extending car hire to use DTD check in

we will be travelling up from the gulf on our last day so would love to use DTD check in to give us an extra 2/3 hours. The hire care has to be back at 2.30 has anyone extended this and do they charge for the extra hours or a full day? Is it even possible?

Normally, if you keep a rental car over time, it costs you a full day's rental charges. Can you change your arrival pick up time (ie have you allowed for Immigration, Customs, etc on arrival)? If you can do this, it will make the return time later without cost.

May be an hour or so, it depends on how many people are around all trying to do the same thing at the same time! If you wanted to make it two hours, you'd probably have time to get a snack too.

The collection time will be on your agreement (not your voucher) when you actually present yourself at the car rental desk and sign the paperwork and I'm 99.9% certain that this will be the time the car rental company will expect the car back.

I was 24 hours late picking my car up and they started the clock when I signed the agreement at pick up. The voucher time is there to give them an idea of how many cars they need...

Most car rental companies allow you o go 1 or two hours over. they will charge you the hourly rate. however if you go over this period they will chatge you a full days hire fee plus insurance and tax.
