    Driving at night

Can anyone tell me if the road (World Drive) driving back from Disney back onto H192 is well lit and well signposted? The last time I was there it was pretty bad!

    Thank you [:I]

I always get lost around Disney Bridget - I know that isn't going to cheer you up much but the signing is just dreadful. It's not so much the coming back but the getting there though!

I've not come back in the dark so I can't help you with that unfortunately but I'm sure someone else will.

That's OK Blott, thanks anyway. Oh, I'm so worried about getting lost... the last time we were there the road markings were just terrible at night and I could hardly see a thing. Does anyone else have this problem?

    Fly out Friday - yeah!

The lighting is adequate but signposting throughout WDW leaves a lot to be desired. There are plenty of signs all right, but they do not always appear when you need them most and are often confusing. The area where Osceola Parkway, Buena Vista Drive & World Drive criss-cross is particularly confusing. But after a few runs, you'll get used to it. In fact, we ended up telling each other "that stupid sign will be around the next bend" etc.

If you are staying in one of the US27 villas, a simple rule of thumb while returning at night is to follow signs to Animal Kingdom and then to AK Lodge. This gets you onto the Osceola Parkway and by keeping to the leftmost lane, you reach the left turn into Sherberth Road. This leads directly to US192 and then US27.

    Hi Bridget

I've the same problem. I find it a bit difficult at night as well. Don't like driving in the dark when I'm not sure where I'm going and the signs are bad. Have been to Disney twice before and got lost once on the way back and ended up at one of the Disney Hotels.

Hopefully will not get lost this year!

I do sympathise with you. Although we have been to the parks many, many times we still do sometimes get lost for a while. I do remember the headache of those first times a few years ago. I think if you can have a basic knowledge of the way the roads 'run' and meet up with each other and run east to west, or north and south then that helps. Also, to know when you are going home ( or anywhere ) if you should be looking for for East or West of a particular highway. In the beginning I used to kind of study those small maps that you get in the travel brochures or Best Read Guides in the entrance of the super markets like WalMart.
    Good Luck, Chloe.

They don't believe in lights or sign posts in the US......I'm sure the roads were designed by lawyers just to make them richer...

We've found it can be a bit hairy driving at night, particularly with those big trucks behind you!! Just make sure you're not too tired and take it slowly!!
