My folks used Kingfisher, on Blottie's recommendation ~ thank you , for their recent trip, as my father had a heart attack in December of last year.

They came out by far the cheapest, and provided a very prompt and courteous service.

Make sure you declare everything no matter how long ago it happened. My cousin and her husband and friends were going out to our place last September when he had a heart attack in May, they eventually went in December after he had another attack hich the specialist said was the last one he would have as the valve causing the problem had now given up working. They had their insurance with Tesco who would not pay up because he had an attack some 14 years ago and they said that they had not been informed of a pre-existing condition. Their friends only got there money after the threatened to shop elsewhere in future.

Make sure to tell them about any family with medical problems. We did not tell ours about my Dad who had been suffering with fibrosis for some time and when he died on the first day of our trip in October they refused to pay out anything. I have argued the case on the basis that as I booked it over the internet it was not clear who I had to tell them about, it is now being looked at by the financial ombudsman.

Mum had an excess of £1000 quoted hence my post, obviously this is way to much.

All the replies are great and she will follow up on every single one - so thanks all and keep them coming!
