea. the big cruise liners pull up outside the window! has the usual pool etc. pool food is fantastic, has a little gym and its own island which you can get boated across too. excellent , also close enough to duvall street etc to walk.
we just turned up and booked last aug/sept

    have fun

We ar off in 44 days time! Our first trip and we are visiting the keys too. On the strength of what has been discussed in these forums we have booked in at the Howard Johnson in Key Largo - it had better be good guys [}]!

We are also planning to go snorkelling while we are there . . . CAn't wait

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn in Key West which is a short walk down to Mallory Sq., but also stayed at Ocean Key Resort.....it was fabulous, couldn't fault it.

Thanks everyone. I've started looking at some of the hotels you listed. The Hilton at Key West does look and sound really nice!

We just stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Key West for a couple of nights.

Its a very nice hotel that cost us £137 for the two night stay.

I love Key Largo and we have stayed at Amoray Dive Resort a few times although not since we have had the children.
