Car Hire - 'New Facilities' Tax

Have just read on another forum about a new government tax introduced on 1 May 2004 adding $3.50 per day to car hire! The car company this person used was Alamo. Can anyone shed any light on this please.
    Thanks

If you purchase the all inclusive car rental from the forum link on the top row, this includes all taxes and insurance so it shouldn't worry anyone who has done this in advance.

This tax has been around for a while, but was added to a few more airports from 1st May (the main airports like Orlando International and Sanford have had this a while so already included in the price). Miami is one of the newer ones and Fort Myers. The fees for these airports range from around $1 - $3 per day and will be in addition to the pre-paid fee until they are incorporated into the price when Dollar and Alamo next review their rates.

Since it is a US Government tax (which the car hire companies have to collect) it applies to all rental companies at the same airports at the same rate.
