    US Air versus BA

Has anyone flown with US Air before. We have a choice between them from Manchester or a long trip down to Gatwick and a direct flight with BA. I have been told that US Air have more legroom. Any thoughts would be appreciated before we make our decision.

I would suggest BA, not because I work for them[] but because you dont have to connect within the USA, only at Gatwick and that is infinetly easier with bags etc.
I have heard good things about USAir too.....depends what you find more convenient.

I've flown US Airways many times. Their transatlantic service is great. Problem is unless your destination is Philadelphia, Charlotte, or Pittsburgh, you have to change planes. I know BA does direct service to Orlando. So I'd stick with BA.

It has to be BA, the flight down to Gatwick is only 50 minutes and you can check your bags in at Manchester all the way through to Orlando. Although I have heard that US Airways economy cabin is very good the hassle at Philly makes BA the better option.

Nope, I go US Air myself (and did a few weeks ago and several times previously).

The flight, amenities and service were excellent and changing planes in the US means that you can just get off the flight at Orlando and you've already done US Immigration and Customs so you can make a quick getaway!

I love them both. I've flown BA many times, but if I had to get two planes anyway, then I'd take USAirways from Manchester and change in the USA. Charlotte is a lovely airport (if airports can be lovely!!) so you wouldn't have any problems at all.

USAirways were great when Charlotte was iced over one December - they said that I could choose to come home any time within the next 7 days. Wonderful. I had 3 extra days holiday!!

We've just booked with USAirways too for the first time. BA and Virgin, which are the 2 airlines we usually fly with, were both booked for the date we wanted to fly. Our flight was far cheaper than the others and I was a bit unsure at first but now after looking at other peoples comments I'm quite looking forward to it.

My husband is 6'5 so finds it cramped on Virgin. We're hoping the extra legroom will help.

In that case Clare, try asking for seat row 8 if you're travelling on the same type of plane that runs from Manchester!

I think i woud choose us airways the leg room in economy is the best i have ever flown and the seat back tv is the most modern available you can pause a film and plenty of choice via your own remote control

Used US Airways last Nov/Dec and couldn't fault them, tried BA & Virgin (31" to 32" seat pitch) for seats with leg room as I'm 6'6" and disabled and neither would guarantee it, BA even told me to book World Traveller Plus which was difficult as there were no WT+ seats on the flight at all!.

US Airways with 34" standard pitch was ideal, I even got an aisle bulkhead seat on the return flight so I could keep my legs straight for the entire flight. In Flight Entertainment was excellent and the cabin staff were atentive, professional and very friendly. We went from gatwick to Orlando via Charlotte, the airport was great, nice friendly immigration and a good range of eateries etc. for a nice relaxing between flights break The flight down to Orlando from Charlotte was about 1Hr 40mins.

All things being equal we're going again early December and US Airways are at the top of the list for our flights.

And they were quite a bit cheaper than BA or Virgin!!.
