We looked at flying PE with Virgin in early December, flight price doubled to over £3600 for 5 of us, more than £2000 more expensive than USAirways etc.

Exactly the attitude that concerns me, not that i am knocking you as i think i would feel the same way [:I]
Saying that you pay for the extra's on board the plane your not paying for kids to be kept away from you. I think they may be just to young at the moment
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about kids (I've got three grandchildren to prove it!) it's the kids that run around screaming whose parents just let them do it that get me down. It is possible not to have kids doing this but parents may have to work harder to achieve it.
Couldn't you plan some quiet activities for them to do on the plane relevant to their ages? Like pack some new treats to keep them occupied (mine loved stickers, colouring, puzzles, picture books and stories, etc, etc which kept them amused for ages - when one of them was two a Spot the Dog book with popups kept him quiet for hours as long as you kept going through it with him and asking him questions about where Spot was hiding!) and bring these out at various times during the journey?
blott
I totally understand what you are saying, we certainly arent the sort of parents to let the kids run up and down a plane screaming etc, However the younger ones are at a age where they tend to ignore what they are told lol
Will have a think about it, i just wanted to hear from people who have flown in PE with virgin to see if this has been a problem in the past etc
No matter where I sit on the plane I always get an annoying brat kicking the back of my chair. Bah, Humbug!

Would like to add my twopenneth, try not to blame the child as it is the parents job to supervise there children, I think we have all seen other peoples children running riot at times, Darrenm if you want to travel PE the go for it there`s no saying your children will miss-behave. The first time we travelled to Florida I was very wooried about how the boy`s would handle the long flight, they were quite young then and fairly rowdy (at home) but to my surprise they were very well behaved as long as you keep them amused when they want to be then I`m sure you will be fine

I have to agree wth Kissyme, my youngest is 2 and she behaves, I just get lots of new small bits and bobs from early Learning and the firm understanding that hey behave and stay in the seat and they are good as gold! Start them off young! I would go for it!![]()
couldnt agree more! Start as you mean to go on! Its the same in restaurants; if you never take your children to a good restaurant & expect them to sit still through a meal, instead of running off to the play area then they will think that running about is ok!
Sorry! You got me on my favourite topic now!!!![]()

Me too!! No running around in restaurants!!![]()
Our daughter is 6 and I think she has been on close to a dozen holidays on a plane. She started at 4 1/2 months and she loves flying, we are taking her on PE virgin in Aug and I know she will love it.
I am sure all children with good parents would think of it as a big adventure and a bit of bribery is always useful!!
Darren enjoy yourselves and make the flight a part of your holiday, not just a means of getting there.

how much would it be to upgrade to premium and how do you go about it im flying with britania
We paid £190 weach way per person to upgrade from economy to premium last year with Virgin. This year we have used our airmiles so didn,t pay for the upgrade but to do this you have to book through Virgin Atlantic directly.![]()
