    Lynx Buses and Universal

    Hi all,

Just trying to figure out the roads around Universal to see if we can use the Lynx buses to get up there - we're going to be staying about a mile away on Intl Drive, and from looking at the website there's a number 40 that has drop off points at 'Universal Orlando Parking Garage' and 'Studio Plaza Blvd'. There's also a number 38 that goes down Intl Drive and has drop offs at the Convention Centre and one near Wet n Wild, on the cross between Intl Drive and Universal Blvd.

Anyone know if any of these drop offs are near enough to Universal to walk? Anyone had any experience of Lynx buses also?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Andy

ive used the lynx buses before and they are great value and can transport you to some great places but you really have to know where you are going and where u want to get off as i found the drivers not very helpful unlike the staff on the i-ride trolleys.this might be just my bad experience, but if your doing your research they will be a good thing for u.i seem to remember seeing the lynx bus dropping off at the guest drop off(which is where the coachs from the hotels drop you off)and that is right in the heart of universal so u shouldnt have a problem with that.i mean if they can take you all the way to disney which is a journey ive done im sure they do the same with universal.

Check out the Lynx website at http://golynx.com which gives lots of info about timetables, routes, fares, etc.

Thanks both of you. Blott - I've been a regular visitor to the website! I've picked out the 2 routes above, the problem is of all the drop-offs around the universal area, from which can you walk into the complex?

Sorry, I put the link in for anyone else with the same question also.

The I Drive Trolley stops at Wet 'n' Wild anyway (the same as Lynx bus route 38) http://www.iridetrolley.com and may be more frequent than a bus if you use this method. It's roughly about a mile to walk from Wet 'n' Wild.

From what you've said, it sounds to me like Route 40 would be better than Route 38. The Universal Parking Garage is where car parties walk from anyway but I don't know about Studio Plaza Blvd.

As I assume you're staying in a hotel, I expect you've thought of this already but do they provide a shuttle service to Universal?

Yep, we're (g/f and I) staying in the Comfort Inn on Intl Drive and have a coach service to Disney but not to Universal (bizarre as its a much shorter journey than to Disney).

Guess the car parking garage stop would be the best bet via Lynx, then I-trolley for Sea World? No car obviously, wishing I had one now, but surcharges for under 25s are ridiculous!

Yes, it looks that way to me. There's a Lynx Route 42 which goes near to Sea World but not actually inside, judging by the map although the I Ride Trolley looks as if it does (stop 39).

I've noticed a few hotels have cut out the universal coach.....I wonder why....??

I'm not sure though it is odd. I thought the hotels weren't the ones who ran the shuttle, thought it was more to do with the tour operator? I only say that as I'm sure I read on the Comfort Inn website that they did Universal shuttles as well, though Thomas Cook told us that it was only WDW?!

Wonder if it's pressure from Disney that causing this?
