Arrival at airports - HELP NEEDED

We (5 of us) land at Orlando airport at around the same time as our nephew (18yrs) lands at Sanford. We are going the long route Man-Chic-Orlando, he is direct from Dublin.

Has anybody got any suggestions about meeting up?

Advice needed on taxis from one airport to the other, or taxi to villa, or should we just make him sit it out while we drive to get him?

Don't know of any water taxis that can make it across the Atlantic yet[msnsmile2]. Did you mean Sanford not Stansted? Are you hiring a car? Where is villa?

I was also going to say that it takes rather long to get from Stansted to MCO by taxi! But if you mean Sanford, it would be easiest (in my opinion) for your Irish cousin to take a taxi from Sanford to MCO and meet you at a pre-arranged place - perhaps at the Car Hire counter where there is usually a wait. I say this becuase Sanford is further away from WDW, I-drive and the villas and MCO is more or less on the way to any of those places. Moreover, your cousin is more likely to complete formalities at Sanford than you will at MCO and so he will have time to take the taxi and meet you.

Personally, I think I would go for the 'sit it' out option! I am told that Sanford has a lot more there now than a few years back, and at least by staying in one place your nephew will be in a good place to meet, save the taxi fare, have loos, food outlets, leaflets, mags, papers to read and if he has his suncream handy, could even have a snooze in the sun[8D]

i personally would go for the wait and pick him up could cost quite abit from sanford by taxi. The other way is for him to get a lift on one of the shuttle bus into orlando which would probably drop off on i-drive then you pick him up from there.

I'd go for the sit in the sunshine option at Sanford too.

Provided your plane is not delayed of course.

I agree with the sit and get picked up gang. However, check out Mears. The trasportation service . They operate out of both airports and may run a shuttle. This may save some time.

I know where you guys are coming from, but I was thinking of the practical difficulties of picking someone from Sanford soon after arrival oneself at MCO. At MCO, it could take quite a while to clear immigration, customs and then stand in line for the car. All this took us 3 hours in April and could be longer in peak season. Also, Cameron's cousin will not know what particular car to look out for and it my be tricky for the tired folk in Cameron's party to search for their relative in Sanford. On the other hand, if he completes his own formalities reasonably quickly at Sanford (as is likely), the cousin can easily jump into a taxi and go to MCO which is not all that far off and should not be too expensive. (In his post, cameron even considers a taxi to the villa). My feeling is that an 18 year old would probably prefer to get on with it and go to MCO to meet the family rather than wait for hours in Sanford.

I agree with Nostromo it could be a very long wait and how do you communicate to him if you do get held up for a while much better to get something arranged for meeting up somewhere or at the vill I would check out the bus options first and maybe pick him up somewhere on the way I drive maybe, has as been suggested you need to think about the fact that by the time you have all got through Orlando Airport none of you are going to be thrilled at the thought of going back to another airport to pick him up and he will probably be tired and not thrilled if he has to wait for another couple of hours before leaving the airport

Hope you get this sorted out
